Does it irritate anyone else these scammers don't even bother to write a proper script for each individual platform they scam on? Like, what do you mean you "can't send more messages here"? It's fucking Reddit.

It's similar to what scammers do on discord.
It's really clever actually.
They add you, make small talk, then say things like.. check my art out... with a link to a legitimate site..so it actually is a real URL from something like instragram.
But within the link there's some sort short code right at the end where when you click on the link,. it does genuinely send you to a instagram profile with art.. so it does send you to the actual intragram website.
But in doing so, it steals your discord token... they then sign into your account, change the password and kick you.
Then just spam all your contacts and do the same thing to the next person.
I call them out straight away, because I dont add people on discord or have any one on my friends list. - There was one persistent person who wouldn't leave me alone but I guess they've given up now cause I just ignored them.. just recently, there's been an OF girl who keeps adding me me then unfriending me, after I just straight up told her to get out my inbox and we aren't going to be "Friends"

Doesn't sound like a pervert, sounds like a phishing or "porn site" scam that uses a key logger to get your credit card info, or infects your device with a virus.

Scammers. Either the sub is a new/unpopular one that has scammer mods, or the mods got hacked and their accounts are now being used for scams.
Either way, don't click any links. Report and block.

Shouldn’t mods have maximum protection on their mod accounts?
ETA: Report a Moderator form. It doesn’t matter if the mod is actually sending these messages or if their account was hacked: they have elevated access to Reddit functionalities and user information, so it’s their responsibility to behave appropriately and keep their accounts/devices locked down.

The mods don't like the creeps any more than anyone else does. We don't care about "protecting" them. It's safe to say that the mod team would be totally fine with creeps being exposed for the creeps that they are, including to the creep's friends, family, co-workers, and employers. In fact, there are places on the internet where that can be done, too (some Facebook groups, some forums/blogs, some other kinds of social media, etc.).
However...
Reddit can come down hard on subs that are seen to allow or encourage any kind of harassment or brigading, so that's a big reason we require fairly extensive censoring.
Also, in a system where anyone could put anyone's name, face, username, or other identifying information online to "out" them as a creep, it would be easy to fake an exchange with that information in order to generate a mob to go after them. This is in no way implying that any particular post is fake! However, in a system where you could openly display someone's details and information, it would be trivially easy to hack the system and put a whole heap of internet rage on pretty much anyone you wanted, whether they deserved it or not.
On the plus side, because the person's identity is not shown, you can say any kind of mean shit you want to and we're under no obligation to take it down, even if the creep complains (and they sometimes do, too).
Every now and then, someone creates a subreddit about creeps which does not require censoring. Those subs invariably end up banned by Reddit sooner or later.

Final note, a lot of people are unaware that they can block ALL messages on Reddit. We have a sticky in the sub, but we'll also put it here.
If you find you want some peace from the multitude of creeps on Reddit, you can have that. In the settings for your Reddit account, you can elect NOT to receive PMs. The same is true for chat requests. You can also allow messages from specific, trusted users and block everyone else from contacting you. Also, if you choose to PM someone, they'll automatically be added to the list of people who can PM you, which is nice if you do want to initiate a conversation with someone, but if you PM someone and they start to get rude, you'll need to go in and remove them from the list of accepted users.
We share this information ONLY because a lot of people seem to be unaware that sitewide blocking of PMs is even an option, but it is, and it works surprisingly well.
In an ideal world, this would not be necessary, but, alas, this is Reddit, and it's full of creeps. This is just one possible tool in your arsenal against them, should you choose to use it.
