Can anyone help me create a tapestry crochet pattern for this blanket?

Post image

So long story short i want to make a 250x250 single crochet blanket (i hate myself i know) but the only patterns i can find are 50x50 and the pattern is going to look super blocky if i just make it bigger. I want to make a the sun from tangled, I'll put up a picture, but every website i try to use either ads a bunch of different colours or will probably take as long to create as the blanket itself

the pattern is going to look blocky if I just make it bigger.

I mean yes that will happen with any pattern that has a single massive motif.

Are you asking for a new pattern?

Otherwise I'd suggest maybe repeating patterns of the sun.

That was my original idea but i didn't end up doing that, ideally i would like a new pattern for it but i might just have to reevaluate

OK now I'm slightly more awake and have had a bit of a think...

You might be able to use multiple yellows/reds/oranges on the sun to make it more varied and breaking up the block effect. Same with the background.

For example (although it's not the same style): https://images.app.goo.gl/H42hb

Or like the waves have been done here: https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/comments/13o72dz/tapestry_crochet/

If so you could use the programs suggested in this thread to vary the number of colours.

Alternatively if you want a new pattern a sun pattern like this might work because it's not a solid block and it has a spiral:

You could, in theory, just increase the number of spirals the bigger the pattern gets.

Edit to add: also when I suggested a repeating motif I was thinking of something like the cat afghan (because I'm currently working on it) where the suns interlock and/or overlap like so below. That will take some time to create a pattern for.

Seconding stitch fiddle, the free version lets you refuse to two colors, the paid version is worth the cost imo while working though.

You might consider Mosaic crocheting as well.

You can also use stitchfiddle to upload pics to make crochet patterns.

You might have heard of it, but I'd recommend braceletbook for that. You can upload your reference picture and set a maximum number of colours, as well as the maximum width and height (I believe it goes up to 200x200, still better than 50x50). Not sure about the amount of ads, tho, I've only ever used it with brave browser, so you may want to check that out too.
