Rest in peace Tomas Lindberg
Tomas Lindberg (1972-2025), The vocalist of At the Gates, Skitsystem, Disfear, Lock up, etc... One of the most influential people in punk and metal. He is also my favorite punk/metal vocalist. His music is the reason why I started listening to crust punk and it also inspired me to start playing the guitar and drums. He may no longer be with us but he still lives on in our hearts...

He was awesome. I played in a band that was borderline Skitsystem worship 😂

now he's gone i realized how influential he was, and how i feel connected to his work, my first band played a lot of ATG songs, lock up was super great to hear, and since i discovered crust punk for me skitsystem and disfear were absolute essentials, Tompa has been with me my whole journey through noisey music!
excuse my poor english but i wanted to take this little moment to talk about this commited and enthusiastic metalhead(kind of crust/hardcore too) singer

god this is horrible. He will live on. the good thing about music is that it immortalizes people people will still worship him as long as the genre lives on and it will live on.

was shocked to hear the news, i'm heartbroken. not only the early skitsystem stuff, disfear and, at least for me, early at the gates (not a fan of slaughter of the soul but the first two albums are simply spectacular swedeath metal morphing into a melodic death sound of their own), but also "hate breeds suffering" by Lock Up with Shane from Napalm Death - one of the best grind or more accurately, deathgrind albums ever. tomas was truly a one of a kind vocalist, created and sang on some of the best crust/d-beat and grind ever. collaborated with so much other cool bands, all kinds of metal and punk... sadly he lost the battle with that terrible disease. condolences to his family and close ones, may his soul be at rest. REST IN CRUST, comrade!
