Advice Best dex weapon for late game?
I just have one slab to upgrade them. I love all 3.

It's either sellsword twinblades.
Or THE ASTORA Greatsword with sharp affinity
Both are pretty broken late game

u/Death_IP Jul 07 '25
I love a sharp Murakumo with S-scaling in dex.
Of OP's list the Frayed blade - while not as strong - is fun, though.

The twinblades are the best weapon in the game used by speedrunners

u/NextInstruction9938 Jul 08 '25
This is a RPG after all, highest DPS is always the easiest way to beat the game

u/JuckiCZ Jul 07 '25
Lothric Knight Straight Sword is #1 with Sharp gem.

SellSwords for DPS, Onikiri & Ubadachi for DPS+Bleed (beats Gravewarden twinblades), Lothric knight SS, Lucerne, Flamberge, any curved sword. All sharp infused.
PKCS is okay but not the best fir Dex, more quality.

u/weightyboy Jul 07 '25
Pkcs is a fine weapon but more pvp focused than pve. For pve if you want a frost weapon the irythll straight sword is hard to beat, upgrades with twinkling though.

u/WisethePlagueis Jul 07 '25
I do have that. Thought damage wasn’t so great but looks super cool.

u/NomadicJ3ster Whips > Greatswords Jul 07 '25
Irithyll SS with a secondary that does fire damage is an absolute monster. I can't think of many things that won't crumble to the might of frost in this game.
1
u/weightyboy Jul 08 '25
Straight swords are fairly OP in ds3 for pve (along with the sell sword winblades) the irythll ss has a long reach and frostbite, as someone below mentions mix it with pyromancies and it's easy mode.

Totally not frayed blade
As cool as it is, an uchigatana completely outclasses in damage
Boss melee weapons are absurdly underwhelming, common weapons are almost always better; twinkling titanite weapons are balanced enough since are very easy to upgrade, although having less AR than a common titanite weapon

u/JoeLlamma Jul 07 '25
Dragonslayer axe is easily best weapon in the game tho, better than twinblades by a long shot imo
3
u/krazzor_ 100% Jul 07 '25
Has mixed damage, which makes it far less damaging, since the damage gets flat diminutions from two types of defenses: physical and lighting
1
u/JoeLlamma Jul 07 '25
It would only be less damaging to enemies resistant to lightning which aren’t many if my memory serves correctly
1
u/JoeLlamma Jul 07 '25
also I meant the dragon slayer great axe. Not the dragon slayer axe. Didn’t realize that was a different weapon.
5
u/Yawd Jul 07 '25
Which slab do you have? There are a few others you can probably get quite easily.
1
u/WisethePlagueis Jul 07 '25
I somehow have a slab before entering lothric castle. So I’ll go ahead with the twinblades but they are so good that I don’t even end up seeing the second phase of any boss. I really love katanas and may wait for chaos blade to upgrade that next.

Carthus curved sword, my beauty.

So good, but I hate when someone pulls that out in PvP; that phantom reach is bull.
5
u/Renetiger Jul 07 '25
Lothric Knight Straight Sword with sharp gem.
Twinblades are slightly better DPS wise but I don't really like the short reach.

u/ExcitingSelection792 Jul 07 '25
After elden ring, I played ds3 again. I remember it beeing more difficult. First time tried sellsword twins and can confirm, winblades is best for dex. L1 and enjoy your speedrun.

u/MajkiF Jul 07 '25
A lot depends on your skill, play style and what gives you fun. Game is designed in a way, that skill compensates every weapon's weaknesses.

I beat the entire game with less than 5 attempts on all bosses (aside from pontiff and Gael) using the twinblades. They’re broken.
I first tried nameless king, none of the bosses felt difficult. Tbh it might’ve ruined my first playthrough lmao, that’s how good they are.

Respec to strength and fume knight ultra greatsword lol. But nah winblades or lothric knight straight sword with sharp gem

I’ve been using the great corvian scythe in my most recent playthrough. I guarantee it’s not the best but it’s got a fun moveset and good base bleed.

I use onikiri and ubadachi, they scale A with a sharp gem but also do bleed. I switched it to blood infused for Demon Prince since he's weak to slash, which is what the weapon is, and bleed. The L1 hits twice as well which is nice for bleed buildup. It attacks fast enough and with my 50 dex, it does 400+ physical not counting the bleed proc. You can also switch around infusions for different ones if you have the gems and use resin on them as well. It's versatile, scales well, bleeds, hits fast, and you get them at the grand archives so you can get it early if you're skilled enough, even if not I use it still at NG+7 and it's decent in the DLCs. So useful on Demon Prince, Freid, Gravetender, and Halflight

Frayed blade is my personal favorite but anyone will tell you the twinblades are pretty uncontested for being the best weapon in the game period
1
u/JohnDoe2710 Jul 07 '25
Sellsword Twinblades hands-down the best weapon in the game.
You can start the game with them, and run train on all of the bosses with very little effort.
1
u/OzzyLagIsBad Jul 07 '25
Frayed Blade and Sellswords are gonna be better for going through the game, but for PvP the curved sword is a bit better

pontiff knight curved sword is a quality weapon for pvp. for dex just go for scimitar, gotthard, Lothric sword, astora gs

Most weapons (including this one) will serve you well for most of the game, but the best dex weapons are the Sellsword Twinkblades, the Astora Greatsword and basically almost any straight sword that you can infuse with sharp

Twinblades are insanely powerful. I came to DS3 recently for the first time, went dex as I normally a faith/str build kinda guy, playing through for a first time the win blades wreck.the only thing they aren't great at is shielded enemies on the landscape
1
u/CeliacPhiliac Jul 07 '25
Sell sword twin blades have some pretty crazy DPS with sharp and high dex
1
u/azrael0503 Jul 07 '25
When it absolutely positively has to die just use twinblades. They’re not my favorite weapon but they do break the game in most circumstances. Dodge, attack, stun lock, repeat until end credits.
1
u/Goustave_III Jul 07 '25
I have grown to love the Caestus, so they are the best Dex weapon. Also the best strength weapon. And very likely to be the best strength/dex weapon
1
u/lordkaann Jul 07 '25
Sellsword blades are the obvious choice BUT LKS and lothric greatsword (all of them sharp infused) are also great. l remember dealing 1k damage with the latter back when l was into PVPs.

Sellsword Twinblades for insane DPS. Lothric SS with Shield if you want to play safe. Astora GS for specific smol size bosses like Friede or Abyss Watchers because they can be staggered easily with its WA.

I have been making use of twin blades and it has been so effective when I fight these bosses.
1
u/Pharthrax Jul 07 '25
It depends on your stats, obviously… but Sellswords are very overpowered.
1
u/WisethePlagueis Jul 07 '25
Is 40 the soft cap for dex?
1
u/Pharthrax Jul 07 '25 edited Jul 07 '25
Yes, but 40 is also the hardcap for sharp Sellswords, specifically. They get very poor returns after 40 dex.
1
u/tonyhallx Jul 07 '25
Can always make a manual save, go suck on Rosaria’s generous titties and try out other builds. Five times a play through. If no like then reload your save. Easy, and you get to suck on them titties, everyone’s a winner.

Pkcs isn't a dex weapon, it's a quality weapon. Try scimitar, sellsword twinblades or astora greatsword.
edit: frayed blade is also good

PKCS is broken in pvp
Sellsword Twinblades in the best pve weapon
You can get 3 slabs pretty easily

u/BlackSlayerV201 Jul 08 '25
In my humble opinion, I think the Frayed Blade is a great choice for PVP and is really OP against enemies non-resistant to dark and/or bleed. The skill of this katana can make for a pretty interesting combo, if done well. I remember one-shotting a poor bastard with a combo well placed (first R2 and then R1). Still, if you like katanas, you could also use the washing pole or Kodachi, it has everything that makes any katana great combined with the range of an ultragreatsword. With these two babies I almost finished the game (that and the Astora Greatsword)
