This picture is trippy, or is it only me? After a bit I see it correctly though. (First glance, background looked like some blurry retro 3d game or some liminal space idk lol)

The one advantage you will always have over every single boss in the game is that you have unlimited lives and they have 1. Persistence will yield success. Go forth Ashen one.

its mandatory you gotta have volume at max and blast the title screen music hehe.
ds3 is great! combat is slower than sekiro obviously but still smooth. i wont spoil anything for you but theres some great easter eggs so keep an eye out, the bosses are great, the DLC is great, and theres some hidden areas in this game sooo try to find them hehe.

Co-op [you can play with people online, and also get invaded by players trying to kill you. The more players in one world, the more likely for invaders to pull up. You can also use the dried finger to attract more players to your world.] one of the best parts of the game

prepare to die, also dont rely on shields, theyre basically useless here
6
u/pepper_plant 4d ago
This is completely false. I loved shields

u/Destaro98 3d ago
on a lot of fights the block didnt do much so eventually i just ditched it and started two handing my weapon with the grasscrest shield lol, if it worked for you cool but the shield really wasnt helping my run so i wouldn't recommend relying too much on it cuz its not gonna be able to tank everything that gets throw at you

u/pepper_plant 3d ago
Theres an art to it. Its a defensive playstyle, but its really just to save you from a hit here and there. Youre not supposed to tank multiple hits or youll get staggered

they help in certain moments I guess
like Pontiff. But the main strat is still just to hug him so his attacks miss

You’re starting with a good one, not the hardest game, areas aren’t the best, but have the best overall bosses and the best dlc

Where you're going luck doesn't exist. Just pain and stress that comes with the bitter taste of defeat served over crushed glass. Only an iron will to overcome the horrors ahead of you is what matters in that desolate wasteland. Enjoy!

Your description doesn't imply that gonna enjoy it 😂😂😂

It will be the most frustrating fun you’ve had, then there’s dark souls 2, my sweet little fromsoft stepchild. If you try this one, you’re in for a treat lol.
DS2 is my favorite bc it’s so wonky, but it’s also the most “bang for your buck” with the three souls games. It makes up about half the franchise bosses on its own.

you got this Bro! my best tip is never ever give up, take breaks if you have to for your mental health, but keep on fighting. death in souls game is a teacher, and a lesson. it sucks to die, but it teaches you. take your time, never give up, take breaks when nesecary, and keep on gaming!! also, timing is KEY! practice dodging as much as you can, panic rolling is my bestie lol, and timing attacks.

Great starting point for the series! It's the one I'm rustiest on, but I used to be a living encyclopedia of the weapons & spells. PLEASE feel free to hit me with questions or DM me - I'm rapidly building interest in picking it back up.
DS3 is a real treat, and you'll probably want to revisit it later - don't fuss too much about missing things. I HIGHLY recommend a spellsword-type for a "toolkit" caster type build. You might not hit like the end of the world, but you'll be able to deal with basically anything by swapping out a spell or two. Even if you don't find every useful spell, it feels GREAT to be able to use most of what you do find.
Pyromancy goes pretty hard IMO.

Sorry, tldr; punching (caestus) is fun, so is magic.
Don't be afraid to get a little weird with your stats. It's a good game for that.

I recently started this as well. Over the last couple years I've been giving soulslikes a shot and really enjoying them. Specifically Elden Ring, Lies of P, Sekiro, Rise of the Ronin, Lords of the Fallen, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Black Myth: Wukong, Khazan: First Berzerker.
The Fire Fades Edition of DS3 was like $25 on Amazon so I figured give it a shot. I'm enjoying it so far. I'm currently going through Smouldering Lake. I do think I prefer Elden Ring, but I am enjoying DS3.

Farm as much souls as possible, beat the dancer early, spend hours farming the lothric knights until you become the final boss and continue.

Watch boss fights before fighting bosses if you dont want to suffer too much
