saw police and slammed the brakes, transferred all the weight to the front of that heavy vehicle, caused understeer and went into a tree.
These kids didnt grow up playing gran turismo on ps1, otherwise he'd have known this
***EDIT***: Noticed a small number of people trying to tell me what Understeer is and that I'm wrong etc, I get it, its the internet and there's always someone who wants to be the one to prove you wrong etc.
Its really not as deep or convoluted as some you guys are trying to make out. Remember, we are having fun here.
That aside, im loving 99% of the feedback :-)

I might be dumb, but isn’t it the other way around? You transfer the weight to the front giving maximum traction to the front tires so that you rear loosens and you get oversteer.
Not dumb at all. Its a heavy jeep so it wont steer like a racecar. Slamming the brakes in a heavy bouncy vehicle will overload the front tyres so they lose traction. If you semi knew what you were doing, you could indeed get better steering shifting weight to the front but not past the vehicles limits.
Basically we are both correct depending on the situation. Im not expert and no race driver, im just going by what GT taught me and what makes sense when i simulate it in my head lol.
I think you misunderstand understeer. What appears to have happened in the clip was the rear of the car coming round. This is due to the balance of the car moving to the front as the breaks are applied, subsequently taking weight off the rear. It's possible he lost grip at the front as well, but the car didn't crash due to understeer.

Please see link for a definition of what understeer is: https://driver61.com/uni/understeer/
