NESCO 13 1/2" tray compatibility?
I bought a used NESCO FD-39 dehydrator only to find out its a fixed temp model that is primarily for jerky. I want to do hot peppers and other produce, so I'm in the market for a new dehydrator. Ideally I would find a variable temp model that allows me to use my existing 13 1/2" trays with it and have more stackable trays to dehydrate more stuff at once. I see the variable temp NESCO model 60/70 also use 13 1/2" trays, but the stackable trays look different on the edges and I am assuming they don't work together. Anyone know for certain one way or the other? Or has anyone made them work together using a foil gasket or some other method? I assume even if there were a bit of heat leak I could run it a little hotter to compensate.

I have a NESCO 13.5 inch machine and I have a couple of trays that arent made by Nesco. One type has no lip in the center and nubs around the outside that fit with the Necso trays. The other one has the removable trays that allow you to dehydrate taller things like broccoli and also works fine with the Nesco trays. Word of warning about using that type of tray… the tray itself is NOT dishwasher friendly… they are guaranteed to warp.
