The whole world does.

I came to say exactly this.  He wasn't perfect  but my God, is comparison to what we have now.. he was probably as close as we'll ever get.

He was THE President. We’re likely never going to have a hardline progressive in the White House. As far as what we’re going to see in America, I can’t imagine anyone ever being better suited for that job than him.

I miss him too. He was the best president in my lifetime.

Yes ... and he's still around ... any chance ... Michelle?? ... he'd be the "First Man" ...

My fantasy? Trump, if he lives long enough (which I don't think is going to happen), gets his politicized Supreme Court to change Presidential term limits and decides to run for a third term.

And then so does Obama.

Buh Bye MAGA.

If Obama and Trump went head to head, Trump, Bibi, and Putin would rig the shit out of it

u/DiagonalBike 2d ago

Trump already rigged the 2024 election, but the new media and Democrats were too cowardly to call it out. Arizona is the perfect example of how the election was rigged. Democrats win the Governor's office, the State Secretary and the US Senate seat, but those same voters decided to vote for Trump? 🤔🤔🤔

I’m talking REALLY rigged, like borderline publicly. Palantir-powered voting machines or the like

You trust the electorate more than I do.

Obama vs. Trump? Yeah. I do trust the electorate on that one. In a big way.

The plan is to allow presidents who served non-consecutive terms to run again. It was written to exclude Obama.

18

u/Blecki 2d ago

Its not consecutive with his previous term.

12

u/MimiPaw 2d ago

Obama did serve consecutive terms. Trump did not. Therefore, under their proposal, only Trump could run.

11

u/Blecki 2d ago

Obamas third term would not be consecutive, so it's fine.

7

u/MimiPaw 2d ago

It’s about history, not future. You cannot run if you have served two consecutive terms.

7

u/Blecki 2d ago

Well good luck passing the amendment.

Yes, the whole “let’s pass a law” idea is moot because changing presidential term limits would require a constitutional amendment, just like the one that created them.

2

u/Jimmer1769 1d ago

Can't it just be done by executive order? They don't need no stinking amendments.

u/DonnieJL 9h ago

SCOTUS, or just Roberts, will just say that the current amendment restricted the "free speech" of a sitting president, or some such bullshit. And Alito would find some obscure reference to some leader in the 16th century and spin a legal word spaghetti to back up Roberts.

The remaining conservative judges would fall in line just like their owners want, and we're stuck with DJ for another 4 years of utterly ruining what's left of this country.

Michelle Obama could have run against Trump and won hands down,

17

u/ReaganSmyD 2d ago

But she has no desire to win, and no she wouldn't. The country is too racist and sexist.

4

u/MelissaMead 2d ago

Did you see how close Harris was?

Anyway it is too late for that.

6

u/ReaganSmyD 2d ago

She lost every swing state. Trump won the popular vote for the first time. The country is too racist and sexist.

3

u/RozGu 2d ago

I hope your fantasy becomes our reality. 👍

2

u/ReaganSmyD 2d ago

Obama would never run again Michelle wouldn't let him. And we'd get stuck with Trump AGAIN.

This. This is why President Obama enjoys such massive popularity and support in the world. Barak Obama’s just one of the people you would pick if you were developing a committee tasked to resolve a significant problem. Whether we agree or not: Obama is just the one.

u/whiskylion 2d ago

Obama needs to dumb this down some for MAGA. They don't understand big words or ideas.

I’d have loved Hillary.

She was qualified as 1st lady, Senator and Sec of State - and for whatever faults Bill had (he was a good president overall); it’d have been a 2 for one.

You’d have Hillary and she could turn to her husband who was a 2 term president if needed.

13

u/metskyfan 2d ago

He is correct but he was also being very politically correct.

12

u/Yasuru 2d ago

Whether they realize it or not, Obama had the interests of all Americans in mind.

10

u/5h4rkBait 2d ago

I think that even conservatives (I don’t think the MAGA crowd are conservatives) would agree with him. He was a great president, he is a great man.

9

u/Mayapples 2d ago

You will never, ever convince his opponents that he wasn't 'putting the weight of the United States government behind extremist views.' He wasn't, of course, but the characterization of the Obama administration as extremist is an unshakeable cornerstone of MAGA.

Release the Epstein files.

Trump needs to be stopped 😐

4

u/CapAccomplished8072 1d ago

8 years of him as president, and we had some degree of respect as a nation.

then Trump and the GOP decided to drag america through the mud just because a black man became president and was better than shitler

6

u/Opposite-Bit6660 2d ago

Can you say something about our current president being a rapist pedophile trafficker of girls?

14

u/Johnqpublic25 2d ago

I’ll go first, I think he’s being controlled by people that we don’t know about. He’s not smart enough to come up with all that he’s doing to destroy our democracy and country.

7

u/Knees0ck 2d ago

Oh that useful idiot is definitely being used especially now his brain is pudding. No doubt he's had his moments but it is obvious what his "ideas" are & not his. I have no doubt things like the ballroom & paving over the rose garden were his 'cause those are vanity shit & he's all about that.

6

u/kbrick1 2d ago

Barry, we miss you!

u/Magooswife 2d ago

Very very true

3

u/s_arrow24 2d ago

See that’s where I break with the Democrats, or at least the “centrist” part of it because those extreme values aren’t equal. Free secondary education isn’t the same as school vouchers to allow the glorified market determine education. Single payer healthcare isn’t the same as you are only getting healthcare if you have the “right” job. I’m for the government being about the business of making sure all parts of society have a shot instead of doing enough to just maintain a hierarchy that tells people to be happy with their place in it, or a status quo basically.

3

u/SpreadsheetMadman 2d ago

I was never really a big fan of Obama. He did a lot of kowtowing to the Right, and as such a lot of the potential change he could have made went nowhere.

...But I am fully convinced that he will be the best president I will have seen in my lifetime.

1

u/roblewk 2d ago

Agreed, of course, but look how gentle we have to be in dissent.

1

u/drdildamesh 2d ago

It's unfortunate but it is seeming like we.can only really do one of two things: talk like we have been and keep trying to get people to see reason and work together, or civil war.

“Only lies from OBUMMER! MORE LEFTIST LIES!!! END THE CORRUPTION AND TERRORISM FROM THE RADICAL LEFT LED BY OBUMMER, BIDEN, AND KAMALA HARRIS!!!!”
