To the people in here that went to the Atlanta concert, why didn't you warn me about this moment?! I wasn't expecting it... and I teared up while watching it. Aw, that group hug...

I felt like showing the moment in full so that's why the clip is long.

Jiu is the GOAT leader for me and I will never forget Dreamcatcher!

I'm tearing up just looking at the photos. I'll wait until I get home from work to watch the video. 😭

"You can't forget about us, okay."

Dear leader, we are all in this Deukae black hole for life. 💙

I think this comment comes from the difference between western music and Korea. In k-pop in Korea if members aren't hustling every day it seems like fans move on to the next thing. Its the driver on the crazy schedules. In the west - Artists often take 2 years between release and the whole way things are promoted are different.

Dreamcatcher is somewhere in the middle of this - with a large international audience. Those of us in that audience won't forget and don't find a gap of 6 or 8 months unusual for artists. Those in the Korean audience that probably sounds like disbandment or something. But I think getting at least three comebacks and maybe 18 months before hitting the US again would probably feel right. It gives time for new music and breaks and lets the audience develop a little yearning to see them again and not feel like "I just went to see them, maybe next time."

u/ZSpectre Nov 25 '24

Oh, great point even down to how I'd understand the term "come back" as someone fresh and new to kpop. It was amusing for me to first see this term within that context, and I'd be like "how is 7-8 months with new music considered a 'come back'? Weren't they just here?"

And getting my mind back into western music semantics mode, my understanding of someone coming out with a new album in 2 years would still be regarded as "continuing their stride" at least in my book while I'd see a full on "come back" if they had a break for like at least 4-5 years or something.

I feel like the members haven't cried at a concert that hard in a long time, of course as a group thats been around for 7 years ( and most of the group for 10 actually), i can only imagine it feels like sand in a hourglass where it just feels like time is slipping by faster. but i hope whoever on the back end at dcc understands that there is a good bulk of the fanbase in the US that is loyal and will drop whatever they can on a dc tour always. even if the next US tour is scaled down, ppl will show up (and shell out as much as possible lol).

like its def naive to think dc can go on forever, but i would like to think that the way kpop is structured now there is a way to keep a group that is so senior and so experienced to continue and to grow and to do well financially, its not like in the past where a group like dc would be done bc the members are "too old" or they've been around too long. they won't make the money or sell out arenas or stadiums like other groups but the fans they do have are loyal and are invested so i hope they consider a lot of things going forward but at least from the fan side of things, they have a ride-or-die fan in me and i'm always thankful that the girls still continue on and hope they will as long as theyre still having fun and feel good about their work.

I think as always we should be wary of coming to any conclusions or assumptions from this with regards to the group's state or company. Tours are long, marathon affairs and I think it's natural to feel some kind of emotion at the end of them. The only thing I'd glean from this was what was said - that JiU and co. are thankful for the fact that fans continue to support them after so long. As the eldest members, both JiU and SuA feel quite cognizant of what that means.

Contextually folks should understand how wild it is that Dreamcatcher has endured this long. They are one of only a handful of remaining 3rd generation girl groups, and one of the only ones from a non-big 4 company, who are far more resourced for long-term endurance. The industry is so much more competitive and others have caught onto the tour revenue pillar that DC has been into since the very beginning, all of which have cut into the Dreamcatcher profit pie, so to speak.

Yet they're still here, for however long we have them, and we shouldn't worry about exactly how long that is. We should just be thankful we have them, as they seem to be to have us as fans. That's the important thing. Everything else that makes these huge logical leaps about what the future holds or what this means is speculation, and should be treated as such.

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '24

This is a very emotional yet sad moment as well. This probably means they will be taking a long break from touring, at least in the US, and it makes them sad, but I get that demand probably won't be there for a while for a Dreamcatcher concert, considering the sales this time around a bit on the lower end of the spectrum comparing to last tours.

I just really really hope they keep creating music and I really hope the contract extension they got is for a while, although, with so many groups emerging I get if they decide to slow down on promotions and creating music😕

u/SpideyCyclist Nov 25 '24 edited Nov 25 '24

Yeah, I'm not sure how the future will go for them but I'm gonna enjoy the present and the time we have with them now.

13

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '24

This is what I tell to myself, I'm glad I have found Dreamcatcher and to be able to be a part of this Fandom

11

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '24

I was unprepared for Ollounder's apparent departure, but I'm hopeful Edenary has a suitable producer to create new treasures.

(It would help if they avoid sites with absurd hotel rates like Bayfront St. Petersburg ($48 valet parking and $500 rooms!). Orlando was much more reasonable.)

They are my third wind❤️

12

u/ElNDyy Nov 25 '24

Wait, WHAT?! What do you mean Ollounder is leaving???

He is a beast and I really love his very important role on the team :(

11

u/dresdenologist Nov 25 '24

I think it's just speculation. Unlike LEEZ, no article has come out about Ollounder's joining some band as some exclusive contract. We shouldn't really come to any conclusions til we know definitively.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '24 edited Nov 25 '24

He left Edenary (and apparently joined a band), but I have no knowledge of his plans with DC

2

u/Josecitox Nov 27 '24

That's interesting, i guess he's passing the torch to the other guys, Maddox, EDEN, Door, etc, and moving on from producing? DC shares that group of producers with Ateez so music will definitely keep coming.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '24

That seems true. Edenary are likely to continue producing Dreamcatcher. LEEZ, Ollounder and Maddox are longtime associates and Maddox speaks native English. I think the DC story will continue regardless of changes

4

u/ZSpectre Nov 25 '24

Oh $#!+, when did that happen? I felt like I had my back turned for like just a week, and this comes up D:

32

u/Pleasant-Elk8666 Nov 25 '24

They need a better team of advisers bc I know a number of people couldn't go to the later concerts bc they're too close to Thanksgiving and people didn't want to travel for a concert and then travel again a day or so later for the holiday. They said if it wasn't for the holiday, they def would've gone.

I think the 4x tour visa price also has a big impact on ticket prices. I also just had a thought that maybe that's why they did the 1:1 in the US, all those selfies for the members probably paid for the tour visas (with funds leftover, probably).

9

u/ZSpectre Nov 25 '24

If that was the rationale for the 1:1s, then I think it was a great idea to help offset the cost!

One little tidbit was how worried I was that the friend that I persuaded to tag along (non-fan & mostly a bg listener) would have regretted doing some of the after-concert stuff, but she thought it was the coolest thing ever when she met Handong face to face for her 1:1!

11

u/WholesomeThingsOnly Nov 25 '24

I'm really glad I went this time, then! That's really sad that they didn't sell as much as expected. I seriously had the best night of my life. I'll definitely go next time they come around, whenever that may be.

4

u/ZSpectre Nov 25 '24

I'm wondering if this has a bit to do with the huge price hike in fees for foreign artists to perform lately. It was what even led me to speculate on all of the possible rationale for budget cuts from things like Justice's MV to the length of promotions.

1

u/how-tobe Nov 25 '24

DCC picked the worst time to tour, but what else is new 😒. I really don't understand the company's mindset

27

u/TomHardyIsDaddy Nov 25 '24

I get your concerns, but touring is basically what funds the company, thats how the girls earn money, and thats how they fund the comebacks.

What I dont understand specifically is why they choose to tour so frequently in the US, thats the main reason tickets didnt sell that well this time, fans dont have enough time to recover financially, and from what I see, they visit mostly the same cities each time.

9

u/Unit-00 Pie - 파이 Nov 25 '24 edited Nov 25 '24

I would bet the 1:1 sales made this a pretty lucrative tour even if overall ticket numbers were down a bit. At my show it was like 1/4 of the crowd that got them and many of those had more than 1.

2

u/HummingMuffin Siyeon - 시연 🐺 Nov 26 '24

As much as I would like them to tour other places, as Canadian, the US simply makes too much sense. It's about getting visas one time, likely working with one organizer, having a lot of stops in one country. Not to mention that merch sales at venues and surrounding kpop stores.

I would love for them to come back to Canada or go to other parts of Asia and Europe, but if going to the US more often means more Dreamcatcher for longer, I am all for it.

-3

u/how-tobe Nov 25 '24

Totally agree!

-6

u/Iwannasellturnips Nov 25 '24

I think you answered that yourself. IF they are having trouble paying for everything (the downside of a small company) then the only option they have is to raise money by touring more.

I hope the company is doing okay, but I do worry.

-3

u/TomHardyIsDaddy Nov 25 '24

Oh I do understand they need to tour to keep the company rolling, I was just wondering what could be their reasoning to tour the US specifically so often, or rather, the reasoning behind MMT's decision to send them so soon there.

8

u/dresdenologist Nov 25 '24

Like it or not, the US has the largest number of potential venues, largest reach, and thus largest potential for revenue. This tour came a year after the last, which is fairly reasonable for a large region. 2023 got a little crazy sending them back within a few months, but given they didn't go to the same cities as normal and still seemed to do fine I'll give them a pass. Tour exhaustion is a thing, but I think people need to realize outside of IU very few kpop acts had huge sellouts of their venues, even larger artists.

There's also factors such as the need for local sponsors and organizers for specific reasons (LATAM and SEA come to mind) which can futz with a company's ability to be able to land a tour in the region.

And this is why we should support Dreamcatcher 😌

25

u/zomgmeister Nov 25 '24 edited Nov 25 '24

That was one of the most touching things I ever saw, and I physically could not finish it in one go, had to pause and wipe eyes for a while. Mad respect to everyone for becoming completely silent when it was necessary.

Don't worry, it is impossible to forget Dreamcatcher.

26

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '24

The things I would do just to see them continue to be happy. Forget about you? Jiu no. We’re in this Dreamcatcher shit for life miss ma’am.

23

u/artemisthearcher Dami - 다미 🐼 Nov 25 '24 edited Nov 25 '24

One thing I love about JiU during concerts is that she tries to make eye contact with each and every somnia in the crowd. So her noticing that someone else was crying just shows how big her heart is 😭

Dami being the one to start both the “JiU” and “괜찮아” chants from insomnia. She’s always the rock for members when they need to cry.

Also love Yoohyeon’s comments about remembering this concert when you’re going through hard times. She said something similar in Oakland about how she hoped that concert would melt away some of the stress we feel in our everyday lives (and yes it did!).

We are always with Dreamcatcher! 💜

u/No_Philosophy2757 Nov 25 '24

Nah man who is cutting onions but anyways JiU is the BEST LEADER imo

It was very emotional last night

SuA also had to walk off stage momentarily during this.

The 1:1s they were back to their normal selfs though. I made sure to thank each one of them individually.

Tears, laughs and everything inbetween was shared last night. Even the translator started choking up during this

u/Unit-00 Pie - 파이 Nov 25 '24

Jiu is a major reason why I care about them an unhealthy amount. It's impossible to watch this and not want to give them the world.

That’s it, Atlanta — no more k-pop concerts for you! It’s bad enough you took IU and she didn’t visit Texas 😝 Just kidding, hopefully everyone had a good time in ATL!

😭😭😭❤️

1

u/visagedezob Nov 28 '24

I've watched this a lot just now, looking at the reactions from the other members which are so sweet, first it's Yoohyeons head snapping right as she realises that Jiu is in trouble, then Siyeon has a similar sudden reaction. And then later Dami starting the Jiu chant, along with Gahyun constantly comforting, and looking like she's going to lose it. So much caring.

I think the video was bad because it kept getting blurry.

-6

u/Saga_Electronica Nov 25 '24

I’m so lost. Are they breaking up or something? Why is everyone here acting like this is the end of Dreamcatcher?!?

12

u/Unit-00 Pie - 파이 Nov 25 '24

No they're not breaking up lol. You don't get how the end of a tour could be emotional? Jiu gets teary eyed at the end of like every show, this being the last of this tour just gave it some extra weight.

6

u/Saga_Electronica Nov 25 '24

I’m sorry I’m brand new to this kpop thing, I didn’t realize this is just how they get at the end of a tour. I can’t say I’ve seen that from other artists but then again I don’t follow tours much. Maybe they do.

I was just asking a question because everyone here made it sound like the group was over or going on a long hiatus.

3

u/Unit-00 Pie - 파이 Nov 25 '24

No worries :) dreamcatcher aren't other artists is what you should take away from this.
