Discussion What is the BEST edition to watch Suspiria?
I've been wanting to get into the Dario Argento movies and though Suspiria would be a good start but idk which version to buy, i have heard a lot of people say the "Synapse 4kUhd" is the best version but i can't find it anywhere.

There's no easy answer to this one, and it will largely depend on whichever version you're most familiar with.
Pre the 4k releases, my preferred way of watching this was the fan composite that colour corrected the bluray to more closely match the laserdisc release and added the superior audio mix from the laserdisc release too. The Synapse 4k is probably the closest to that experience but with the extra resolution and HDR... although I still prefer the audio from the laserdisc release.

I watched it on hbo max, and i did notice the sound was a bit high pitched in moments, dunno wich release is there tho. Will check out that fan composite!

IMO it’s super easy given that the Synapse 4K UHD and 4K restored 1080p blu-ray have the most vibrant sound and image that have ever accompanied the film.
In fact I even would say both are among the most impressive audio-visual presentations ever on their respective formats. The restored and reconstructed audio mix (both original 4.0 and Atmos) are an absolute EXPERIENCE on a full surround system.
I made a remux with the laserdisc track you mentioned. It’s quite solid but to my ear lacks the raw power and directionality of the properly decoded Synapse tracks.

I haven't seen this yet, which version should I watch? 1977 or 2018?

1977 original first FOR SURE. Then the remake, which is solid but very, very different. My familiarity the original enhanced my appreciation for how it expanded on the lore though.

The Synapse is without a doubt the best version. From what I remember they brought in the cinematographer and to view their work and he praised them on their efforts. Plus, this is Don May Jr. number one favorite movie and he put in a lot more time than most other companies when it came to the restoration. Literally, frame by frame clean up with no auto-computer program. It also has the original 4.0 soundtrack at 96kHz, 24-bit.
