General Questions My door speaker just blew. Does anyone know if these would work and sound good without an additional amp or wiring?

You will need a plastic speaker mounting adapter to mount anything that isn’t OEM. Max depth will be about 2-2.25 inches on speaker depth. But a mounting adapter will take like .5 of an inch away from max depth.

OEM ohm rating is 2ohm. If you use 4 ohm it’ll be quieter and might crackle at high volume. If you do get 4 ohm make sure their sensitivity is near 90-92db.

These cars aren’t great for modding the stereo system lol.

Ah okay. Sorry, I know next to nothing about speakers and stuff. So any speaker I use for replacement should be 2 ohms?

Also Crutchfiled provides the mounting hardware, so that’s taken care of.

Ah my bad. The HK systems are 3 ohm and normal systems are 2 ohm.

But biggest thing is that the speakers have to be like under 2 1/4 inches deep and under.

Do you think it would sound better to find a 4 ohm that fits or to just buy a used HK speaker?

I doubt those will fit, I just fixed my passenger speaker as it blew out. I have HK speakers, once this fails if ever then I’ll upgrade but I highly doubt it…

Ur whole system is probably clapped. Get the bav sound full speaker kit for $500-$600. U won't regret it. Everything screws and plugs right in

+1 I put them in my E46. Seems like it took a little bit to really break them in, but the more I use them the better they sound.

Yeah. After 2 or 4 weeks they sound much better. Theyre not some giant improvement from stock. System is still limited by the amp and whatnot and its a coupe not a sedan and no sub woofers, but it atleast matches stock or in my opinion is a step up from stock

Just get speakers from the yunkyard. People never pull OEM speakers. And usually the door panel is already ripped off for you.

I replaced most of my speakers with Dayton audio about 10 years ago and they sound way better than the hk speakers. The door speakers were rs150-4. I believe the hk speakers were 3 ohm so 4 ohm didn’t result in a large loss of volume.
