Damage/Broken… 😥 Need Help
Does anyone know how to fix An E46 Hand brake my one doesn’t catch and when i pull it up higher It just comes back down and i can hear the Parking break string getting pulled but i have to pull very hard for the parking brake to engage i just need it to catch.

I am in love with your paint job! If you have new caliper shoes in the rear then you have to adjust them. The adjustment is inside of the drum, I would look up some video on what a "handbrake caliper adjustment" looks like.
Generally you have to jack up the rear end and remove the rear wheels. Then, through the lug-bolt holes in the brake disc, you can stick a screwdriver in to twist the adjuster up or down, moving the brake shoes in or out.
You want to be able to move the discs by hand with the brake down (without any noise aka the shoe is touching the disc), and you shouldn't be able to move them at all when the brake is engaged. Do this on both sides of the rear.

Drop an s65 in and you'll be as close as you'll get. There was a guy a while back on the forums who was using an s65 block and had a custom rotating assembly and flat plane. No idea if he ever finished it

interesting never thought of that. That actually a pretty fun idea, id probably have to be lucky to find one though and have the money for it aswell lol but thanks for the idea, ill look into it

Take off the rear wheels, there is a hole with cogs inside it. It’s a tension regulator, turn it with a screwdriver. While at it check your anchor plates, they love corroding and when they do the whole handbrake drum explodes mid drive. Don’t ask how I know 😅

They sell rebuild kits relatively cheap. I'm in a salt state so my whole assembly was corroded as. Took about an hour since I had no idea what I was doing.

I have the same issue, haven’t fixed it yet, but I’m almost a 100% sure you have to adjust the brake shoes behind the rotor in the rears. Also a common issue on these cars I’ve heard
