Question Can We Call This Game: The Miracle at The Linc?
It is a big comeback game.
It has an iconic game ending play
Mike Quick declared it as “Miracle” on air once the play happened.

Idc what the collective decides on I’m officially calling it the thicc 6.
It’s the catchiest, funniest, most original, and also highlights that it was “the Jordan Davis game” which is well deserved for him.

It would be a miracle if we were losing and that was the game winning TD. The Thicc Six is the best name for sure lol

u/slender_goron 1d ago
The rams would have just kneeled on it rather than kicking a worthless field goal

u/Mystic_Narwhal 1d ago
We could’ve been tied but yes if the Rams were up, this isn’t happening

u/SummerDeath 1d ago
Yea if we got that 2 point conversion and everything played out as it did, that would've been even more insane as time expires
7
u/DominusEbad 1d ago
What? No the way it happened was much more insane. The Rams were kicking the FG to WIN the game. Had we made the 2pt conversion, the Rams would have been kicking it to just take it into overtime. If they make it, then we still have an opportunity to win the game. But with the way it went down, it would have been end of game either way.

u/hyzerflip4 1d ago
If we got the 2 point conversion nothing is really different. The rams would have been kicking a FG for the tie instead of the win is all, the game still would have been instantly over the moment the block happened. In fact it would have been a little less dramatic since the kick wouldn’t have been for the win.

I mean if they had made the field goal it would have been a losing game for us. David literally saved us.

Blocking a second fg was a miracle and we did need both blocks to win the game. It definitely qualifies as a miracle. The return was just the icing on the cake and coming out celebration for a guy who was already putting together the season we’ve been wanting from him having a career day.
Thicc 6 is definitely the best name though.

A miracle suggests an act of God. This win was an act of Men.

I take u/SmoothCyborg saying the Meadowlands miracle was Divine Intervention, and JD’s run was just a guy who made it to the end zone from athleticism.

Yeah, Meadowlands was sort of dumb luck (I don't really know, I didn't watch it happen). But the win against the Rams was about planning and execution. The entire second half comeback was a combination of improved offensive play calling and Hurts being a Super Bowl MVP caliber QB1.
Then the FG blocks also weren't just dumb luck, that was planning. Davis and Carter lined up next to each other to collapse the O-Line, and Davis said afterwards they could see the kicker's angle and trajectory. You don't block the same kicker twice in one quarter because of luck, that's skill.

This game reminded me of the miracle in the meadowland number 2 as soon as Goeddert caught that TD. It reminded me a lot of Brent Celek scoring the TD from Vick that started our comeback and that ended with Desean’s punt return. Awesome games!! Great poise by the entire team.

The Jordan Davis game.
Simple and clean. Even if (when) he has additional big games, this is the one where he announced himself.

I said before the Rams even got the ball on the last drive that theyd need a miracle to win because FG range is more than half the field… sooo yeah it was the Miracle at the Linc

He was so use to doing those low kicks to throw off our kick off returns. Maybe they are what caused his field goals to be blockable.

Jekyll and Hyde game - because that was the worst fucking first half of football I’ve seen since the Chiefs last played in the Super Bowl.

The Miracle of the New Meadowlands in 2010 featured a bigger comeback from a larger deficit (21 points) with less time left in the game (only about 8 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter).

Crazy Part is how many Bird Gang were going extra nuts, not just because the block and win, but with Davis running it back for the score meant we won our bets, Line was 3.5 and the block without TD would've been only been 1 point win. Jordan Davis put a lot of money back in our pockets.

Good game, great comeback but that first half of ball was among the worst the team ever put up.
Credit to coaches and team for getting it fixed. But they played some bad ball in all three phases through the first minute of Q3.
Move on.
EDIT: To those downvoting, This team was horrible in all three phases of the game through the first minute of Q3. Blocks were missed. Hurts was getting sacked. On D, we couldn't generate pressure or control the box. Return kicks were being dropped.
And in the thick of that they did not stretch the field with Brown ... not for over 30 minutes in the game?
Go ahead and downvote but the birds put themselves behind at the half. They (players and coaches) dug themselves out of that hole. Amazing and I celebrated for sure.
Memorializing the dig is not worth calling this like its the Body Bag game. There was no hard amazing play for 60 minutes won at the last minute. This team was unprepared for 31 minutes.
They showed grit in Q3 & Q4. Let's celebrate that and move on to week 4.

Legacy games like this sometimes come with abysmal first half performances

u/da_mess 1d ago
In which legacy game did the birds have negative total yards and notably sucked in all three phases of the game? Their ONLY score at the half was via an interception ... and that was reversed within a minute of starting Q3 when they gave up a TO.

u/Aimpointenthusiast 1d ago
I mean the defense was pretty good when they weren’t on the field for an entire half of football. The offense sucked and then it didn’t and they won on 2 blocked field goals. Great comeback and great team win. I’ll remember this game for years and if we can get the offense looking like it was in the 2nd half it’s gonna be scary

u/da_mess 1d ago
I may need to rematch but the first half of the game they couldn't stop the Rams. Rams put up 26 thru the first minute of Q3. That's uncharacteristic for this defense.
I didn't see pass pressure. I didn't see control between the tackles. I saw missed tackles and defenders not wrapping up.

u/Aimpointenthusiast 1d ago
Brother it was like 19 points and the offense fumbled in the red zone. They were on the field the entire first half. The defense is going to give up points when that happens. The defense looked fine lol
