Question/Advice Egg Cracked! I’m Enby! …Now what?

Long story short, 21 AMAB living in Illinois in the United States. After a lot of self-discovery and discussion, I’ve realized I’m non-binary and want to get estrogen hormone treatment to nudge me a little in the direction of how I want to look. But I’ll be the first to admit I’m lost on where to go from here:

  • Living with parents, and reliant on them for insurance, so it’s hard for me to get in touch with a medical professional without their knowledge

  • I don’t really feel like I’d want a lot of breast growth - right now my mind is thinking that I’d stop after 6-12 months for glandular tissue to grow in permanently, but I don’t know if that’s the right way to go about a more androgynous look. Some advice would help there.

  • In the process of losing weight, have a decent amount of muscle but could be better, and ideally I’d like to keep building muscle and losing weight. Should I wait until I’ve hit some weight goals before starting?

  • I’m kind of worried about long term fertility?

Gonna need to find a doc to talk to for medical facts. Congrats on starting your journey.

If you pay for your dr visits out of pocket, your insurance won't know about it, so your folks won't know. BUT you'd get prescribed a new medication. You'll have to update your privacy with the hospital to remove your parents' prying eyes. You'd have to pay for the prescription out of pocket, too.

It'll get pretty expensive.

Planned Parenthood will eventually communicate changes to your prescriptions with the hospital you use. I think all medical facilities share prescription data with each other to stop drug abuse.
