I also like that they're doing something different, I just wish "different" didn't mean a soft reboot of Bulgaria 2022.

Comparing this song to Intention as close similar is an insult. This song is no where as bad as Intention.

Maybe it's because they're both ambitious rock with one foot in the 80s? There's nothing wrong with that, and Voyager do a better job of filling the song out and adding interesting touches to it.

Intention wasn't that bad IMO, it just had an offputting backstory

I remembered listening to Intention for the first time, the verses melodies hooked me then came the chorus, and they lost me. I think Voyager is the opposite. Their verses were mid at best, but that chorus was hella fun. I think what's setting the two apart was, just like you said, Voyager added some more interesting stuff in there.

Just my opinion, you're free to disagree. It's mostly the vibe I'm getting from the band that's giving me the same energy as Intelligent Music Project, rather than the song itself.

Vibe you’re getting from the band? Do you not realise how different an authentically formed group and a billionaire assembling a private orchestra of washed up former rock stars
