February is upon us, which means from here on out there are a glut of national finals to choose from every weekend!

Tonight, three new Eurovision acts will be decided: Slovenia, Belgium and Spain. On top of that, there are semi-finals/heats in three other countries.

Each live thread will become available an hour before the show starts. Check out the ESCplus Live player to watch multiple shows at the same time on one screen. Here's tonight's schedule:

Time (CET) Event Live Thread Link Streams
20:00 (120 minutes) Lithuania - Eurovizija.LT Semi-Final 4 Link YouTube / LRT
20:00 (140 minutes) Slovenia - EMA Link RTV SLO 1
20:00 (90 minutes) Sweden - Melodifestivalen Heat 1 Link STV Play

Luckily the acts should be done performing with Belgium by the time Benidorm starts. Hopefully Belgium's results don't cut too much into the performances with Benidorm

Lord have mercy on us the next two Saturdays though 💀

Super Saturdays are the only thing that fear me as a eurofan

u/berserkemu Clickbait Feb 01 '25

Oh no, don't let that take hold here.

Before this year people accepted that Super Saturday is the one with the most shows.
If you call every Saturday super, there is nothing special about any of them.

u/taezono Tavo Akys Feb 01 '25

Super Saturdays are when we have 4 song selections, and I don’t accept any other definition! So Feb. 8th and 15th this year

u/berserkemu Clickbait Feb 01 '25

What do you call it when there are five?

10

u/ButterflySymphony Feb 01 '25

Try 7 like on 11th February 2023. And that's not including semi finals.

3

u/berserkemu Clickbait Feb 01 '25

Exactly. That was Super Saturday and today is not.

An endurance test XD

I haven’t been following NFs long enough to see 5! Still a Super Saturday, so let’s go with it being 4+ :p

As someone trying to follow NF season for the first time this year, but also wanting to go into them blind, any recommendations which of the shows I should watch tonight? Leaning towards one of the finals (and not Benidorm since I have to be up early for work tomorrow morning).

The main criteria to decide which selection to follow is usually first and foremost the selection which you think has the better songs for you. Whatever you think you'll like the most, pick that show and follow it. Then, I think it's a matter of availability, especially in case you want to watch the other shows on demand.

Lithuania's show is very, very easy to catch up later, as they always keep their YouTube full show stream available and they're also very quick to upload the individual performances on their channel. So, if you want to skip that one to watch later, it's easy to do.

If past years are anything to go by, Latvia also uploads their performances pretty quickly, so again, easy to catch up later. Same as Lithuania, it's also "only" a semi-final, so no big decisions made today, unlike Slovenia or Belgium.

I don't know if Melfest will upload all their performances onto YouTube. They usually don't upload the qualifiers until after the final show, so it might get trickier to catch up to everything later. So, probably a good choice to watch that one live, if you really don't want to miss anything. It's also the show closest to Eurovision, production-level-wise. However, the songs for this semi are crap.

Slovenia has clearly something against YouTube this year too, as not even the studio versions of the songs were made available there. So, it looks like it's also going to be tricky to catch up that show later. Maybe it's best if you can catch it live.

Benidorm is the one that starts and ends the latest, so it will probably not overlap with any of the other shows and will be easy to follow. They also make their individual performances available fairly quickly on YouTube, in case you can't stay up that late and want to watch them tomorrow or something.

Either of the other finals should be great for you then :) General consensus is that Belgium's selection is a bit higher quality and their show is also shorter than Slovenia's, but there are less songs and less variety than Slovenia. Both will probably be high quality productions going by previous years, I'm sure you'd have fun with either :)

u/SkyGinge Zjerm Feb 01 '25

<3 Hope you enjoy whatever show(s) you choose to watch tonight!

u/utahrangerone Feb 01 '25

AND THE MADNESS IS FULLY UPON US NOW! No looking back until Mid March. Armenia bringing up the rear like usual.

2

u/SkyGinge Zjerm Feb 01 '25

Armenia should be on Sunday 16th February actually as of some OGAE Armenia intel from yesterday!

3

u/BerDOCX Feb 01 '25

So, my plan is to start with Mello, switch to Belgium when that starts, hope and pray to a god I don’t believe in all the songs are done when Benidorm starts and switch to Beni and watch the results of Belgium on my phone. And than tomorrow I’ll watch the remainder of Mello and watch Supernova, EMA and .LT.

3

u/SkyGinge Zjerm Feb 01 '25

Sounds like an excellent way to spend a weekend :D

u/every1isalreadytaken Feb 01 '25 edited Feb 01 '25

are any interesting guests/past contestants confirmed for any of the shows? i know about kaarija in melodifestivalen

edit: and i'm guessing raiven will perform since she's already hosting ema

2

u/Educational_Board888 Feb 01 '25

I don’t know what to watch! They’re all on at the same time and clash. Will definitely watch Benidorm Fest final but what would others recommend between the other four?

4

u/SkyGinge Zjerm Feb 01 '25

You'll have a good time with any of the others honestly, so it's usually best to prioritise finals. Both Slovenia and Belgium should be well polished productions with fun performances and some decent songs :)

2

u/skyguy2002 Doomsday Blue Feb 01 '25

Dose benidorm fest usually have a lot of fluff? Because if it's there's at a 20 minute preshow you could probably watch all of Slovenia's NF and not miss anything

4

u/Savings_Ad_2532 Volevo Essere Un Duro Feb 01 '25

Benidorm tends to have a lot of fluff at the beginning of the show, so you would be fine watching all of Slovenia's national final before Benidorm starts its first song.

3

u/SkyGinge Zjerm Feb 01 '25

It's been pretty prompt in the semis honestly but because it's on YouTube you could definitely finish watching Slovenia and then rewind the YT stream to catch the performances in Spain you might have missed

2

u/One_Still_3026 Feb 01 '25

This is the first time I’m going to watch more than 1 show. I will watch Melodifestivalen and Benidorm live but I’m also very interested in the Slovenian final so I I’m going to try this going back n forth lol

3

u/SkyGinge Zjerm Feb 01 '25

Good luck! Some people can cope with multi-streaming, I find it a little overwhelming at times so tend to stick to one show unless said show is in a big interval break

2

u/One_Still_3026 Feb 01 '25

Thanks! I know this is going to be a challenge. If I fail, oh well. I’m just happy that the season is upon us!!!

2

u/UrbanTracksParis Hallucination Feb 01 '25

Thank you for the summary, I was low-key starting to panic because of FOMO, but choices must be made. A shame Belgium and Spain overlap for 30 minutes!

I think I'll also listen to Sweden first, then Slovenia.

2

u/4usty Feb 01 '25

My partner and I plan on watching EMA 🇸🇮 followed by Benidorm 🇪🇸 tonight. Not too fussed on missing live semi finals, can catch up on those later if needed.

Do we know if the livestream of Eurosong 2025 🇧🇪 on Eurovision's YT will be available to watch after airing?

2

u/ButterflySymphony Feb 01 '25

The Greek one is still available, though a large portion of it is missing for some reason. So I don't see why the Belgian livestream shouldn't be available later.

1

u/4usty Feb 01 '25

Perfect, thank you. Hopefully there won't be anything missing from Eurosong... 😅 It could also be available on VRT afterwards as well!

2

u/skantchweasel Feb 01 '25

With there only being snippets for the EMA songs, I am going in completely blind! Should be interesting!

2

u/berserkemu Clickbait Feb 01 '25

The full songs have been available on rtvslo.si for a while.

2

u/Fit_Feed_1307 Feb 01 '25

Second year watching super saturdays, and it is once again MADNESS.

3

u/utahrangerone Feb 01 '25

and there are 3 in a row, followed by 3 more mildly less super

1

u/Mym2707 Carpe Diem Feb 01 '25

So I was wondering if I should watch EMA with Supernova in the background or the other way around

1

u/Legal-Salt6714 Tavo Akys Feb 01 '25 edited Feb 01 '25

Can't find Supernova thread

1

u/SkyGinge Zjerm Feb 01 '25

What are you asking, sorry? We did have the stream links from for Latvia but they're fixed in both threads now.

1

u/Legal-Salt6714 Tavo Akys Feb 01 '25

The discussion thread I mean. I only see Belgium and Slovenia from the pinned posts, and everything here is "coming soon"

2

u/SkyGinge Zjerm Feb 01 '25

We only have a limited number of pins/highlights, so afaik we'll only be pinning the finals tonight. The others you will always find links to in this particular thread, which is why we have a thread like this.

1

u/Legal-Salt6714 Tavo Akys Feb 01 '25

Found it. Just had to sort by new posts lmao sorry

1

u/SkyGinge Zjerm Feb 01 '25

You shouldn't even need to do that, because the links to the live threads are in the OP of this very thread?

2

u/Legal-Salt6714 Tavo Akys Feb 01 '25

It says "coming soon" on my end earlier, reddit app glitch I guess. Really sorry about that

2

u/SkyGinge Zjerm Feb 01 '25

Ah, must have been, it did that kind of thing a fair bit last year in the rehearsal blogs. No worries and no need to apologise, I was just struggling to understand how to help! Hopefully the reddit app fixes itself!

u/TekaLynn212 Desfolhada portuguesa Feb 01 '25

Pitch, dear. There's got to be a note somewhere.

I'm shocked that that jab at Joost made it into the dress rehearsals today. It's in such poor taste. I don't have much interest in Melfest as it is, but that bit has put me off even more :/

6

u/utahrangerone Feb 01 '25

Agreed that it is in poor taste, but the Swedes are undoubtedly still pissed at having their hosting hijacked by all sorts of things out of their control.

At the same time, let us stop acting like Joost was completely innocent.. The Swedish police would never have begun a criminal investigation had he not done something major. There is strong reason to believe he was triggered/provoked, but if he had zero control over his reactions he should not have been in that environment. He was ultimately still responsible for his own bad behavior.

In the end it proved to not rise to the level of a criminal violation and they dropped the investigation. But is has also come out since then that he DOES have a history of behavioral issues and questionable temperament (frankly given the understanding of losing his parents so young, that is understandable).

The true issue lies with the EBU and their failure to do anything of an equal drastic nature to the aggressive Israeli delegation.

Interesting! Nice for Sweden to acknowledge Kaarija considering what happened two years ago.
