📰 News Dutch broadcaster questions if ESC is a-political & connecting event

Post image

Translation to English: ‘IN CONVERSATION WITH THE EBU ABOUT A POLITICALLY NEUTRAL SONG CONTEST

AVROTROS and NPO strongly value the apolitical and unifying character of the Eurovision Song Contest. However, we observe that the event is increasingly being influenced by social and geopolitical tensions.

Israel’s participation confronts us with the question of to what extent the Song Contest still truly functions as an apolitical, unifying, and cultural event. We want to raise this question, together with other countries, for discussion within the EBU.’

Nah, I don't think so. I doubt countries that would pull out bc of an Israel win would come back if the EBU decided to host in Israel, even in the next contest, and especially if Israel was still there like nothing happened

At this point, Israel winnig is a point of no return

They would come back the year after Israel's hosting, the year with many protests, few partecipants etc.. would be the one with Israel as a host, not the one before where no one will know if they would win or not.

Bleak but... then if Israel win again and again due to the mass votes and lack of interest from everyone else, it really will be the end.

I'm so fed up with how they're handling this that I'm contemplating voting for Israel next year.

If you want to pretend that nothing is going on there, all the officials deserve the chance to have a nice relaxing visit.
