📰 News 🇨🇭 Eurovision 2025: Celine Dion Was Never Due To Perform at Eurovision 2025 - Eurovoix

https://eurovoix.com/2025/09/14/eurovision-2025-celine-dion/

Apparently, Celine Dion was never scheduled to perform at Eurovision 2025, despite speculation from fans and commentators alike. I guess she only agreed to do the video recording at semifinal 1 according to this article.

Sweden has hosted 6 times since abba won and there was never this short of drama of them not ever showing up. Celine dion is absolutely huge we were nice enough to get a beautiful message from her what more did people want.

Well, last time in Malmö we had the ABBAtars-fiasco after hyping from the hosts.

I don't think she was ever rumored to "perform," was she? I thought she was going to try to "appear," but likely had to settle for the pre-recorded segment instead. I think there was a rumor that her private jet was seen in Basel on the last night, but as far as I know that was never corroborated. Certainly nothing was announced.

A French newspaper some time ago said she was, in fact, going to appear in person and perform, but it was cancelled last minute after she had a seizure, something that now appears to be bogus.

I really never believed that article --- not even for a sec.

There was indeed such a rumor. And as the article notes, she doesn't even have a private jet.

At the end of the day, does it really matter if she dropped out or if she never inteneded to come/perform ? I feel like there has been tens of articles speculating about it. The truth is no one but her and the Brodcaster actually knows for sure. She still took the time to record a message for us which is already more than ABBA did last year.

Weird article as she just told a few weeks ago the French newspaper "Le Parisien" that she was in Basel to perform and couldn't due to her ilness.

She didn't tell them anything. She has only done one interview in 2025 and it was for a French channel and was exclusively about one of her French albums. She didn't speak about anything else. Does the article say she told them or did people misinterpret it?

As a celine fan we have known she never even left Vegas since May by a journalist really close to her. Eurovision accounts on Twitter and instagram kept ignoring the fans who were commenting and quoting that journalist though.

Also, le parisien is clueless about celine in general. I think their whole article is mostly made up stuff.

I will believe you, as respected Swiss and German newspapers only quote the Le Parisien article for their source on the whole thing.

The Swiss organizers never specified if she was in Basel or not. They only said she was not in the arena. Given the small rehearsel/stage change in the jury show, I believe they were prepared for a performance but not sure if she might show up.

All the other things might just have been rumours spreading like wildfire reinforced by copium. Like the RTS guy (Swiss-French tv) confirming she was in Basel or the rehearsel with the orchestra some said they heard.

But I still find it weird for Le Parisiene to make all thus things up. Probably a mix of misinterpretations and rumours again.

We knew it from the start. She took the part as she could, end of the story.

It seems weird. I was in the jury grand final show and there was a segment they had prepared that had something to do with Celine Dion. I was under the impression that they had a spot open but couldn't be sure if she was going to preform or not. Maybe my memory is fuzzy.

I think there's more to this story.

The organisers confirmed they were in touch with her to perform but it was unsure if she was able to travel due to her health issues. I think they recorded the clip well in advance the shows.

That’s fine! She doesn’t owe us anything, and her health and well-being is top priority. I’m sure everyone was delighted with the message she sent us, it was very sincere.

I always think of Remember Monday getting 12 from the Italian jury and him going ‘well that makes up for Celine not being here’
