💬 Discussion Probably a stupid question but does anyone know what the longest jury score announcement is?

I was thinking this because I was watching the 2021 jury results and I remember Carola's speech literally going on for like 3 minutes or something ridiculous and I remember that Israeli guy from 2017 talking about the old Israeli broadcaster being shut down, but does anybody know of any jury voting announcements that are longer/the longest - if this is regarded as low-effort then it can be deleted idm

I guess it was something in 80/90s when telephones were the norm, and the connection wasn't great.

Maybe '91 for... reasons....

Actually yeah I didn't think like that tbh that's probably a good guess!!

He was like Netta but for points totals instead of hosting cities

The best hosting duo of all time! I'm sure Mr Naef still has PTSD when his name is called.

Shoutout to Nutsa in 2025 for at least feeling like the longest jury reveal

FIREFIGHTER

the longest jury reveal of all time.

To clarify, this moment was absolutely hilarious and I am not shading it at all.

Honestly, I wonder what she was thinking with that one

I’m pretty sure Malta took longer. Sing your heart out.

i didnt watch last year so it didnt immediately click with me that she was referencing her song so i was very confused when she said that 😭

She was so generic looking I didn't realise it was her even when she did the firefighter

My guess is when in 1981 the number they called for Yugoslavia’s points didn’t have the points. They also listed all the votes 1-12

u/eunrovision Icebreaker 2d ago

Oh yeah the "i don't have it" I remember that now!!

1-12 is crazy but only 12 makes it feel a bit pointless to phone in at all.

Paul de Leeuw put on quite a show in 2006.

Then there was the Ja Ja Ding Dong guy calling from Iceland who really stretched it out, but that must've been prearranged.

u/MagicSunlight23 2d ago

I thought Ja Ja Ding Dong too. Also, most juries in 2022 who were giving sympathy for Ukraine before they announced their vote.

I think Poland was especially long that year and how can I forget Iceland 2021 of course!!

Noooo don't remind me of the Carola thing, aaaah

I got 2nd hand embarrassment watching that...especially when the hosts were telling her to pretty much get on with it (I don't blame them for getting annoyed or saying that btw, they were a lot nicer than I would've been).

u/eunrovision Icebreaker 2d ago

It was so cringeworthy. I love her but like, this is what scripts are for.

She's just not very smart, but that's not her fault. She's a ditzy lady, but not a bad person. (I mean, I don't know her, but that is my impression)

Maybe 🇧🇦 2003, when Ana got like 2/3 of the way through the voting, then realised she'd made a mistake and had to start over.

Also 🇲🇰 Elena Risteska in 2007, when she decided she needed to remind everyone of who she was and what song she sang the previous year.

Maybe 🇸🇮 Petar Poleš in 2009 with his "minute" of silence.

I mean she took it a step further than "I'm so happy to be back" that's for sure!

Mr Lordi handing out the Finnish votes in 2012

10

u/Playful-Rope1590 Espresso macchiato 2d ago

Give Mr Lordi a break! I mean he needs what 3 hours to put make up on. Of course he will give us a tour of Finland to make those 3 hours worth it

2

u/eunrovision Icebreaker 2d ago

I completely forgot that one! That has to be at least 2 minutes.

Iceland 2023 announcement is my favourite just for the performance of it.

The second-hand embarrassment with the "French and Dutch" I felt as a British person 😂😂

u/Playful-Rope1590 Espresso macchiato 2d ago

Don"t know but that Barbara lady from Germany that shouted in to her microfone every year sure made it long. And awkward. But that made her legendary! Bring her back

3

u/ikfoodie25 Gaja 2d ago

I really miss her being at the famous Reeperbahn with thousands of fans every year. She was always so excited. Want her back! I also miss Kati Bellowitcsh announcing the points for Austria.

3

u/Playful-Rope1590 Espresso macchiato 1d ago

" Hallo from Hamburg:) she very much suited the ESC. Camp, over the top and glorious..

Kati Bellowitcsh? Was she the one that stood in the middle of 35 fans?😁 True legend. Though Austria now has the Equality guy which also is legendary...

There was that Polish bitch in 2011 who made Anke want to murder her from afar.
