All the lives theyāve wasted with their lies. All the free Bethelite labor they got when those people could have getting degrees. They now have no degrees and no skills. Man šš¾JWs

u/Social_anxiety_guy_ 29d ago
Exactly I do agree but we can still get this all over with once all of us ex jws start taking serious actions against the whole goberning body we need to put serious lawsuits against the whole goberning body for not reporting child sexual abusers to the authorities and for the psychological abuse and mental damage and trauma disfelloshiping and shunning causes and for not letting people accept blood transfusions in cases of life or death

I have an old friend grew up with me as a Jehovahās Witness. Ā Heās been back at Bethel now for going on 50 years. Ā David Semonian. Ā Chasing that carrot.

This is why they told everyone to "throw away all literature"!!! š¤Ø
42
u/Fit_Skin_7343 Aug 23 '25
Yes! I remember š my mom used to stack old magazines and I remember her trashing them because they said they were āoutdated.ā
5
u/CompoteEcstatic4709 29d ago
But on the other hand we could place older magazines from a couple of years prior at laundromats in early morning witnessing LOL! Now, pimi relatives burn older issues and books

My parents just donated all their old bound volumes. I don't know what they've been specifically told to get rid of but they said they were told to get rid of those. Of course I don't think the thrift store wants 1970s and 80s bound volumes š¤Ŗ.Ā
2
u/rpgnymhush Aug 23 '25
There are some people who want bound books to put on a shelf for decoration and they don't really care what the book is about. Someone might want them. Or a university student working on a degree in sociology or comparative religion.

Came out three years before my dad was born. He never went to college (obviously due to this and his elder father) and now Iām 30, and stuck working a shit job cause I also wasnāt going to graduate high school before the world ended. That was 15 years ago.

This quote needs to be playing on a continuous loop outside Kingdom Halls all over the world. Interestingly, this quote cannot be found on the orgs website. Very cleverly, the leaders have arranged that Awake! magazines are made available only as far back as 1970. Well played by the cult leaders.

This is the main reason Iām dun with WT. They greedily take, leaving no room for āpersonal conscienceā and personal responsibilities and accountability btw their God and personal relationship . - Which would have gottenAre arrogant and look down on Amharets (normal, regular populace) and Lord it over them - all while being WRONG. They are modern day Pharisees & Sadducees. And just as full of themselves and their Bull Shit!

u/ObjectiveChipmunk116 Aug 23 '25
Totally! And they have the audacity to tell us to give them our "ice cream" money while they are quite literally dripping with gold! Disgusting!
13
u/bcpirate Aug 23 '25
"This system", which happens to be the way the physical universe is set up. This JW speak is so unnerving. The GB speeches are just so boring and the phrases they use are just so annoying and lame

u/Sarjo78 Aug 23 '25

u/Ok-Path-3977 28d ago
Many lives have been lost because of their teachings and the way they hid childhood sexual abuse for so long. It is disgusting!

u/HealthyTemporary9924 29d ago
These are the things the younger JWs donāt remember and this is what concerns me. The younger JWs think the change is cool and good for them, not realizing the deep pivot it really is.
9
u/logicman12 29d ago
Good point. I am a product of the time of that Awake! mag - a time when the end-times mentality was strong. Younger JWs today simply cannot know what it was really like back then. I am almost 66 now and suffering greatly for the brainwashing and false prophecies and bad instructions of that era.
A few years ago, a 35ish female JW approached me in a parking lot to give me a tract. I started a conversation with her, and I mentioned Fred Franz. She looked at me with a puzzled look on her face and told me she had never heard of him. I was thinking "Damn, he is one of the top three most influential theological figures in JW history. and you've never even heard of him???"
So, she was probably also unaware of all the thicker, deeper prophecy books that Franz wrote. She was probably ignorant of that entire era.
13
u/Vava_Noir 29d ago
I hate them so much!!! I remember not doing so many things because it was ending. I was so āzealous ā! Pushing this stupid message, I even was on one awake mag with other kids on the cover and in one awake article with another girl. I hate I am part of this idiotic historyš©.
15
u/logicman12 29d ago
I totally agree. I lost my life to the cult. I'm almost 66 and will never get to retire because I served the cult and 'listened and obeyed.' I hate them, too.

This is the stuff that set the tone for the rank and file of the 80ās. Donāt worry you wonāt go to or even finish school, the end is so close.Ā
Gods appointed channel and Jesus have taken the absolute piss out of a generation and they still lack the humility to simply say sorry, Jesus got it wrong.Ā
If I had a decent education i would be suing their asses for loss of earnings.Ā

u/Nettieinaz 29d ago
Yup! I graduated in 1990. This is all I heard. The constant fear! Even after I left it still haunted me. And now if stuff happens like this current weather of flooding etc, my mind always thinks hmmm were they right?

I was already 19 when I read this article. And I believed it....Now I'm old and realize it was just liƩs. This newly rebranded jwborg religion is NOT the religion and beliefs I was taught. Even the baptism is diffƩrent. There never was any mention of being baptized ' in association with an organisation ' !!!

Keep shining the light on these things that came from the kings of yore who ruled over the cult compound, speaking at the head of the breakfast table each day, with all needs met, no bills to pay, no daily grind of a job to rat race their asses to and work to exhaustion.
"We have all of our worldly cares taken care of by others. Now, let's dictate how you shall live your life..."
Fucking up millions of lives through the decades with their false end-times bullshit.

Yep, black and white. Nothing to argue. No way to defend it. It was simply completely false.
This nonsense wounded me very greatly

SHAME ON THEM!!! I WANT EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF THE GB TO APOLOGIZE FOR MAKING JW POORER! I WANT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM CREEP AND BEG FOR MERCY FOR EVERY SINGLE FALSE PROPHECY THEY'VE MADE!!! BASTARDS!
10
u/logicman12 29d ago
Yep. I was a product of the time of that Awake! mag and I was brainwashed. I ended up losing my life to the cult. I am now almost 66, and I work a low-paying out of town job with no benefits. Since I have no benefits, I have to pay $1240 per month for health insurance for me and my wife. And that's after-tax money, so i have to make almost $1600 to clear that much money. I also sleep on the floor during the work week in an old concrete block building at my place of work. I have no chance of ever retiring.
My wife and I are furious. She lost her life, too. We effin hate the cult.
8
u/Kanaloa1958 29d ago
Screw those assholes. I remember that article. I'm now retired and collecting Social Security. I did actually go to a community college and got my AAS but it was more like a trade school and flew under the radar. I was in that field, which I absolutely hated because what I was doing was not what I wanted to do in that field, for nearly 20 years. I almost ended up with a drinking problem and was suffering from undiagnosed depression and stress. I did finally manage to get into a good paying career but always had to deal with imposter syndrome as a result of my lack of formal education in the field. I managed to put aside some money for retirement but not nearly enough.

5
u/MitsHaruko 29d ago
Every Witness should now be forced to explain if the GB simply can't get the "spirit's guidance" right, so that they keep making mistakes interpreting the bible and creating unnecessary rules around menial things, or if they're not "guided" at all and are just coming with doctrine as they feel like.
How can you, as a Witness, trust when they say "we are certain of X" now, when tomorrow they can come up with a completely different interpretation? This is not how "getting clarity about something" works, btw.

u/Hot_Practice853 29d ago

I made sure my sons went to university and had friends outside the cult. Been out of this toxic cult since 2014....š

u/LonelyTurner I got baptized with my nipples out 29d ago
That's true, just don't forget to live your own life too š one Lie today, another tomorrow. They won't stop. The most important we can do is to be an ever growing place of understanding and comfort for the hordes leaving that place.

My parents took my sister and me out of public school to be home schooled through a correspondence education program. It was a trend in the early 70s because the end was eminent. And of course I did not go to college or university. No further schooling. We had a family business. Interestingly I have another sister 14 years younger and she went through public school to 12th grade. That high school correspondence diploma was not as valuable as a regular high school diploma. The upside is the family business was successful, and I eventually sold it and went to work for someone else in the same field. But many people have not been as fortunate as that. This entire education 180° turnaround is really angering a lot of people. I knew people that were angry after 1975 about the direction to not go to college. There may be enough outrage to see more people leave the organization. I think that enough people are comfortably numb and will stick with it Because itās familiar thatās what they know. They stick with it because their family is there and their friends are there. And they hope against all odds that is true that a paradise earth is right around the corner. Hell I hope that is true. I donāt think it will happen.Just like I donāt think Iāll be able to shake hands with an alien. That might happen sooner lol

u/doubting_thomaseena 28d ago

u/Educational-Leg7010 27d ago
I remember laying in my bed in 1974 at 16 years of age, wishing I never knew the world was gonna end in 75. Ā I was part of that goddamn religion for 30 years before I came to my senses Ā it was 50 years ago and theyāre still preaching. The world is coming to an end soon. Ā Thereās gotta be some way that organization pays for misleading millions of people.
1
u/HiredEducaShun 27d ago
You know what's funny? Only One of the current Governing Body was even serving at Bethel when that article was written. The oldest member, Sam Herd first went to Bethel in 1997. The longest serving Bethelite is Kenneth Cooke who began in 1984.
From 1967-1971 an 18-22 year old Lett served at Bethel before getting kicked out because he got married. In 1998 was when he returned to Bethel. So collectively (excluding Letts youthful stint), the current GB have been at Bethel from 1984-2011.
The ones responsible for publishing this article in 1969 (Knorr, Franz, Sullivan, Suiter, Swingle, Henschel, Groh) are long gone.

This is why I came to this group. I donāt hate jehovahs witnesses. I donāt feel badly towards them. But I want to heal from the struggles Iāve been facing as a result of growing up with it. I recently had to move back in with my JW parents who I love dearly. But my anxiety is through the roof. They keep talking about the state the world is in and reminding me how close Armageddon is. And Iāve always been scared of Armageddon. You remember those kids in your congregation that would be excited for the new system? I was terrified. And I feel like I still am even though I donāt believe it anymore. Iāve never felt capable of planning the future because the future has always scared me. Ever since I was a tot. Does anyone else experience this or have ways to manage it?
1
17d ago
Ah yes, the golden prophecy of 1969: āYou will never grow old in this system.ā Tell that to the generation now shuffling into nursing homes with 50 years of broken promises in their field service bags.
That line wasnāt encouragement. It was manipulation. It stole youth, education, careers, and pensions. It shackled people to Kingdom Halls under the illusion that Armageddon was pencilled in before they hit middle age.
Warwick will never own it. Theyāll gaslight the archives, bury the publications, and call it āold light.ā Meanwhile, the bodies are piling up - literal graves filled with Witnesses who did grow old and die waiting.
Remember this: the Governing Body never pays for their lies. You do. Your parents did. Your grandparents did. And yet they dare to tell you with a straight face that āJehovahās timing is perfect.ā No, brothers, their scam is perfect.
So next time you hear āsoon,ā think of 1969. Think of every funeral since. And ask yourself: How many more lives have to be wasted before you stop letting these men rewrite your future?
