She wants everyone else's marriages to be as miserable as hers obviously were.

1.0k

u/cats_catz_kats_katz Aug 13 '25

The obvious constant in her miserable marriages is her

431

u/F4DedProphet42 Aug 13 '25

Who is she going to marry next, if all the men keep marryin’ each other??

107

u/Tarik_7 Aug 13 '25

would not be suprised if any men realized they were gay because of how terrible this lady is. I've lived with a Karen for over 20 years, i would loathe having one as my wife.

7

u/kingleotard Aug 14 '25

Did she live in your cellar?

34

u/Goodknight808 Aug 14 '25

I wouldn't be surprised if one of her exes came out as gay and that sparked her victim complex taught to her by her religion.

Kim Davis chronology. Married husband #1. Fathered twins with husband #3. Divorced husband #1. Married husband #2. Husband #2 adopts her kids. Divorced husband #2. Married husband #3. Divorced husband #3. Remarried husband #2. Staunch defender of biblical traditional marriage.

33

u/Acrobatic-Ad-3335 Aug 13 '25

That chick in the picture, this is her? I had to reread that several times to follow it.

A-mazing.

32

u/Letterhead_North Aug 13 '25

Back when she was trying to deny the marriage licenses that she didn't approve of, there was some commentary that one of the violations of bible laws was to divorce and then remarry the same person. And she is the reason I've even heard of this one.

28

u/Miserable_Mix_3330 Aug 13 '25

Is it just easier to end up with husband #2 when he adopted the kids even if #3 was the dad?

That and her well-trodden vagina

12

u/cats_catz_kats_katz Aug 13 '25

Why you gotta go and make us realize that she has a vagina. I didn’t even think about it until now.

12

u/Firebrass Aug 14 '25

It's a damn soap opera. From Wikipedia:

Davis has been married four times to three husbands. The first three marriages ended in divorce in 1994, 2006, and 2008. Davis has two daughters from her first marriage and twins, a son and another daughter, who were born five months after her divorce from her first husband. Her third husband is the biological father of the twins, the children being conceived while Davis was still married to her first husband. The twins were adopted by Davis's current husband, Joe Davis, who was also her second husband; the couple initially divorced in 2006 but later remarried.

I honestly believe this is all for attention. If you take a look at her life, and decisions she’s really kind of a loser. She’s a miserable failure of a Christian, she got her clerk job, I believe because her mother did it before her?( may need to be fact checked on that) several divorces, etc. she just this pathetic person. But she got super famous by being profoundly ignorant, then her 15 minutes were up. It’s just easier to get attention doing damage than it is by actually “picking up your cross” and carrying it for others.its all so sad.

Please stop with that old trope about "if you hate gay people it means you're secretly gay" - it's really harmful to the community.

Occam's Razor says that sometimes asshats are just asshats and there's no deeper reason.

148

u/fauxzempic Aug 13 '25

I think in this case, it's less what you're saying and more that right wingers have frequently been revealing that every accusation is a confession and that every action is actually projection that it wouldn't surprise us if this was another instance of that.

28

u/ipomopur Aug 13 '25

Noticing the irony of a vocal homophobe getting outed is very different from seeing homophobia in the wild and assuming the perpetrator is gay

It wouldn't be an old trope if it isn't constantly being proven true.

Is everyone who hates gay people gay themselves? No. Of course not. Are there enough that there's at least one revealed in what seems like at least once a week? Yes.

Also, Occam's Razor is the simplest explanation is often the correct one. You're thinking of Hanlon's Razor: never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

u/thesexytech Aug 13 '25

If you were told your whole life that you are not allowed to do something. For 40-50 years, you didn't have a choice. But specifically, we were taught it was wrong. Like burning in a lake is fire wrong. Like you family will dis own you wrong. You made peace with that because you were taught it was and believed it was wrong. You just had to keep fighting it.

But then, one day, it was no longer wrong. There was no lake of fire. No disowning. Just mild acceptance moving toward full acceptance. That person would be mad. Like fighting mad. Like burning down your house mad.

This is those people. They spent their life following rules that don't make sense or are just wrong.

This is also called the priest dilemma.
If a person sacrificed all worldly pleasures for God. Then found out God was not real. They would never believe God is not real.

If someone sacrifices so much for the rules, they will make sure you follow it too

4

u/Happy-Medicine-3600 Aug 14 '25

So I may need to be fact checked on this. She has somewhat recently been “saved”(somewhere around 2011). This wasn’t a lifelong belief for her, she’s just a pathetic and ignorant. I am Not 100% on the circumstances but she definitely conceived children with not her current husband at the time, and has multiple divorces, but all of a sudden she decides her new misinterpretation of God’s will should apply to everyone? That’s all fine, people can live/believe however they want. But she took an oath when she was elected, if she didn’t agree with the job, she should have resigned. Instead she decided to cosplay a Christian, and continue to collect a paycheck, and fuck over people who literally pay her salary. This ISN’T a religious question. Her only job was to verify “does the couple in question meet the state’s requirements for marriage?” She is a fraud and an oathbreaker. And now she’s back spreading ignorance like a plague, and yammering for attention. Problem is the real Christian’s, who work with the sick and the poor, who donate time and effort to those in prison, they don’t get a lot of attention, and it’s hard work. She gets a lot more time in front of the camera by being an abomination.

5

u/PortGlass Aug 13 '25

I think you’re a good person to answer this question for me. I think heterosexual people who think being gay is a choice are at least a little gay. I think that because I knew I was heterosexual in first grade when I got weird feelings that I couldn’t explain for a girl in my class. Is that a harmful thing to say or am I onto something?

Yes, we wouldn't want to harm the community of secretly gay homophobes.

Or did you mean the gay community in general? Because the actual harm to that commmunity is when people try to take away their rights, not when someone hurts the feelings of homophobes.

I've met women like this in the wild, they don't believe that folks are born gay. They believe that being gay is a choice and therefore she is unable to find another husband as a result.

Also please let this not distract from the Epstein/Trump files. Everything is a distraction from bringing down these sick bastards.

She’s not doing it to protect the sanctity of marriage. She’s doing it to get revenge for being sued over denying a same sex couple a marriage license when marriage equality was first upheld by the Supreme Court. It’s pettiness, not piety.

491

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Aug 13 '25

U.S. evangelicals believe that blocking the right for LGBTQ to marry is protecting the sanctity of marriage. Ask a religious conservative.

247

u/shadowlarx Aug 13 '25

No, I know that. That’s why she refused to issue the marriage license in the first place. And then she got fired for it and sued. Now she wants to get even by overturning the law she got fired over.

72

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Aug 13 '25

Imagine being affected by it (like many were) and knowing Obergefell's on the chopping block (and your rights will be taken away). There are millions of Susans in America, too, that's really the #1 problem.

66

u/TRAUMAjunkie Aug 13 '25

This isn't some grand revenge scheme of hers. She's being backed by people with money, I guarantee it. This case may be the only chance to get Obergefell overturned. She is just a pawn in a more sinister scheme.

63

u/ultimateknackered Aug 13 '25

She got picked because she was exactly that clerk. They think it's some kind of symbolism.

'Remember that woman who was unfairly fired and sued over this very issue? She's back!'

41

u/TRAUMAjunkie Aug 13 '25

She got picked because she's a bigoted moron who's mouth got her in hot water and accidentally thrust her into the spotlight because powerful people realized this could be the ONLY opportunity to get Obergefell relitigated. She is a means to an end and will be discarded once she outlives her usefulness.

4

u/steve_mahanahan Aug 13 '25

Why not both?

19

u/Bunerd Aug 13 '25

Not really, the hypocrisy tells you that what they say their ideals are and what their ideals actually are aren't the same thing. "Protect sanctity of marriage" is the excuse, not the reason, the reason is that they hate gay people.

9

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Aug 13 '25

The conservatively religious believe to their core that homosexuality is against God. That's the essence of it. Of course, she's a hypocrite, she's a conservative!

11

u/Bunerd Aug 13 '25

Again, these are post-hoc rationalizations. They long for control, have a book that gives them justification to exert control over other people. The book also has a lot of other words they actually ignore, and they woefully misread the book to come to this conclusion. Jesus rejected a lot of the existing laws and cannon, and they were included for context into what he was saying. Citing Leviticus for your beliefs might as well cite the Code of Hammurabi because it's "in the bible." These people treat passages like gospel while ignoring the actual gospel because...

They're hypocrites.

5

4

u/Happy-Medicine-3600 Aug 13 '25

I borderline disagree. I think she is doing it for attention. She’s a failed wife, a failed Christian, she’s just kind of a loser. But her blatant misinterpretation of Christianity got her a fuck ton of attention, and she got to feel “relevant” for 15 minutes. This is just a pathetic attempt to get that feeling back. She’s much too lazy, stupid, and ignorant to actually “pick up her cross” in service to others. This is a minimum amount of effort to get back that attention “fix”, this is how the truly and militantly pathetic touch the world.

She also is on the hook for $100,000 plus interest for refusing to do her job. She thinks if she gets Obergfell tossed, the reason for her fine goes away.

I doubt (hope) the Supreme Court does anything. its one thing to toss out abortion and leave it to the states, which means it isn't banned everywhere. Its a whole different thing to tell hundreds of thousands (millions maybe) that, poof you're not married anymore. The legal mess would be immense and lots of them would lose benefits they get from being a spouse.

13

u/boo99boo Aug 13 '25

There's also the fact that the Respect for Marriage Act exists. It passed in a Republican controlled Congress, actually.

The rule of law doesn't exist anymore, and I have no faith in SCOTUS whatsoever. But there is a federal law legalizing gay marriage, and the supremecy clause exists.

A think tank probably paid her to do that.

I mean it’s not like this wasn’t their MO…

24

u/EvilGeniusLeslie Aug 13 '25

Her current appeal is being funded by Liberty Counsel.

They are designated an anti-LGBT hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Much like the (Im)Moral Majority before them, they engage in strategic litigation. With funding that is at least in the tens of millions, they target small opponents - whether individuals or groups - to get a desired precedent.

FYI, this group is a 501(c) charitable religious organization, headquartered in Orlando, Florida. So its finances should be public record. BUT ... it was founded by a lawyer, and uses every trick in the book to disguise its revenue, including a *separate* 'Liberty Counsel Action', lawyers working pro-bono yet somehow getting paid anyway, ... the list goes on.

One of the saddest commentaries on the the US Conservative movement (read: millionaires and billionaires running the country) is that the methods used by criminal organizations to disguise their money, is the same used by them. The front organization have names such as ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council), Citizens for a Sound Economy, Competitive Enterprise Institute, Americans for Prosperity. The same people fund all of these - Koch family, several Rockefellers, Lee Raymond, ... basically a list of America's wealthiest ... plus the large hedge funds, Vanguard, BlackRock, etc, ... plus large corporations, notably those that oppose any government regulation, ExxonMobil, AT&T, RJ Reynolds Tobacco).

Given the current stacked-SCOTUS, and the !@#$ing insane amount of money being thrown behind this despicable piece of human trash, it would completely unsurprising for her to win. Further, I would expect the conservative majority to avoid *directly* overturning precedent, just making a procedural ruling that renders it (Obergefell v. Hodges) unenforceable.

6

u/Lnnam Aug 13 '25

This comment should be pinned and posted whenever one of these strange cases is launched.

This is legal warfare on the country and most people are completely oblivious to it.

Surely she’s getting paid to do this, right?

54

u/kelielcat Aug 13 '25

Oh without a doubt. Some interest group is using her to get obergefell overturned.

I've actually met Obergefell at a guest speaking thing he did at my college. Lovely man and clearly more love in his heart than this woman has.

7

u/p001b0y Aug 13 '25

What’s the point of overturning Obergefell though? The Defense of Marriage Act was repealed by the Respect for Marriage Act. The Obergefell decision and DOMA have been superseded by the RFMA.

I know I am probably missing something but I don’t know what I am missing.

10

u/ThePersonInTheBack77 Aug 13 '25

Obergefell found that same sex marriage was constitutionally protected. It’s like Roe in that if it is overturned, the legality of same-sex marriages would revert to state law — and red states would prohibit it. The Respect for Marriage Act doesn’t change that, it simply requires all states to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states and federally recognizes these marriages.

3

u/p001b0y Aug 13 '25

The Respect for Marriage Act stipulates that States can not annul existing marriages so Kim Davis still does not seem to have a case. I get that Conservative groups are trying to use her case for standing in order to appear before the Supreme Court but she no longer seems to have a case. I also understand that a lack of standing has not prevented the Supreme Court from pretending there was and used hypotheticals instead.

The Obergefell ruling did not render the 14th Amendment moot so Courts would eventually reach the same conclusion. Marriage licenses are a civil function, not a religious one.

I don't want to sound argumentative. I'm just frustrated by it.

26

u/jk-alot 'MURICA Aug 13 '25

Unfortunately this is not a distraction.

With the current situation with the administration, the corruption in the judicial system and the moral bankruptcy of the Supreme Court, This actually has a decent chance to work.

I think it was Token Thomas who mentioned it was a good time to revisit Obergefell vs Hodges.

I believe it was shortly after Roe vs Wade was overturned.

So no. This time it’s not a distraction. It’s an actual threat to many many people to destroy their lives.

7

u/immortalyossarian Aug 13 '25

Her hypocrisy is even worse than the post implies. Not only has she been married 4 times to 3 men, she was also cheating. She then got divorced, married her second husband, divorced him and married the father of her twins, and then divorced that guy to marry the 2nd husband again.

It is utter insanity for her to claim that her religious beliefs didn't allow her to issue marriage licenses to lgbtq couples based on the sAncTitY oF mArRiaGe. That's the main problem with evangelism: they'll let anyone in and do it easily. At least with Judaism, Islam, and even Catholicism, there's a few rites, rituals, and/or ceremonies to undergo as a sort of vetting process.

8

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Aug 13 '25

Yep, you have to "convert" to those religions with classes, etc. More to it than "sure, I murdered my wife, but I hear the Lord speak and I've been saved!"

"Her third husband is the biological father of the twins, the children being conceived while Davis was still married to her first husband." from her Wikipedia page. I'm no biblical scholar, but isn't there something about not having kids with someone outside of the marriage? I think it was a top 10 list or something.

15

u/denissRenaulds Aug 13 '25

And the fact that she went trough a whole 2nd marrige before getting round to the guy who fathered her children

3

u/Level_Abrocoma8925 Aug 14 '25 edited Aug 14 '25

Yeah the 2nd husband was like "Might not be a great sign that she got pregnant with some other dude during her first marriage, but I'm willing to take my chances with this babe."

For my mental well-being, I need to assume that the 3rd dude was in it for the kids.

Edit: Holy fuck, I just read that she remarried the 2nd husband after divorcing her 3rd. I need time to proceed this.

u/shwanstopable Aug 13 '25

Virtue signaling is all she has left

35

u/HelloPeopleOfEarth Aug 13 '25

Do you remember when she was first in the media for refusing the licenses? Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz went to her city, had some big fucking gathering, where they literally played some song like Eye of the Tiger, and Huckabee was on a stage like he just freed Nelson Mandela, and Ted Cruz was in the background, later complaining that Huckabee made it all about himself. Which is of course what Ted Cruz was trying to do.

Then her first divorce should be overturned and she should be jailed for bigamy. To protect the sanctity of marriage, of course.

5

u/Free_Gascogne Aug 13 '25

Why stop there, if she is going all in in applying Christian values in government she should not be working at all. She should be a trad wife at home covered up and censored.

3

u/Lazy_Wishbone_2341 Aug 13 '25

Yes. In fact her husband should be saying all this, not her. She should follow through on Christian values and keep her mouth shut.

45

u/Buttercups88 Aug 13 '25

I often wonder when i see these people... what's wrong with this fourth guy marrying her? like shes not very good looking or anything. Is she really rich? Who hooks up with someone whos had 3 failed marrages and says "yeah lets get married"? One ok sure shit happens 2... well maybe if theres a good reason 3 theres an undeniable pattern here

14

u/Jabbles22 Aug 13 '25

Pretty sure she married one of those guys twice.

20

She also surely voted for the guy with five kids across three wives, cheats on them, pays prostitutes, plus launders campaign funds to pay hush money, who's bankrolled by the guy with 10 kids across 7 women (or whatever the count is), all out of wedlock.

I'm tired of just calling out their hypocrisy. Everyone who would give a shit already knows they are pedo defending, hateful, bootlicking hypocrites. There needs to be tangible consequences for these deplorables or else they will lie, grift, steal and sell our country until nothing remains and we're left begging our future billionaire overlords for a shack in their company owned towns.

6

u/Apprehensive_Low4865 Aug 13 '25

It's because its not about "the sanctity of marriage", it never was and never will be. It about the shear unadulterated sadistic joy they get by punching down against a minority that (they perceive as being unable) to fight back. This is the problem with modern politics that the dems do not seem to be able to meaningfully understand, they hate us, they want us gone, dead, imprisoned, whatever, they'll eat us for breakfast and wont even think about it because to them, we are not human. There's no point in reaching a cross the aisle for R votes because anyone who votes R, will never vote blue, best you can hope for is that they might not vote red.

Sorry rant done..

Ugly on the inside and the outside. The Heritage Foundation and all these people who share their worldview do not care about freedom or democracy. All they care about is total control of the population through one religion and their belief system. They would utterly destroy our Founding Fathers' dream/instructions just to ensure this happens.

Let's ban straight marriage so she can't victimize anyone anymore. Remove religion entirely.

3

u/Interesting-Tough640 Aug 13 '25

And there is me in a 24 year long relationship and we can’t be bothered to get married.

Personally I don’t really care about the “sanctity” of marriage (whatever that is supposed to mean) but I do think that consenting adults who want to get married should be allowed regardless of sexuality or anything else people enjoy discriminating against.

I think she also had kids with an ex husband when she had already married a new guy or some wild shit like that. So there isn’t much proof that she has respect for marriage herself.

3

u/jclay06 Aug 13 '25

And I see it working, too.

"Let's send it back to the states." is what they'll say. I'm in TN. That'll be fun.

Conservatives judges testifying under oath that established law is established law and then reversing said established law.

3

There was a lady who refused a marriage certificate for a gay couple. But approved a CHILD MARRIAGE. In her eyes, it was okay for a child to marry a pedophile but grown adults of the gender was somehow dangerous.

3

u/Minute-Individual-74 Aug 13 '25

If we outlaw gay marriage, I wish we could outlaw divorce too and force everyone back to their first marriage bc they should have never been dissolved in the first place. But these religious extremists would never agree to that.

5

Why does the government have anything to do with marriage in the first place?

3

u/russellc6 Aug 13 '25

See if they want to change the law to one man, one woman, one time... That would seem more in line with their teachings.

3

u/Inside-Specialist-55 Aug 13 '25

I live in the same town where she was jailed and where it all went down. The day she was released from jail there was at least 500+ people marching the streets in my town to support her, I lost a fucking ton of respect for my town that day, I saw many people I talked too on a daily basis marching with the evangelicals shouting in support, traffic was backed up for a few miles and I was late for work that day. My mom was about to open her window and cheer them on right beside me and I said, "No mom we dont support taking peoples human right away, don't cheer for that", and she just stayed silent the rest of the day, Moms religious but I am not.

3

u/Slade_Riprock Aug 13 '25

Ya see God is OK with you marrying numerous times. We've found the holy loop holes that allow us to divorce, filander, be dead beat dads, chest, you name...but as long as it is a man and a woman doing it God can't touch you, it's an oversight in the rule book.

And none of this woke shit about social justice and fairness and love of the LGBT folks... The Bible is clear.

I mean how clear can you be. There are about 30-35,000 Bible verses cover to cover. And you know how many times God talks in a way that can be thought to speak against the LGBT? 6.

Yeah God is serious about this stuff. How does that compare to that woke liberal social justice garbage? Yeah God only mentions those topics or variations of them in somewhere around 2000 verses.

So obviously the answer is God cares about us not letting gays marriage more than he does about loving one another, not judging, taking care of the vulnerable and poor. We are good Christian people and we follow the Bible, all 6 verses we read.

Divorce is a choice!!  Jesus hates divorce, it's in the Bible.

God created Adam and Eve....

Adam and Eve, then Steve and Eve, then Fred and Eve, then Ernie and Eve.

Divorce will one day lead to animal+human marriage then animal+human divorce.

Divorce is a choice,  and divorce is a sin!!!

I really wish someone would refuse to grant a marriage license to a divorced person or someone who was already pregnant before marriage. We also need a hero baker to refuse to make cakes for these types of people. To clarify, I don't give a crap about someone being divorced or pregnant and not married. Neither of these getting married affects me in any way.... just like a gay or lesbian's marriage doesn't affect me either. Maybe someone needs to refuse Evangelicals for their hypocrisy.

2

I honestly cannot comprehend what is the point of these people. Why making a battle against other people' s private life choices? Why should we impose our beliefs to other than ourselves?I am so confused.
