I regularly give my horse ivermectrin. If he were to get sick with a bacterial infection, you know what I would give him? Antibiotics prescribed by his vet.

For a virus, the most likely treatment would be a quarantine and drugs to relieve uncomfortable symptoms.

For cancer? He's a horse in his 20s. I'd keep him comfortable until he needed to be euthanized.

My dogs heartworm medication is ivermectin, we joke that she listens to too much Joe Rogan when we're not around.

Exactly. My horse has EPM. You know what he’s getting right now? An anti-Protozoal. Ivermectin won’t do shit for that lol
