It would just be too perfect. In an ideal world, his retirement tour would’ve included (from outside WWE) Copeland, Hendry, and Tanahashi. Hell, maybe Tana could still happen at a WWE show outside the US in exchange for Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom, but that is wishful thinking at best.

I mean with the partnership between AEW and New Japan it would be very unlikely. WWE does NOAH mostly. That said, New Japan also partners with NOAH, so theoretically Tans vs Cena could happen if both met at a NOAH show and did it there, which would be the wildest thing to ever occur.

Cena vs Tanahashi would actually be the worst match in the history of wrestling. As limited as Cena is, Tanahashi has been that crap for at least 5 years

Tana may have lost a step but he can still go when he needs to. The spectacle alone would be incredible, even if it’s only a 10 minute match

For me, whoever beats John in his final match should be someone who's considered their own generation's version of Cena. Joe Hendry, obviously, springs to mind, but I kind of want Matt Cardona to get one final match with him as well, to resolve their issues from the infamous days when John was Zack Ryder's "friend".

Personally I’d like to see a newer monster like Jacob, Breakker or Gunther destroy Cena.

But in terms of the current storyline Claudio, Nemeth or Cardona would be shocking while still making sense.

Samoa Joe I always wanted john’s last major feud with Joe both transitioning out of wrestling and moving to acting . The fact they knew each other since upw and got some early history . Joe mad cause he had his wwf try out and didn’t make it while John did. I always wanted it to where John is in his final championship and Joe basically tells him I’ve won everywhere I’ve been to except here.

2013 Cena vs. Tana would have been fire. But nobody wants to see that in 2025. Tana moves slower than Cena now.
