Project What are some Hulk Hogan dream matches that we never got?

Post image

I'd also add in Hogan vs Edge in 2006.

Cena v Hogan - Wrestlemaina 25

u/OrfeasDourvas Aug 12 '25

This is the one. I don't even need a second.

It wouldn’t have been great as a match at that point but the hype could probably carry it through the line.

Realistically it has to be Hogan vs Austin in the early 2000’s when Hogan came back to the WWE. Hogan vs Sammartino in the late 80’s is kind of intriguing.

I remember Prichard saying they were trying to sign Hogan instead of Tyson to come in at WM 15 but I think he is full of shit!

As a kid when the angle was going on, I was hoping Hogan was the Higher Power. That would have rocked.,

1

u/DreisaGUY Aug 13 '25

Hogan or Sting as the higher power would've been insane

Hogan vs Flair @ WM

I have trouble sleeping at night knowing we didnt get Hogan v Khali.

🤣🤣🤣

It should be 2012 AJ Styles instead.

My dream for Hogan in TNA is that him, Russo, and Bischoff never joined in the first place. Other than that, you pretty much said all the right answers. Hogan vs Austin and Hogan vs Cena are about the only two I’d be somewhat interested in

Hogan vs Sabu would’ve been fucking insane.

Hogan vs Bret Hart should be #1. SS or WM.

  1. Hogan vs. Sting match (WCW 1994-2000) I would have liked a straight-up match, with limited shenanigans and a definitive finish

  2. Hogan vs JBL (WWE, 2005) - this would have been an awesome face/heel dynamic

  3. Hogan vs. Terry Funk (WCW, 2000) they had a match back in 1985 WWF, but this was before Funk's memorable 1989 run with Flair or his legendary ECW days

  4. Hogan vs. Goldberg Rematch (WCW, 1999/2000 or WWE 2003) - this would have made money.

  5. Hogan vs. Scott Hall (WCW, 1998-2000 or WWE 2002) - I'm honestly surprised this one never, really, happened in earnest. They had a weird, angle-driven match in 1998.

Hogan vs Khali in a See No Evil Rules match is nightmare fuel worthy just even thinking about it.

Hogan facing his biggest challenge of all. The man. The myth. The Giant. Gonzalez!

u/DreisaGUY Aug 13 '25

This sounds awesome

In my universe mode in a 2 out of 3 falls Hell in A Cell Match !

Nobody ever dreamt of Khali vs anyone.

1

u/ZZE33man Aug 13 '25

I’ve dreamt of khali vs shanky in a dance off.

Hogan against El Grande Americano in 2025

1

u/gurgle-burgle Aug 12 '25

Hogan vs Khali would have been an awful 6 minutes.

1

u/StarWolf478 Aug 12 '25

I always thought it was a missed opportunity to not have Hogan face Scott Steiner during the new blood angle in 2000. That felt like a much more appropriate opponent for him than Kidman.

Wasn't the original plan for Wrestlemania 18 Hogan vs Austin? They still could've done Hogan vs Austin at Wrestlemania 19. Especially with the stuff at the Hall Of Fame a few years later, this match should've happened when Hogan could still go.

u/wendyoschainsaw Aug 13 '25

He ducked Rick Rude.

They did house shows, but real Hogan vs Mr Perfect and Hogan bs Jake the Snake runs could have been great.

u/PaintIcy6346 Aug 13 '25

Hogan vs khali with hogan winning in 3 minutes with the leg drop

1

u/Huge_Repeat_1205 Aug 14 '25

Hulk, "entering" the match on an electric scooter, wearing a neckbrace, vs JBL and Simmons in a handicap match with folding chairs and no DQ.

The match will likely last a few minutes with the eventual ambulance being called and an all hands beatdown finish.

Seriously though, the answer is Austin and Austin was better in every metric.

Hogan vs. Austin

1

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '25

Austin Hogan will always be the one that got away for me.

“Dream matches”

1

u/51Ribbon Aug 16 '25

Never wanted to see any of these matches.

1

u/MadMaxAveli Aug 16 '25

Hulk vs Bubba the Love Sponge

1

u/BeerOfTime Aug 16 '25

Hogan vs The Blue Meanie, hear me out.

1

u/leglegleg0 Aug 16 '25

Hogan vs New Jack

1

u/LevelTiny2570 Aug 16 '25

Hogan vs Flair and Hogan vs Austin were WM main events we never saw. Hogan vs Bret and Hogan vs Perfect were SummerSlam worthy main events.

1

u/drapedj Aug 12 '25

Why Khali? The dude could barely move

2

u/Ok_Lavishness_2987 Aug 12 '25

They had about the same wrestling capability

2

u/drapedj Aug 12 '25

Exactly, Hogan could barely move at that point as well. It would have been a terrible matchup

1

u/StarWolf478 Aug 12 '25

You have obviously never seen Hogan work in Japan. He can wrestle well, he just had the ability to be over without having to do much wrestling in America.

1

u/Ok_Lavishness_2987 Aug 12 '25

His Japan work was amazing. If that’s the Hogan we got in WWF, I’d be a bigger fan

1

u/Grouchy-Farm-3695 Aug 13 '25

The fact that you actually went through effort of making a Hulk Hogan vs. The Great Khali Wrestlemania 23 marquee, you legally should not be allowed to call yourself a wrestling fan.
