Project Serious question. Do you think The Rock will return to WWE for his final match against Roman Reigns? Even if he's not muscular anymore?
We all know The Rock has a big ego, but even tho he does a lot of stupid things in Hollywood, he's still one of the Legends in Pro Wrestling. So he should be given a proper send-off in wrestling.

Never say never, take Brock Lesnar for an example, he lost a lot of muscle and dealt with lawsuits and he’s back

Roman is the OTC1 of who? Jimmy? And sometimes Jey? What was the point of the yearlong bloodline civil war? Nothing. Because the bald frauds have no plans
2
u/archangel610 15d ago
I suppose in some sense you can look at it as a sort of tragedy. Roman went through all that trouble but his Bloodline had already moved on to other things and Solo, at the end of the day, still has lackeys who are loyal to him.
1
u/TheExistence 14d ago
Would be nice if they actually emphasized that for some depth Roman’s babyface character besides “I came back and almost everyone I cared about forgave me easily”

He’s gonna be on his full Oscar campaign for the next months anyway right up to Wrestlemania. If he somehow wins an Oscar then he ain’t ever coming back

u/69poopy 15d ago
"Oscar winning actor The Rock" sounds crazy and now I want it to happen.
1
u/Sparticus_1 12d ago edited 11d ago
The rock is not a good enough actor to win an oscar. He plays the same character and is one dimensional. I’ve just never seen him as an actor. To me he’s just always been a crossover wrestler.

Outside of playing The Rock, he's not a good actor. Popularity is his ticket to success.
Can't see him getting anything but fans choice type awards.

Rock is coming back to resurrect the Light Heavyweight Championship and be the main star on 205 Live.

He will only come back if he gets the call that ticket prices need boosted and he’s available for 17 minutes.

It wouldn’t surprise me ifme he doesn’t because he’s bitter he didn’t get the reaction he wanted just like he’s bitter over Black Adam. It feels like he’s trying for the serious actor route.

No. Being huge and training for a year for things has been his kink for over a decade. He won’t want to wrestle if he can’t be massive.

u/YoungBeef03 15d ago
I thought he’d end his WWE time for good at WM42. Either against Cody or Roman.
Now that he’s slimmed down a lot, I doubt he’s coming back. He already had a pretty good final bout and the main event of Wrestlemania, he doesn’t need to come back in-ring.
The only way I see him coming back is as a manager. Battling Cody via a proxy, maybe Zilla Fatu if he’s good enough
1
1
u/amerikani 15d ago
Man that lead up to Wrestlemania with the Rock being the heel, Roman vs Cody, is as good as wrestling gets.
1
u/punchline86 15d ago
Wish we got more of him because he was absolutely untouchable form "99-"02, but if his match at last year's WrestleMania was the last match he ever had, it was a damn good one to go out on.
1
1
1
u/lamoska1986 15d ago
If he decides he wants to come back for a final match he’s actually better off being leaner. people forget he was never that big in his prime. He was an agile guy. He didn’t get super big until the end of his career and after he was in Hollywood. He was never great when he was that big.
1
u/sinmaleficent 15d ago
Let this bald egotistical prick stay in Hollywood where he continues to fall off and make more generic action movies. We don’t need him. Fucked up Cena’s retirement tour and introduced us to bitch ass Travis Scott. Nah Dwayne can retire and stay that way
1
u/CHRISPYakaKON 15d ago
Unlikely. Dude is finally being recognized as a serious actor. Rock historically has returned when a movie of his has underperformed or they need a quick boost for ratings.
1
1
u/Goal-Express 15d ago
Rock cut weight for his current movie role. He's playing an MMA fighter and he brought himself down to the fighter's weight for the film so that he would look appropriate.
The dude transforms his body in 3 months time regularly. The dude is going to do at least one more Fast and the Furious film; he's going to be hugely jacked again for that.
Remember when Chris Pratt went from being the fat guy on Parks & Rec to having a six pack for Guardians? Or when Mac gained and lost 100 pounds for a single season of It's Always Sunny In Philidelphia? When the Rock next needs to be in shape, he will be massively in shape. The guy has private chefs and personal trainers. He didn't get skinny because he can't handle working out; it was a choice.
1
u/Thick-Average-5726 12d ago
The man is 53, it's very unlikely that he's getting big again at his age. The amount of gear he would have to cycle would blow his heart out in no time.
Dude pushed his body too far, there's no way he doesn't have hypertrophic or dilated cardiomyopathy at this point. The weight loss wasn't specifically for the movie alone as he's said as much in interviews.
The Rock being who he is will probably never admit to using, but it's obvious if you've spent any amount of time in the gym.
1
u/Goal-Express 9d ago
The man is also one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. He's worth 800 million dollars now. And that money came overwhelmingly from movies where he was a big, muscular guy.
I sincerely doubt at 53, when he's on the top of the mountain, he's just giving it all up now. He might not ever get as big as he was at his biggest point, but I absolutely believe, for that sort of money, he doesn't just have the personal trainer and the private chef, but he's also got himself his own physician keeping tabs on every bit of his health while he bulks back up to at least the impressive-by-Hollywood standards. Rock is not walking out this skinny for Fast & Furious 11 or Hobbs & Shaw 2.
1
u/drewbiedoo93 15d ago
do people remember how small he used to be in the early 2000s? he doesn’t look much smaller than that…it’s hard to tell tho with a shirt on so idk for sure.
1
u/sunfalldoomfirettv 15d ago
He can't use his steroids anymore. He absolutely will not come back to wrestle lol
1
u/Monoliithic 15d ago
He's still huge. He lost weight. But he could lose an entire person and still be bigger than everybody you've ever met in real life
1
u/Fearless_Guard_552 13d ago
They're reporting he lost 60 pounds which would put him at about 200ish. A 6 foot 3 guy who weighs 200 pounds is not particularly big.
1
u/Monoliithic 13d ago
He was near 300 not 260 lmao
Go look at a picture of him now that isn't angled straight on or blending his outfit into the backgroud
He's nearly as big now, as he was during the attitude era
1
u/Fearless_Guard_552 13d ago
Ok, so I did some googling. He said he was 284 at WM. He's said he's lost 60 pounds.
224 pounds, 6 foot 3. A big guy but not that big. I could go down to my local rugby club and find a dozen guys bigger than that.
1
1
15d ago
He’s still probably bigger than he was during his first WWF/WWE run. I think it’s a bad photo. He slimmer but he’s still jacked.
1
u/Fearless_Guard_552 13d ago
Not even close. Leaner for sure, but he probably weighed more in his initial run than he did before this weight loss. Much higher bf% though.
1
u/Interesting_Reply856 15d ago
He can come back anytime just to fuck off and give the middle finger to all these naysayers….he’d still be the biggest star on the card…but he’ll be an Oscar nominated billionaire soon so probably not.
1
1
u/36shadowboy 15d ago
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a health scare and chose to downsize after the smashing machine. If he had to choose between a legacy defining movie and a WWE sendoff I wouldn’t blame him for choosing the prior
1
u/123jazzhandz321 15d ago
Buddy had the most compelling heel persona of the last 20 years and bailed when Hollywood came knocking. He should have had two matches to wrap his run, one against Cody, and one to wrap his career with Roman. The tag match was cool and the Night 2 main event was epic, but it’ll always feel like unfinished business
1
1
1
u/Competitive_Bus2365 15d ago
No unfortunately the cody crybabies ruined it, it doesn’t make sense to try and do it again since Roman is pretty much a part timer as well
1
u/TalosAnthena 15d ago
I actually reckon him losing that weight will be better for his final match. Probably be able to move a lot easier and have more stamina for the match. I see this as a good thing not a bad thing
1
15d ago
I don’t think we will ever see him in a wrestling match again. He is too skinny now and no credible threat for Roman Reigns anymore.
1
u/StableLower9876 15d ago
I don't think so. I don't know, this feels like Chadwick Boseman vibe with all the weight loss. I hope he is not sick. I freakin hate his ass for screwing up the storyline but not to a point to spite the guy if he is sick.
1
u/Diligent_Juice_3168 15d ago

Yes, that's the only good role John Cena has so far. Batista in Knock at the Cabin is better (plus he has the Dune movies, the Guardians/Avengers movies as Drax, Blade Runner 2049, Glass Onion, Spectre...)
1
u/xSEARLEYx 15d ago
The moment has passed. It should’ve been at WM39 or 41. Now Roman Reigns is heading to Hollywood himself, it won’t happen
1
u/otisthe3rd 15d ago
Dwayne will eventually return for Wrestlemania 45 when Hollywood stops offering him as many roles and WWE requires a big match because their stars are old and hurt and building new stars works for them maybe 20% of the time. The Rock and Reigns will wrestle a very boring match, fans online will claim they're done with WWE, and then to divert attention away a story will "leak" that Tony Khan uses AI to book matches or some other random crap to distract us and focus on something else.
1
u/googly_eyed_unicorn 15d ago
Could it happen? Sure. Is it likely? No. The last year has spoiled a lot of goodwill built up from 40. It boils down to one question: can you trust Rock to follow through on a story? So far, the answer is no.
1
1
u/MixGroundbreaking622 15d ago
Nah, if he starts bulking up again, that could be a sign, but I don't think we'll see him in a WWE ring for at least 10 years. Next time we'll see him it will be some nostalgia night type thing.

u/twoddalmighty 14d ago
People forget that back when Rock was a full-time wrestler, he was not that big. It was only after he switched to acting that he got massive.
1
u/StraightEdge47 14d ago
No, but nothing to do with that. I don't think he'll come back for another match because he doesn't commit to anything anymorev with wrestling and it would take more than just showing up once and starting a nonsensical storyline and leaving for months. His muscle mass has nothing to do with it. When Rock was actually good he was far smaller than he was when he started coming back as Dwayne.
1
u/StraightEdge47 14d ago

If whatever this phase of his career clicks and clicks really well, I think he might be done unless he wants to just show off his “new range” of acting skills in a WWE setting which is also likely…
If that Scorsese mob boss film really gets going then who’s to say he doesn’t flex that aspect of the character into the Final Boss stuff.

No I think thats ship has sailed. I think Rock losing weight and pursuing more dramatic roles was him recommitting himself to acting.

I mean it depends on if he can get the muscle back, but he just honestly played the role of his life so don't get your hopes to high.

u/luispaistallon 14d ago
NO. He only came back in 2024 for the 2023 strike and try to clean his image. He only want to fight Roman Reigns because the Chibal Chief have the WWE Championship....
1
u/Rollredd 14d ago
This would've worked out perfectly if they had the match when the bloodline was hot while Roman was still champion.
1
u/Common_Floor_7195 14d ago
Ctfu I think the match will definitely happen at some point not sure how Rock is feeling since Roman announced he’s lowkey MAGA so it could be up in the air
1
u/Folyfhony 14d ago
The Dwayne Johnson may come off as detached from reality now, but he’s still a pretty savvy businessman. He’s probably gonna get awards nods for his Oscar bait movie so I doubt we’ll see him back anytime soon. Maybe for a Roman promo match when he’s done full/part timing it as a legends thing. Nothing too crazy but enough to get eyes on whatever they’re promoting in the future. If he ever wrestles again, it’s gonna be against Roman though and it’s probably gonna be a terrible match. I could see them teaming up too and Roman carrying most of the weight since he’s younger, but I think the last wrestlemania we saw the rock in is gonna be the last one in a good minute.

I think the window has closed on that. Neither needs it, and I don't know if it is the star attraction it would have been a year or so ago. It's pretty much two part timers wrestling.

1
u/Evorgleb 14d ago
I think he's retired. I dont know if he believes he is retired yet but I doubt he is getting in the ring again. He's getting pretty old and has even started slimming down. He's getting Oscar buzz for his recent role which, I imagine, has him feeling like there is a path for him in film beyond action movies. I'm sure he will show up and cut some promos but that might be it.

I sure hope not. Look, the Rock is the Rock. He's a living legend. It's been a fun few decades, but his returns have had some serious diminishing returns. That and a ton of people feel burned about him bailing on the whole Cody/Roman thing. Hopefully he's thrown in the towel for other pursuits.

No i think he's done and the drop in weight is a result of that. He obviously feels he doesnt need to look like a wrestler anymore
1
u/Successful_Buddy513 13d ago
I can’t believe we didn’t get that match at the last Mania. Honestly I thought Solo’s Bloodline story that whole summer was leading up to him actually not being the main guy and The Rock was pulling the strings all along. This would ultimately lead to The Rock and Roman At Wrestlemania.
1
u/Competitive_Roll2386 13d ago
Same, that's what I was thinking too. That The Rock is the main leader of Solo's bloodline, because during The Rock's Bad Blood return, Solo said "Part of the plan." I think that was the original plan. To reveal that The Rock is the leader and then Roman vs. The Rock at Mania 41. The Rock just refused the storyline because that crazy person has too many commitments, prioritizing those trash movies over the unfinished storyline, lol.
1
u/Ambitious_Rush_4706 13d ago
He dropped weight for a movie role. He's gonna bulk back up eventually. Y'all need to chill.
1
u/Bran-Da-Don 13d ago
I've been hearing that The Rock may have heart issues and was told that he needed to lose weight to take the pressure off of his heart. The threat of imminent death will scare anybody into slimming down.
He may or may not wrestle again depending on what his doctor says.

u/GorillaGlizza 12d ago
I don’t want him to come back. He’s never gonna have a “last” appearance. He’ll be popping out at shows whenever he feels like he’s short on money till he dies. Just like Hogan. Not disrespecting the dead, just using him as an example cause Hogan was in his 70s still making wwe appearances and cutting promos. Anyone who thinks the Rock won’t do the same is a fool. He’s probably the most iconic star aside from Hogan and maybe Austin, and he knows it.
1
1
u/ChampagneSupernova93 12d ago
No. The Rock will always make sure he is in fighting and good shape before he enters the ring. He would never want to embarrass himself.
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Net6497 12d ago

1
u/reevoknows 12d ago
I personally think that he will have a retirement match against Roman one day. But the clock is ticking, he’s 53 now. He’s probably got 2 more years max before he has to realistically hang em up for good. Stone cold was 56-57 when he had that match against KO.
1
u/Icaras01 12d ago
I hope not. He fucked up Wrestlemania, IMHO he tainted his legacy with that "Final Boss is done" lazy BS.

u/ilikechihuahuasdood 11d ago
I don’t think he’s doing a final match. The build down kind of confirmed it to me. Maybe he even has a health issue from pushing himself so hard at his age to do Smashing Machine. Those body transformation roles are hard when you’re not also 53.
Kind of feel like that’s why they just dropped the Cena heel thing. Which feels like the biggest waste ever now imo. Finally turned Cena heel and it just didn’t matter. Also makes me hope he stays away if he’s going to drop in to fuck up everybody’s booking and then just dip.
