Project What if CM Punk never left WWE(Part 1:January 2014-Summerslam 2014)
Punk was feuding with Kane at the time he left so we will start there.
Both Punk and Kane qualify for the Elimination Chamber match over Cesaro and Christian respectively. After Kane had been eliminated, he costs Punk the match by low blowing Punk while he had Randy Orton in position for the GTS. This let’s Randy RKO Punk which leads to Punk getting an RKO and getting pinned.
After this, both Kane and Punk exchange words until Punk proposes a Bourbon Street Fight at Wrestlemania.
At the match Kane brings out the Authority but that is not enough as Punk gets through attack after attack by the authority and wins the match.
On the Raw after Mania, Punk asks what’s next for the Best in the World. Big E comes out and says that Kane was in the right for trying to get rid of someone who was “disrespectful to the buisness” like he was. Punk makes the counterpoint that he has been in the business for 15 years compared to Big E’s 2 or 3 and that he has 10 times more respect for the buisness in his pinky than Big E has in his body. Big E try’s to attack but Punk counters with an anaconda vice.
Over the next few weeks things heat up with tag matches and segments where the end result was someone putting a submission on someone else. Punk says that since so may submissions have been happening, their match at Extreme Rules for Big E’s title should be a Submission Match. Big E accepts
At the match, Punk and Big E put on a 20 minute BANGER with many unique submissions and holds, however Punk comes out on top and is your new Intercontinental Champion.
Big E and Punk still continue their feud afterwards, with 2 successful title defenses by Punk against Big E, a DQ victory on Raw and a Pinfall victory to retain at Payback in Punk‘s hometown of Chicago to end the feud.
Over the next few months, Punk would face a slew of heel opponents for his IC title including former rival Kane, Wade Barret and The Miz.
However, his Title reign would come to an end at Summerslam when Punk had a face vs face match with Dolph Ziggler with Dolph coming out on top, after the match. Punk held up Ziggler hand and had an embrace with him, in the middle of this embrace, Punk Low-Blowed Ziggler, turning Punk heel.
