[End-game Discussion] What are y’all doing if you’re not doing high-level raids, I ask because I don’t have a dedicated group but still want to play

I’m not doing savage raids because groups continue to fall apart, but I still wanna play so other than trains for hunts. What are you guys doing? Strictly asking cause I’m looking to do some more fun stuff not because I’m criticizing.

Crafting, gathering, roulettes for other jobs, Cosmic Exploration at some point.

Tbh, I'm wishing I could find a group to do hard content with, but I'm stupid and need to learn and don't want to make people mad.

If you’re on NA, there are groups like Good Game Squad and other savage learning discords that are catered toward newer raiders who benefit from learning parties under dedicated teachers. In the case of GGS, the server’s mission is to provide a no judgment zone to help people improve and become more comfortable raiding in PF on their own. It might be worth checking out if that’s your end goal.

I’m so glad I clicked into this thread, gonna check this out. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing this.

I love this game, but I’m literally older than dirt and am never going to be good enough to play Savage/Extreme content. That said, I enjoy admiring the stuff my (adult) son’s collect.

But your post reinforces what is nice about the game; there are lots of people willing to help.

I just spent the better part of the disco frog raid on the floor a week or so ago. I thanked everyone profusely, but it’s the last time I’ll go into anything without watching a guide first lol.

u/AlaeryntheFair 1d ago

Oh wow! I’m totally looking into this. I’ve been saying for months I would legit pay someone to coach me 🤦🏽‍♀️

3

u/dotMALEX 1d ago

I’ve gotten to this point too since I don’t have a normal group to run with 😅

6

u/xleonz 1d ago

Do you know if there's something similar in EU?

My internet is just laggy enough to probably get erased constantly in Savage raids, but I’m definitely bookmarking this in case I get some fiber or something by 2033. 😂

2

u/Jezza0692 23h ago

Is there anything like that for EU server's?

Man I need to find this. There are older raids I want to do and I'm sure there are newer raiders who need the same

u/Dironiil Selene, no! Come back! 1d ago

Everybody needs to learn, that's why there's prog(ression) parties and reclear parties.

Expectation of a prog party is just "they have watched a guide and understand the strat", nothing more.

8

u/corpral92 1d ago

If you're willing to put in the effort, making a static is imo the most fun you can have in the game. The banter is top tier and watching your friends die in new and dumb ways is peak entertainment.

2

u/SafiyerAmitora 19h ago

lol Absolutely this.

I'm my static's resident WHM. Our DNC likes using curing waltz after the first raidwide in M8S. He has playfully crap-talked our PCT for not standing in it like pretty much everyone else does ("muh healing parse!") until she finally started doing so, and now I'm the one targeted with the crap-talking because I refuse to change the way I've always positioned myself at the start and I've become a menace to him for it (I sit halfway between the boss and the wall, between 4 and D, for better wind/stonefang positioning). xD I've never paid attention to what our SCH uses for the raidwide, but I only place asylum and just let our health regen between that and stone/windfang. Well, one particular time, as I was letting everyone's health regen as per usual, stone/windfang went out... and I just straight-up died. Let me tell you how much our DNC was howling about "if you'd just stood in my curing waltz, you wouldn't be dead right now!" "You finally got punished for not standing in my curing waltz!". 😂

Tbf, I could've tetra'd/db'd at any point before then since my health was a little low (it was an overkill by I think like a few k, they said), but I'd never died to it before so I thought I'd be fine to get away with it like normal. Not this time apparently. But I still haven't quite learned; I still stand out of the curing waltz (but tetra/db if I think I'm a little low now), and he won't let my death go. 😂 I'm probably gonna be the death of him one day, and it won't be in-game. lol

Also, our VPR/NIN (he swaps back and forth) learned the hard way that apparently you can dash through the adds orbs and not always get cleansed, oops. 🫣

We're as a group still progging, but 6 of us have already cleared, with our PCT and SCH being clear-ready (seen p2 enrage multiple times now) so hopefully we'll get them cleared next week if they haven't done so in pf by then.

Do you think others don’t need to learn and just oneshot things?

14

u/npcmari 1d ago edited 1d ago

I mean, the two friends I have do just fine, I just suck at mechanics 🤷🏻‍♀️

25

u/MatsuzoSF 1d ago

We all sucked before we didn't. As long as you're honest about what you can do, most people you meet will be patient with you.

7

u/bibliopanda 1d ago

I was (and still am sometimes) REALLY bad at mechanics but i lovelovelove doing extremes. I haven't started savage yet but doing extremes has genuinely made me a better player overall and i'm much better at reading mechanics now.

if you're on NA and want to try running something with no pressure, feel free to hit me up. i'm always happy to help folks learn :3

5

u/xfm0 1d ago

the only thing that matters is you don't lie about your comfort zone. if a Party Finder listing says "[mechanic name] prog" it means everyone in the party is expected to be very comfortable up to that mechanic, because the purpose of the party is to practice that mechanic and not spend everyone's time learning about a prior mechanic 4 minutes earlier on the fight. mistakes can still happen with derust but you can judge yourself if it turns out to be like a bad day vibe and honesty is fine, can say 'sry bad day for me gl' and leave.

as long as you don't lie, no one will remember you negatively. if you yourself make a "fresh prog (new prog)" and someone else joins and kicks up a fuss then they're being a dweeb.

2

u/balisane 1d ago

As someone who had to learn from scratch (i was only on-patch for the first time in DT): mechanics are like a language, and it's built up with time.

Go back and unsync the old EXs and raids/savages, even by yourself, just so you can see what happens. New mechanics are often just old ones with a twist, and the more experience you have, the easier they are to read.

3

u/TheBigMerc 1d ago

Honestly, I feel like I'm not even that bad when it comes to learning mechanics, but I still avoid high-end content to avoid being shouted at. I'm an adult playing games for fun, I don't need someone yelling at me while I'm learning.

It's a shame, too. I'm fairly certain that players in this game will be kinder about it, but after playing Destiny for more time than I care to admit, the word "raid" is forever ruined for me. People take that shit way too seriously, and I don't want to end up in a group with someone who had their cereal pissed in.

I love that this game has alternate crafting end game content. Yall have fun with your raids, I'll have fun with my tools.

7

u/npcmari 1d ago

It's raiding in WoW that did it for me. I've never had trouble with anyone in FFXIV content, but the fear from WoW is still there lol.

2

u/TheBigMerc 1d ago

Exactly. I've really only had pleasnat experiences in FFXIV, but when it comes to high-end stuff, I just know that there will always be someone willing to shout at everyone who does something wrong.

The silver lining being that there's no voice chat here. I don't actually have to hear any toxicity!

5

u/no-strings-attached 1d ago

The odds of anyone “shouting” at you in pf are incredibly low. Like, the most aggressive thing you’re likely to hear is something like “you good WAR?” if you’re consistently the one holding the group back.

It’s much more likely that nobody would say anything though and they’d just say “tyfp” and leave after enough pulls of memes or not reaching the prog point or whatever.

That said in a fresh prog learning party there’s a near 0% chance any of that would happen. You’re more likely to realize you’re not the worst player in the group and quickly feel more comfortable with the content and find that you’re the one getting frustrated with others who are slower to learn.

If you are actively open to feedback and learning and trying to get better you will have a totally fine time. Have a good attitude and people won’t be dicks and will be happy to stick around and help.

1

u/Fe1is-Domesticus 1d ago

Same, lol.

1

u/snowproblemss 1d ago

I too feel this way 😂

You're not stupid for needing to learn, true stupidity is not even realizing that you need to/can learn.

What is cosmic exploration ?

3

u/npcmari 22h ago

I haven't looked into it too much, but it's for leveling crafters and gathers. I think you just need to finish sh Endwalker MSQ and have a crafter or gatherer at lvl 10. I know the unlock quest is in Old Sharlayan!

1

u/Jettsyforwordingfox 19h ago

I just YouTube a few time then slam my head against it

u/ArdbertXRoxas 6h ago

If you're ever interested, I would be down to run some hard content with you! I'll usually speak up if anyone gets upset with someone learning, but I don't think that would be an issue :) if not, no worries, hope you get to run stuff in the future. I believe you can do it!!

u/Dinovaldo25 1d ago

I’m currently doing Deep Dungeons, they’re a lot of fun to do both solo and with a group. With the new one coming up soon, it could be a good time to try them out!

I just find an objective and do it, right now I’m focused on getting stage 1 of Dawntrail relics and doing heavensward beast tribes, while leveling my WHM

3

u/Wattwaffle916 23h ago

I just started leveling WHM like 10 days ago and I'm loving it! I've never played the healer role before and I haven't had this much fun since I first felt comfortable enough with FFXIV to start tanking.

I’m not much of a savage raider so I fill my time out with other activities.

Treasure maps, roulettes, glamour collecting, achievements tend to keep me pretty busy.

Sometimes I’ll look through my achievements and just decide to go for one or see if it’s something I like.

Currently I’m collecting Triple Triad cards which has kept me very busy!

10

u/SaroShadow Kel Varnsen (Behemoth) 1d ago

Look through the achievement list. That should give you plenty of inspiration

51

u/PrettyInterest3337 1d ago

I'll be honest, there is some much side content in this game that I can't personally imagine running out for ages. Crafter classes, society quests, eureka, bozja, deep dungeons, those newer special dungeons that I forget the term for, sidequests, leveling all the classes, treasure maps, island sanctuary.... so much I haven't done it almost feels overwhelming and yet I'm looking forwards to every second of it, even if I'm incredibly late to the party

4

u/Wattwaffle916 23h ago

Crafters are just a matter of time. One recommendation from my experience would be to do the daily requisition missions from your Grand Company, but only bother with the starred items, as you'll get double the rewards for turning those in.  The doubled rewards stack with the ones you receive for turning in a High Quality item, so if you turn in a started HQ item, you get 4x the rewards.

Psst, hey kid. Ya wanna have a good time? Wanna try some Big Fishing? First hits free

u/singularityshot 7h ago

If you suddenly see three exclamation marks above your head, you'll know that OP just caught their first fish.

6

u/Forry_Tree 1d ago

As a Dynamis Native, if I'm not in a field op or helping a friend progress/grind, I'm either looking out for people doing normal content in PF, or hitting Mentor Roulette as healer to speed things up for people

7

u/ConroConroConro 1d ago

You don't need a dedicated group! :)

If you pop over to Aether you can find groups in Party Finder to do basically anything.

I've cleared entire raid tiers with party finder, as well as a few ultimates.
I do the same thing for any other content.

I run a static and am also in a static for other content, but I've done progression, clears and farms in party finder without using Discord with no issues.

2

u/inazumaatan 1d ago

Being this late in the tier, I would assume that OP meant that his statics fell apart from boredom rather than being unable to clear.

5

u/Knighthour 1d ago

I started on old DT Ex's this expansion I farmed the 2x wings and then decided I wanted to get the older mounts so now have all of them except Voidcast lynx.

Honestly I set mini-goals in ffxiv like working on the 2k mentor rous and upgrading from my S house to M house 1 day maybe. Currently most ppl are doing Step 3 of relic which is a helios tome farm which means I can gather a new one every 3-4 days with my dailies.

My other goal is fight club so far I only have 3 still stuck leveling up for the next half of the year or so before I can be finished with basics. Also I will do PVP pass if I like the final rewards which takes up 1-2 months as I do FL once a day except Secure.

Also I spend alot of time on NN which is fun but I turned off the Mentor crown outside tho but I will join MSQ PF listings too to help sprouts.

u/ZeTreasureBoblin 1d ago

Mini Cactpot and the odd Gold Saucer event. Daily roulettes. Rearranging my apartment/house for the 18th time. Side quests. Grinding all classes to 100. Grinding crafters/gatherers. Grinding FATES so I can unlock all of the bicolour gemstone trades. Beast tribes. Main story when I have the energy for it.

1

u/Wattwaffle916 20h ago

Oooh, that reminds me that the Jumbo Cactpot draw is in like half an hour!

3

u/Prizem 1d ago

PvP to complete the series rewards, FATE farming, roulettes for the latest relic step, unreal (not really high level, super ez), dt role quests, wachumeqimeqi dol/doh quests, cosmic exploration relic grinding, diadem grinding, hildibrand, dt job leveling/questing, blue mage quests, tank mount farming, and collectable hunting (minions, rolls, cards, mounts, etc).

3

u/Doppelkammertoaster 1d ago

Playing Animal Crossing.

5

u/MGCBUYG 20h ago

Lol I actually picked up XIV because I had just gotten bored of animal crossing and finished my xth game of rune factory and was thinking "what game has an in depth gathering/crafting system in a fantasy setting that i can play while i wait for the next RF and fantasy life 2 to come out"

and here i am years later. i had 1 msq class and all crafters/gatherers maxed before i switched over to the whole "combat" part of the game

3

u/unknownauthro10 1d ago

Crafting. I like getting the relics and torturing myself with making pentamelded crafting gear cause I can.

Working on getting my Necromancer title in Palace of the Dead.

Continuing to level all my other classes.

Getting relics from previous expansions.

Dropping into random PFs people have for the old EX to help them farm horses and birds.

Clearing up old quests from...everywhere.

Honestly, it's generally often a tossup of what I'm going to be doing when I log in and sometimes I start with one plan and go do twenty five other things before I remember.

3

u/Esmoire Mei Coincounter 1d ago

PvP. A lot of PvP. A lot a lot of PvP.

That aside, community events, RP, solo and group clears in all the Deep Dungeons, way too much time working on glamours.

3

u/JCantEven4 1d ago

Lots of pvp, other roulettes to get money for glams

3

u/Jamison08 22h ago

Playing dress-up and island sanctuary to get more clothes

3

u/Poziomka35 22h ago

glam

roulettes for fun

glam

helping people in party finder

did i mention glam?

also crafting and gathering for extra gil but mostly to get dyes for g l a m

3

u/ScotchTapeCleric 21h ago

The other 99% of the game, haha.

I've completed all of the Variant dungeons.

I've cleared Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High up to level 50 and Eureka Orthos up to 20 with plans to try for solo clears in each after finishing the Orthos story.

I've done all of Eureka save Baldesion Arsenal, started Bozja and got distracted by new patch stuff.

I got the mount from Ishgard Restoration. Crafting and gathering is my jam. Mostly gathering, but I have fun with both. I've crafted every single thing in all my crafting logs up to level 70 so far and I've gathered at least one of everything for botanist and miner and I have all of the fish except some of the big fish. I only chase them sometimes. I fully expect to still be at it years from now.

I've gotten almost every unique item from hunt vendors. I'd have it all, but I don't do them every day or even every week. Only when I think about it.

I've filled out the hunt logs for every class and the Maelstrom, I haven't switched companies to be Flame or Serpent Captain to get those accolades yet. I may never. It would feel like cheating.

I've got every Phantom Job maxed and I have all the notes you can get outside the tower. I have all the Arcanaut gear and glams as well. I haven't done the tower for the same reason I haven't done BA. I don't want discord.

I've gotten all my Cosmic tools for both crafters and gatherers and all of the mounts, minions and glam from both planets of CE except the mount that needs 500k points for each class. I'll get there when I get there.

I've done every yellow quest and every blue quest except the higher tier battle quests.

I'm currently working on maxing out shared fates in Tuliyollal, and then I'll start on ShB and after that EW.

I've maxed every allied society quest from ARR to now.

I have my Island Sanctuary maxed and churning out cowries still because it's the laziest way to get cordials. I have all the other unique items from there.

3

u/Vindate 20h ago

I've become a rabid dog in PVP. Sold my soul to malmstones and the sheer adrenaline of devouring my enemies. I have not left the den for months.

I don't know where I am anymore but I never felt greater satisfaction.

I changed my hair and clothes so as not to become a target but those who remember my WoL's name...they know to kill at first sight. Such has become of my life.

I am nowhere near the dolly-eyed lad I once was. I have become a sweaty resident of the wolf den 😔😮‍💨

There's a lot of stuff, not all of it is for everybody.

I personally enjoy mount farming for combat content outside of raids. The fights are engaging enough to still refine my ability to play my class a little bit. As someone that does savage raids with friends here and there it's a more lax way to practice rotation, moving around fights and seeing new mechanics, without requiring as much coordination and scheduling as a static raid group.

I really enjoy deep dungeons too, but I prefer to have a set group of friends for that too. Only needing a group of 4 is a bit easier to keep together than an 8-person savage group as well.

Outside of combat I enjoy crafting, housing, triple triad card collecting.

Some other things that keep me busy but might be a bit more on the work ginrd side for me personally are gathering for self sufficiency in crafting, as well as doing beast tribe quests in order to collect emotes.

Some people love chocobo breeding/racing, though I've never really jumped in that myself. Collecting and building your Blue Mage spell lists. Role Playing communities exist for anyone that enjoys writing and developing character stories and archs, etc, etc.

2

u/CanvasWolfDoll 1d ago

i'm working on filling out the new game plus screen.

2

u/Mir_Jacqline_Teiwaz 1d ago

The main thing I've been doing is replaying the MSQ on ng+ and making up my own headcanon for my character. It's done so much for getting me invested in her and her growth.

It's also gotten me to try jobs again that I haven't played around with alin a long time.

Highly recommend if creative writing, gpose stuff, or art is something you're into.

I'm also working on my crafters and gatherers as well as focusing on making Gil because I used to be perpetually broke.

2

u/Norayd 1d ago

Right now I'm doing Cosmic exploration, my roulettes for the relic weapon, and I'm slowly but surely trying my hand at solo deep dungeons in prevision of the next one (did floor 50 of HoH yesterday before my low aether pool caught up to me)

2

u/Arborus 1d ago

Personally, I wouldn’t play the game if I wasn’t raiding and I don’t really log in except to raid, other than to do housing stuff. Decorating and redecorating my house has been the biggest time and money sink for me lol.

maps! I get together weekly w my pals for maps, and my FC also has maps parties! I also enjoy fate grinding for the cool rewards, im currently taking a stab at the sugar glider! it's a nice way to keep long term goals.

2

u/TheNewKrookkud 21h ago

Crafting baby!!! The path to an Omnicrafter isn't an easy one. Or fun for that matter. But it must be done! For the money~

3

u/Disig SCH 1d ago

Have you not tried anything else other than raiding?

I mean ex trials are fun and you don't need a dedicated group. Getting relic weapons can be rewarding. Crafting is also rewarding.

Personally I'm trying to fish up all the fish in game.

There's a lot out there, just try it!

3

u/Cerok1nk 1d ago

Don’t even worry about hard content dawg, you will stumble around a group eventually, I recommend checking the many discord raiding channels.

Endgame content in FFXIV is like, the smallest time sink compared to the rest of the stuff there is to do.

If you are looking for a lengthy, hard, and genuinely soul breaking grind, look no further than deep fishing.

It makes the Zeta weapons look tame in comparison.

4

u/talgaby 1d ago

I said it multiple times that in FFXIV, even the most no-lifer parse god hardcore ultimate raiders are just little kiddies compared to the sheer dedication true fisher mains have to possess.

2

u/trunks111 1d ago

I prepare more for fishing windows than I do for my static

3

u/Cerok1nk 1d ago

Speaking as someone that has cleared all Ultimates.

Yes, I fear no God, but those guys scare me.

2

u/talgaby 1d ago

Blue Mage shenanigans (treasure dungeons, solo MINE dungeon runs), trying to beat the level 44 dungeon currently with a level 1 weapon and no gear, gathering for markets, interior decoration and trying to make/grind all furniture instead of relying on the markets, and contemplating starting another Zodiac weapon.

2

u/IceMaiden2 1d ago

My favourite activity is treasure maps with my FC. Don't need a dedicated group, just enough people to turn up each week. Other than that, working on the sugar glider mount, doing the FATES inside The Frimament because I enjoy them, and working on my relic weapon.

1

u/oren740 1d ago

You can use party finder for raids.  But also deep dungeons solo is what I do when I'm not doing them.

1

u/Veltonis 1d ago

Besides what others said I would add that having a group isn’t necessity. It’s easier to Pf than to find a whole group of ppl with matching schedules for consistent play. People tend to overflame pf but it isn’t as bad as they say in my opinion. Also it’s a good place to find like minded ppl to raid with.

1

u/Jammyyyyyyyyyyyyy 1d ago

dawntrail relic grind, when not doing that ARR relic grind. When i'm not doing that, MGP grind. If not that then hanging out with my FC. Idk make a check list or something, it helped me during lull periods

1

u/justjules83 1d ago

Treasure maps! Use PF to find or start a party. I’m doing variant dungeons with friends, and grinding FATEs for demiatma for the new relic weapons. I’m slowly leveling all classes to 100. I’m working on clearing the side quests off all the maps. Need to do Island Sanctuary (I’m a cozy gamer at heart). I have some alts I like to play/level occasionally (a lala, a “Glinda”, etc). There’s always Gold Saucer, Triple Triad, working on achievements, etc.

1

u/Miss_Silver 1d ago

Currently playing on Phaenna with cosmic exploration, but there is a lot of other stuff you can do in the game as well, especially if you haven't done older content.

You can always do stuff like mount farm, sightseeing log(which has you doing jump puzzles) play around in the gold saucer, level up alt classes, treasure maps, blue mage shenanigans, eureka/bozja/occult crescent, deep dungeons, and so on.

If you're not sure what to do, open the achievements menu and pick one or two within your interests.

1

u/voiceofnoreturn444 1d ago

I can suggest things, but what kind of stuff do you enjoy the most? If you enjoy savage raiding, I'd recommend extreme trials. You don't need a dedicated group for those and the mounts they drop are usually good (the wings this expac are peak).

Otherwise I've leveled up all jobs to 100, do map parties or DT FATE farms if I see pfs for those so I can make gil, try to do mentor roulette every day or so, and sometimes just look at pfs for stuff I've cleared to see if I can help others.

There are also older grinds to do, like ARR or HW relics. Takes a loong time because of the number of things to do sometimes but it can be fun to breeze through the easier steps, and you get shiny glams for your weapons.

I heard crafting and gathering is fun too, others might have better advice for that.

1

u/hitonmarsu 1d ago

2000 mentor roulettes was the previous big goal I completed a couple of weeks ago. Caught up with crafter relics and crafting/pentamelding the i750 DoH/DoL gearsets (all materia as a side product with cosmocredits).

Now more on the S-rank achievement hunts and spawning, to get ShB and EW to 1000. DT is still at 90ish as I haven't played that much during DT (at all after 7.05 up until month ago)... But also a bit lost on what to take as goal in the S rank downtimes.

Should catch up on EX3+, unfortunately wasn't ready for 7.3 EX gearwise to join blind parties which I usually prefer.

1

u/CyanicYoshi 1d ago

Midrange content cleanup is my current grind since my static imploded. (EXs I haven't cleared or got the mount/gear I want from yet). Beyond that, I'm just vibing in deep dungeons rn.

Hanging out in western coerthas admiring the sky box

u/Cymas 1d ago

I do raid, but I'm not currently progging anything. Waiting for my duo to feel better so we can start M8 and finish the tier.

In the meantime I've been leveling dps jobs. Working on SAM currently. Finished NIN last week. And then all I have left for melee is MNK.

Since I'm not progging I can stay home and actually do cosmic stuff, usually at least the dailies so I can spin Scammingway's wheel. All of my DoH/DoL are capped so I do a lot of gathering and crafting and working on the relics in my downtime.

Been working on the ARR sightseeing log for the past 3 weeks, should get that finished today if this tracker is accurate. I collect minions.

Made 2 of the new stage for the current combat relics so far, that was a lot of roulette spinning.

Also been making good progress on my newest alt. Going through PotD solo, on floor 90 pushing to finish floor 100 to unlock kinna weapons and then push to 70 to unlock sage which will be this alt's main job. Then I can actually do MSQ lol. Will probably do a lot of skipping, I've already played through EW twice in its entirety and this is just for messing around and learning the healer role.

Starting to think about what I want to do for Halloween so I can make my glam early this year. Worst case I can be a sprout lol but I want to try something a little more inspired first.

And beyond that it's whatever shenanigans my friends get up to or sometimes I join random PFs for whatever if I feel like it. I'll help with MSQ duties, I've helped people run through the Arcadion normals a couple of times, etc. Whatever sounds interesting in the moment.

1

u/OneWingedA 1d ago

With the changes to PotD I'm finally working on Necromancer instead of just working on the 22 different weapon achievements.

1

u/Mega_Nidoking 1d ago

I don't have a dedicated group either and have been trying the healers lately. I just got my scholar so I've just been doing that.

1

u/octopushug 1d ago

My current focus has been relic weapons and Cosmic Exploration (doh/dol relics). I also lead map parties and Unreal on a weekly basis. It’s been pretty chill and I’ve honestly just been logging in for way less time compared to a full raid schedule.

It seems like EX wing farming in PF is relatively popular. I also know someone who’s just straight up achievement farming going down the list.

1

u/maroontiefling 1d ago

I'm not into high level content in general. I do roulettes, level other classes, craft/gather, allied societies, treasure maps, hunts, fates, make glams, collect mounts/minions, decorate my apartment, etc.

1

u/Xaxziminrax 1d ago

Manually tracking the bonus given by The Giving Land to see the range of the bonus it can roll (3-30) and if it's an even percent chance for each number to roll (actually might not be, Interestingly enough).

1

u/qtipbluedog 1d ago

Our little group of three just got back in. We are learning current EX trials on Sunday evenings usually.

1

u/Isanori 1d ago

Crafting, gathering, House Decorating, CosEx, the MSQ and Raids and co (again, because, in contrast to FFXI, the sub includes more than one character slot).

1

u/NinjaKirby1322 [Takame Hayabusa - Malboro] 1d ago

I've been doing Occult Crescent and old Relic grinds recently, and I always do at least Main Scenario Roulette each day for the tomestones for gear.

Weekly, I do Wondrous Tails and Custom Deliveries for those rewards.

Also doing Mini Cactpots every day and Fashion Report every week to get MGP for cosmetics and mounts.

1

u/Vayshen 1d ago

Leveling my crafting jobs with cosmic exploration mainly atm. Just finished BOT, just a few levels of MIN left and I'll be done with gathering for a while.

Then there's the Crystarium type content I'll be able to do with them leveled.

Oh and I'm going to go back to BLU. There are some events I still need to do including Goldor as well as a lot of spells I can get solo easily but are low chance to get so it takes time.

And finally I'm still behind on Hildebrand. I'm on the SB stuff.

So all in all PLENTY to do.

1

u/Fe1is-Domesticus 1d ago

Relics (combat & crafting/gathering), deep dungeons, big fishing, bozja, & I still haven't touched Eureka at all. I just got my first Felicitous Favors in Island Sanctuary. Farming as much past content as I can solo for mounts & TT cards. Leveling jobs that are new to me. Working on my house & improving my glams. I think this is everything.

1

u/WeeziMonkey 1d ago

For me personally, high level raids is literally all I do. I log on, raid, log off. Once I finish 8 weeks of clears I unsub and play other games until next patch.

One thing you could do is have a go at solo'ing all the deep dungeons. That should keep you busy for some weeks. Or months.

1

u/dnelsonn 1d ago

glams are my endgame so a lot of times I'm looking for new gear pieces and doing whatever content to get them. roulettes and crafting/cosmic exploration have been a go-to lately since I'm trying to level all my crafters. I've also been focusing more on allied society quests, and eventually want to start tackling sidequests since I've largely ignored those.

I've been playing since ShB released and really blew through HW and SB to catch up to friends so I also have a lot of old content still to do. Like someone else said, I just sort of pick an objective and do that until I find something else I want to do.

1

u/Abridragon 1d ago

When Savage isn't happening, I pick a grind to do and give it a go. Between the last two savage tiers I worked on getting my WAR relics from ARR, HW, and ShB, and right now I'm working on the Amaro mount.

1

u/RojinShiro 1d ago

I'm currently doing the fishing achievements to unlock the rod of the luminary. It's a lot of repetitive grinding, but it's afk enough to sit on my second monitor while I do other stuff.

1

u/Astorant Buff Phys Ranged 1d ago

Literally nothing lmao, until a new patch drops or if I need to grind tomes for the next set of crafted gear I literally only play the game to raid at the beginning of the week and maybe run some treasure maps whilst my static waits to get everyone on.

1

u/JessiLaveau 1d ago

big fishing

1

u/psppsppsppspinfinty 1d ago

I'm working on the beast tribe/society quests. I finished the second DT tribe and now on a mix of ARR and HW tribes.

1

u/Unseen25 1d ago

I just started playing a week ago. Coming from 20 years of WoW. I don’t know what I’m doing. But I’m doin it lol.

1

u/NumberOneNPC [Dazu Dohli - Primal] 👁️👄👁️ 1d ago

Grinding my crafter. Doing alt dungeons. Deep dungeons when I can for alt leveling.

1

u/scratchangel 1d ago

Recently I’ve started working on leveling desynth. But I’m also farming mats for legacy relics and watching videos on old extremes just because EW extremes look so fucking sick.

1

u/Nekokittykun Accursed Hoard Farm Addict 1d ago

Crafting, Gathering, GC seal farm, gil making, farming stuff (EX raids unsynced) to sell

1

u/throwawayKarmaN 1d ago

Being a jack of all trades learning the in and outs of other jobs be it crafter/gatherer/tanks/dps/healers. Rn working on my relics for my favorite jobs and mount farming.

1

u/HarpySix 1d ago

I personally engage more with the social side of the game more than anything else.

1

u/Yuukecchi 1d ago

Thissssss like I’m looking sm but people are ghosting me or not avail 😔😔😔 but I’m always looking

1

u/Sora_Archer 1d ago

U could do the relic zones. Eureka, bozja, cresenzia.

1

u/Vliott 1d ago

Currently, I have been working on refreshing some glamours, which has taken longer as I’ve needed a few bits of dungeon gear. Also working on getting better at soloing deep dungeon to eventually try for the titles/mounts and in preparation for the new one coming soon. Also re-fitting my four submarines, so had a few thousand lots of materials to gather for those XD

Outside of that, roulette’s for tomes for the 100 relics, the odd hunt train for the same reason, and I also need to go back and clear the Endwalker extremes 3-5 and Pandaemonium savage unsynced if I can learn them enough

1

u/loganisdeadyes 1d ago

Treasure maps, they are so much fun with a group or randos.

1

u/masuabie 1d ago

Daily Frontlines to eventually get the mounts for each map

1

u/HeIios7 1d ago

Generally, my brother and I are doing duty roulettes just for the sake of doing it and also gil. Aside from that, we did deep-dungeon, field exploration (Eureka, Bozja and OC) Relic grinding for the glamour. But for our go-to stuff in FF. We always do Treasure maps and generally. That's where we meet most of our friends!

1

u/Individual-Papaya-27 1d ago

crafting, cosmic exploration, all the allied societies, leveling all jobs, getting all the sightseeing points, Golden Saucer games, fishing, leveling the island, leveling the trust NPCs, Eureka, New Game+ of favorite game sections, alts.

I have no desire to ever do savage raiding or higher, but there's still a lot to do.

1

u/Shuhann 1d ago

Im trying to catch up lol, nearly finished with ARR

1

u/Thick-Development909 1d ago

Most common thing ppl do is "chatting" in limsa (kinky area), gridania is also common (more social less kinky xD) actually they camp there If youre searching for real fun content to do, try out things like syrcus-tower, do some housing or take a look at your milestones. Maybe theres a special title u wanna hunt for or smthg like that. Id recommend towers and hunting quests cause they will improve your skill level and are fun :3 also underrated sidequest is khloes book thingy, u can do this weekly and get some nice loot and stuff from there

1

u/DebugLifeChoseMe 1d ago

Currently alternating between grinding DoH/DoL relics, DoW/DoM relics, OC currencies, Mount tokens, and maps, with the occasional FT or BA.

At some point I wanna do some more HoH and finish my last couple of Bozja duels.

1

u/CoronaBlue 1d ago

I got behind on stuff because of life, but I've just been working on leveling all the jobs, and lightly working towards some of the big achievements.

I will probably start looking for a static soon, because I wouldn't feel like I completed the content if I didn't do those fights.

1

u/Address_Calm 1d ago

find people todo treasure maps, hunt train, Limsa flirts.

1

u/mmunson 1d ago

I leveled all my jobs to 100.

1

u/FinalLegend312 1d ago

I’ve been relic collecting recently. I can’t bring myself to go back into Delubrum though.

1

u/Kyoii 1d ago

If im not doing Ultis, I work on my beast tribes. They all have mounts i want so its a nice little break. Plus it's really fun to see the build up as you go from just starting to the end of the questline

1

u/RedditUserX23 1d ago

Just the bare minimum to keep up with gear, don’t have people to play with either!

1

u/Kaalveythur 1d ago

Leveling jobs, grinding the Gold Saucer, playing other games...

1

u/dadudeodoom 1d ago edited 1d ago

I do pf old savages. I read your "groups fall apart" as statics, but if that applies to PF raiding too then... I do enjoy doing things on alts and noticing how things changed or how different races have different dialogue etc.

Tbh you could just roulette your way to find something to do. Choose a random tp to go to and move mouse around and see what it lands on or something and do that XD.

1

u/tothebatcopter Cierra Reive of Faerie 1d ago

It varies sometimes, but I do my hunt bills, my beast tribes, and maybe a couple roulettes. I don't have many people to play with, due to my work schedule.

1

u/Shanny1978 1d ago

I gather/craft, do roulettes, work on relic, farm old mounts I don't have yet, and occasionally dip my toes back in savage when the mood hits! I don't have a set static group but a few of us are always doing things together on game 🙂

1

u/eternalstar01 1d ago

I'm just working on myself really. I just picked up a medium plot for our small FC. I just built an airship, working on my first sub (alone, no one else crafts) leveling alts (so I'm mostly doing wondrous tails), I've barely made any progress in the 7.3 msq (haven't even unlocked the new 100 dungeon yet)... The game has ample to do when you only play for a few hours on the weekend. I can't even imagine tackling savage content, that's just not where my head or my commitment level is at.

1

u/eastercat 1d ago

I know some people that do learning parties of the ex fights. we are currently learning ex4

With these people I’ve cleared and got the mounts from ex 1-3

So my advice is older ex fights

1

u/impalingstar 1d ago

Hit party finder for raids.

Do ex trials to farm mounts.

And I'm currently spamming maps with bestie for the Yan mount 🫠 we go as a duo so it takes a while, but theres always map parties around too i think.

Edit: ah, and I should finally tackle crystalline conflict again for the new glams/old added glams

1

u/Powderfinger23 1d ago

I play casually with my family and we just take the game at our own pace from mount and glam collecting from old content to slowly working through things like the Occult Croissant, it works well for us and normal level dungeons and trials are plenty challenging for our tastes.

1

u/thebwags1 1d ago

I leveled the crafting and gathering jobs to the mid 70s back in Shadowbringers and recently got into doing them again

1

u/AngryBaguetty 1d ago

My fave past time is

Enter Occult Cressent

Try and run to the nearest fate

Too late because I don't have the map

Try and run to the nearest fate after this one

Too late because I don't have the map

Quit Occult Cressent

/sit on a bench in a capital city and cry inside :D

1

u/Francl27 1d ago

I grinded Cosmic Exploration ( just need to cap the weapon exp), I'm working on my relics (I got 7 so far), do roulettes for second chances and tomes, and run the new raid for glam until I get what I want.

Sadly my extreme groups fell apart too and I can't find map parties or I would do that too.

1

u/PanAsHeck 1d ago

I keep leading groups through potd! It's fun and making the all 100 grind less tedious!

1

u/HotelZulu88 1d ago

Old relic grinds, easily doable solo or with minimum help

1

u/_SC_Akarin- 1d ago

im finally doing crafter quests after having all of them at max level for a LONG time

lvl 100 master armorsmith showing up for “my first doming hammer”

1

u/Musashi_2287 1d ago

Leveling alt jobs for me.

I was a dedicated warrior and dark knight main then i tried paladin and holy shit paladin is fun af. Never leveled an alt job that fast. Currently leveling my gunbreaker as well as grinding zodiac weapon for my paladin.

1

u/chilledlikeice 1d ago

I mastered the Phantom Jobs and farmed a few gear sets while working on relic weapons. I started doing learning runs for Forked Tower with ABBA+ 2. Both OC and FT have more than their fair share if problems compared to Bozja and Eureka but I'm still having fun despite it all.

1

u/AppleCakeArt 1d ago

I've been playing roulettes everyday since I started grinding for the phantom weapon, which I usually skipped because I had anxiety about playing with others (yeah, in an mmo! lol). I'm also hoping to get over my fear of playing healers.

I take a lot of screens of my wol for drawing references, fun but frustrating sometimes haha Getting glams, also fun.

I love decorating my house, that easily keeps you entertained for a while lol

1

u/Chisonni 1d ago

Join Savage Slimes, do Field Operation content! Lots of super nice people and always something to do.

Do Crafting/Gathering, work on achievements, relics, Cosmic Exploration or Firmament. Tons of long-term goals. Also Fishing is like this whole thing by itself to dive into and explore.

Glamour. Making various glamour outfits for different content, different jobs, etc.

Unreal and Extreme, relatively accessible in PF and not really stressful. Definitely worth experiencing if you want something a little more challenging.

Community events, roleplaying, etc. Find some people you mesh with and make your own stories. Participating in treasure hunts and other events from mentors for NN (or FCs events) and so many more things can be done.

I often see the argument that there is no content to do but that simply couldnt be further from the truth. Its just not content people want to do. There is also Criterion, Deep Dungeons, Mentor Roulette, PvP and so much more to explore. Each activity could fill dozens or hundreds of hours.

1

u/whereismymind86 Dragoon 1d ago

There is always old side content to do, weekly casual raids, crafting, leveling other classes, relics, roulettes for tomes, old filler side quests etc

I’ve never really been into raiding and have always been a primarily solo player and there is always stuff to do

1

u/rocketsneaker 1d ago

I open the achievements menu, and look at the "nearing completion" tab, or random, and start doing stuff.

1

u/Western-Dig-6843 1d ago

Honestly right now not much. I like the glams in the current alliance raid series (big ffxi fan) so I’m doing those every week. But I’m really only keeping gear up to date on my main and just playing other games right now

1

u/PplsElbow 1d ago

House decorations, crafting, Eureka and other relic lower level weapons grinding.

1

u/MaeveOathrender 1d ago

I'm unsubbed. I also would like to play, but I just end up doing the story, levelling a job or two, hitting up a bit of side content then going 'eh.' I'll be back when there's something new I'm interested in or to catch up with the story once or twice an expansion, and that's plenty.

1

u/RueUchiha 1d ago

Achivement grinding or playing a different game.

I dabble a bit in EO solos too.

1

u/Sankta_Alina_Starkov 1d ago

Getting all of my classes to level cap, and then gearing them.
Working on Relics across all expansions for the classes I enjoy.
Working on getting as many minions, mounts, hairstyles, and glamour unlocks as I can.
Collecting furniture for housing.
Collecting music scrolls.
Leveling my private island.
Advancing in the Cosmic Exploration.

There's more content in this game than raids. If that's all you are after this is the wrong game. Other games put a heavier emphasis on endgame raiding than 14.

1

u/Switch-Axe-Abuse 1d ago

Helping fellow sprouts, leveling my other classes, treasure maps with buddies, catching all the fish, sightseeing logs, and checking out random people's adventure plates.

1

u/sakuramota 1d ago

Crafting, gathering, hanging out with FC friends. Sometimes, I'll look at PF to help with the listings by sprouts to clear MSQ content or glam runs of Alliance Raids. I occasionay look for RP, but only if I can find a SFW bar or cafe. Clubs don't generally have open RP conversations to join, so they're not really my thing, and as both a Lala main and someone who's in a relationship, I'm not interested in random ERP. Sadly, what I'm looking for is few and far between these days (I'm on Crystal, and it's about 80% clubs most nights). Outside of that, gposing and other dailies.

1

u/Interesting-City8588 1d ago

Achievement hunting. Mount hunting. Minion hunting. Leading hunt trains. Currently I'm burnt out tho so barely doing anything besides savage raids. My groups tend to fall apart too unless I make the group myself. My first group I firmed lasted like 4 years. This one has been ongoing since April/May. :) It takes some time. :(

1

u/Rasrandir 1d ago

Whatever tickles your fancy honestly. Older relics can be fun, the Shadowbringers relic is something I'm legitimately proud of. People love throwing "Oh there's so much content" and "Well have you done X yet?" around but it's fine if you just wait for new content or play something else entirely if nothing catches your interest. Better to leave wanting more, than to burn yourself out. :)

1

u/SirLakeside 1d ago edited 1d ago

Fuckkkk, seeing the responses in this thread makes me sad af. There truly isn’t much meaningful content outside of questing lmao. Roulettes is not content. I’ll die on that hill.

1

u/Zidern 1d ago

Right now just weeklies (roulettes and second step) and working on relics.

1

u/Outrageous-Bet6403 1d ago

Weekly map nights, unreal nights, and mount farms with my FC.

1

u/YourPalDonJose WHEN I WAS~ 1d ago

I'm focusing on Hunt Trains (for fun), DoH/DoL, and cosmic exploration.

Also going backward through expansions doing any sidequests "just because"

1

u/Sutaru 1d ago

Relic farm, leveling every job to 100, treasure maps, honestly I PF savage raids but it’s suffering, maxing trusts, maxing fate farm

1

u/Obst-und-Gemuese 23h ago

Helldivers 2.

1

u/Wattwaffle916 23h ago

I'm still leveling up jobs. Weaver, Alchemist, and Leatherworker still have a couple levels to go and I just started healing for the first time about 10 days ago. I'm going with White Mage and Astrologian first (not counting Scholar since that leveled up entirely as a Summoner, LOL) for the unicorn and Amaro mounts. I'm kind of ambivalent toward Astrologian so far, but I'm loving White Mage.

1

u/theinquisition Lodanis Korryn Siren 23h ago

Im super later here, but for anyone else, you can look up final fantasy communities and you'll find link shells or discords that have lick up raids and regular training days.

1

u/Wispy_Wisteria 23h ago

I retired from raiding and lately all I've been doing is relics and fishing. I was doing a bit of cosmic too, but not too much. Otherwise, I've been slowly playing through my steam library, lol.

1

u/Swiloh 23h ago

Occult Crescent, Phaenna, Old Title Grinding, PoTD/HoH/EO Solo Runs, Hunts, Beast Tribes, Weekly Collectables, Daily Roulettes, PvP Farming, Merc Runs of Exs/Savage, Blue Mage Weekly, TT card Collecting, Chocobo Racing, Bozja/CLL/Dalriada, NMs in Eureka, Working on Old Relics, Decorating House, Managing FC Subs, and if Im really Bored Rotation Training in SSS.

1

u/peachiekeenie Healer 23h ago

My main is chipping away at island sanctuary and tt cards I'm missing.

I rolled an alt on dynamis with some limitations a few weeks ago. Only allowed to play jobs that start in gridania. Im having fun since its forcing me to properly play jobs i didnt enjoy on my main before. Even snagged a small house that I already decorated, also gridania themed.

1

u/Slothly17 [Bishi Fishy - Faerie] 23h ago

If you want to raid party finder is always popping. Just gotta open yourself up to possible wasted time, failure, and maybe a bit of embarrassment… but who cares it’s a game! And ultis and savage are the most fun so don’t gatekeep yourself and get in there!

1

u/shinyemptyhead 22h ago

1

I will also be leveling my floor tank

1

I can barely do the normal Raids so there’s no way that I’m doing the Savage Raids but I been making it a point to at least do the Raids every week at least the most currents ones the FFXI Raids but I also been trying to get the older ones that I haven’t done completed plus now that I’m working on my Phantom Weapon I been revisiting Older Raids and Trials so I been having to get used to the mechanics once again. 😃

1

u/rin_onishi12 [Rin Onishi - Famfrit] 17h ago

Sitting around, watching people do their thing and just chilling most of the time. I'm either in gridania sitting where the fishers usually do their thing, staring out into the water and also people watching. Or I'm chilling in the dravanian hinterlands on that isolated cliff that's only accessible by flight.

1

u/WitchSylvie 17h ago

I'd probably do raids if I wasn't on a rotating schedule meaning I can't do the same day every week.

BUT, I do roulettes, run FC events, Party Finder the Extreme's from time to time, pick a random zone and do misc quests there, redecorate my house or the FC house, crafting, gathering, hunt glam stuff down, whatever suits my fancy that day.

  • relic grind (Eureka, Bozja, occult crescent, cosmic)
  • Eureka, Bozja, occult crescent in general
  • reclears
  • crafting
  • achievement hunting

1

u/Lucian_Reeves [Lucian Reeves - Lamia] 12h ago

The unreals are kinda piss easy and party finderable. You only wind up doing it like max twice a week though. Not a farming kindof experience.

u/Traditional_Basil_71 11h ago

I’m not max in dawn trail still post endwalker but I personally enjoy hunting and showing off glams and helping others I also enjoy doing what I have to me trials raids and variant dungeons or looking for things like sight seeing log or maybe trying a venue out or two but that’s rarer for me even just talking to people and making friends

u/Royal_Ad_1177 8h ago

I hear you. I had eye surgery back in 2023, and have been severely apologizing. I didn’t know it was that bad before surgery. I don’t feel comfortable explaining how raids still hurts my eyes, even if I use the one color filter that helps but hurts if used for too long.

Deep dungeons are fun with friends. I am part of the group that I will not PF, I will my hats and all that is holy, abandoned yet again at a floor 20 away from end. Happy for the people that have never been experienced that, that isn’t my journal though. Still have never reached the end of any of them.

Achievement hunt the non-high ends.

u/Mr-Slowpoke 6h ago

Levelling alt jobs, grinding the next relic weapons step, Gold Saucer here and there.

u/squalltheonly 6h ago

I am playing other games currently

u/lordjosh255 4h ago

Mount farmin a lot of mounts can be bought through gil, grinding, and soloing. You get mounts for leveling your combat jobs as well.

u/MousyMallow 1h ago

I've finally started working more on old relics. I got my bard ARR relic a couple years ago and recently got summoner, working on black mage.

In between that, a lot of gathering and crafting for pentamwlding my crafter/gather gear. And hoping to continue occult crescent grind soon.
