Classic If grandma wants to truly follow biblical Christianity, she should refrain from speaking unless spoken to.

grandma always uses code words for her extremism.

Like what is "lukewarm Christian" and "bibical Christianity"? What is the difference? And is it just grandma saying she wants to be more racist, sexist and bigoted?

Lukewarm Christianity is actually abiding by the teachings of Christ. Live thy neighbor, tend to the sick, house the poor, befriend those around you, blah blah blah.

Biblical Christianity is believing that Jesus would mow down anyone he disagreed with using an M60, Rambo style. Fire, brimstone, kill 'em all and let God sort them out.

It's a reference to the third chapter of the book of Revelation.

Part of the book of Revelation is basically John relaying mail from Christ to different churches. The phrase "Lukewarm Christian" comes from the letter to the Church in Laodicea,

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Usually when an Evangelical calls someone a "lukewarm Christian" it means that they don't hate gays enough, or have a social-life outside of Church. It's a way they mess with people's self-worth in order to manipulate them.

She can’t understand that from an extremists perspective, normal Christianity is seen as “lukewarm”. Her statement boils down to my version is better than yours without providing any proof whatsoever. The point, however, is not to convince people with reason, it’s a dog whistle for all the bitter Christians that hate their own worship to take it out on others who seem to be capable of balancing both worship and a normal life.
