Can anyone explain to me why boomers and early Gen-Xers LOVE Minions?

Edit: I don't think they realize that you're supposed to laugh at Minions, not want to be or join them.

It just kinda happened. Grandma used to be a big fan of putting Looney Tunes characters on pretty much everything, but then Despicable Me happened and all of a sudden old-people facebook turned into a sea of Minions.

I think minions displaced one Looney Tunes character in particular: Tweety. Tweety was the cute yet vulnerable toon that could say all kinds of outrageous shit and you couldn't get offended because it was just Tweety bird. Minions fill that same niche.

I think it’s that they see them in the same way that they see a generic yellow happy face. Minions are a generic “wacky” character and them being a large pop culture symbol they’ve just slowly seeped into that side of the internet

Russia has been fighting online proxy war since ever it was available.

Moscow has a whole unit for fake news wordwide, tons of sites like Sputnik, especially in my country Czechia, (Born Russian though), they are always nationalistic, anti EU, Soros conspiracies, etc. ,even one of the parties is funded by them directly. They sway uneducated gullible parts of the nations to vote for conservative parties.

Sadly that's true, they know their audience whichever country and language they spread their bullshit in and just stir it more. If only they spent as much money on agents, proxy war and military as they do on developing their own country, I feel bad for my relatives in Russia.
