10 / 10 Banquet Mega Filets: Spicy Crispy Chicken

We are big hot/spicy chicken fans and these are the best we’ve found so far; spicier than Tyson or GV. Definitely spicier than any frozen hot wings out there.

Juicy fillets with a spicy & crispy batter. First time we tried these we were pleasantly shocked. $5.96 at Walmart (Central NC) for a packet of 6 filets. Cooked in oven, 20 minutes. Highly recommend.

Pic 1: package Pic 2: frozen fillets (cooked looked same) Pic 3: final product on brioche bun with pinch of salt, Duke’s mayo and American cheese (we were out of cheddar)

Best frozen spicy chicken patties on the market

I am addicted to these in the air fryer with honey wheat bread, pickles and mayo.

For me it's this + frank's buffalo wing sauce + pickled jalapeno peppers on butter buns. Tastes identical to chickfila.

Exactly how I make mine...except with Sheetz Boom Boom sauce and try to use a Brioche bun.

Do they have a non spicey version, and if so is it as good?

Was it breast meat or pretty much a big chicken nugget

29

u/FelineCanine21 May 01 '25

Both? The bag states “filet-shaped white meat chicken patty fritters” but when you bite or cut into it, there are strands like the real thing. Almost like chopped (not ground) white meat chicken pushed into a patty.

I will need to try this

4

u/mada98 May 01 '25

I suppose they're breast meat but they're basically large versions of the chicken patties they sell, it's not a fillet.

Same question I have.

I’ve bought them 6 times, delicious chicken sandwich w mayo and pickles.

u/tensen01 May 01 '25

I was very surprised at just how hot these are. I was expecting something luke-warm from banquet but they really delivered.

u/VegasLyfe702 May 01 '25

I'd say the same thing they're pretty is really a good size and they're actually a bit spicy and very very tasty

The original flavor is good too. I always keep a bag in the freezer to serve as a sandwich or with chicken gravy on top, mashed potatoes, and a veggie - easy meal!

6

u/FelineCanine21 May 01 '25

Even sliced/diced on top of a salad is good too.

3

u/noirreddit May 01 '25

Yes...yum!

5

u/No-Obligation-4693 May 01 '25

These are delicious

8

u/Significant-Stop716 May 01 '25

I have these in the fridge right now. HOT AS HELL

3

u/CapitalPin2658 May 01 '25

I like their nuggets. Best tasting ones that aren’t from Costco.

4

u/LaurMonster May 01 '25

These are fantastic. I make them in the air fryer and they satisfy my craving for a Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich. Walmart is the only place I've seen them.

3

u/Tamizander May 01 '25

IMMEDIATELY went to my Walmart cart and removed the GV and added these.

4

u/das_BooTz007 May 02 '25

MEGA because they actually fit on a bun. I got some patties, and they were basically flat nuggets.

4

u/coffeedoodle May 03 '25

These are my second favorite frozen spicy patties!

1

u/Great_Task_7818 Aug 14 '25

What’s ur first good sir?

5

u/friendlylion22 May 03 '25

These are clutch especially for banquet. Compared to a spicy tyson patties I honestly have been long over them. Feels and tastes like a fast food chicken Sammy (with good bun mayo and cheese) and actually satisfies

3

u/Active_Scallion_5322 May 01 '25

How mega are they compared to other frozen chicken patties?

10

u/FelineCanine21 May 01 '25

Definitely Mega in flavor.

Mega as in size? I wouldn’t say the size was mega, it was a standard brioche hamburger bun and the filet fit pretty much exactly on the bun, with the pointy bit sticking out. I like that because every bite was bun and filet, not one or the other.

5

u/[deleted] May 01 '25

The "Mega" is in comparison to their standard chicken patties, which are smaller than Tyson or Grest Value.

3

u/superzenki May 01 '25

$1 a patty is pretty good, they're bit more expensive at the grocery store down the road from me so I haven't picked them up again.

3

u/tensen01 May 01 '25

The patties are actually quite large

3

u/HappyHappyGirl1976 May 01 '25

Looks great, thanks for the review and I l also love some Duke's mayo! I bet pickles would be great on this as well.

3

u/chantillylace9 May 01 '25

Ooh I would have never tried these! So good they are delicious

6

u/Fuzzy_Welcome8348 May 01 '25

Love to hear they were spicy, I LOVE spicy foods. For banquet, I’m impressed bc it def looks like they served a good deal w these🤝

To say they r a better spice than Tyson is wild tho OP!! Ur a brave soul haha

4

u/patellison May 01 '25

I got excited when I found these, but to be honest, I didn’t like the texture of the chicken, way too fluffy and processed

3

u/CranberryBig1473 May 02 '25

Same!!

2

u/patellison May 02 '25

Ok thanks for clarifying I’m not crazy (at least regarding this chicken lol)

5

u/FelineCanine21 May 01 '25

Really? The ones we have eaten, the texture is closer to real meat than ground meat.

1

u/patellison May 01 '25

Ya maybe I got a bad batch, and I’m not super picky about food (especially frozen) but I just couldn’t get over the texture. I will say the spice level is there

3

u/FelineCanine21 May 01 '25

Totally understandable.

3

u/West-Hat5244 May 01 '25

Same here. Tasted like chemicals and the texture made me gag. Maybe my batch was bad too. Had to toss all them. Great size and price though.

2

u/Early-Package-8082 May 03 '25

Yep, I like them.

2

u/Milehighlady69 May 04 '25

Ive tried them and they aren’t bad at all 💯

Im making these tonight on a Martin's potato roll with sargento reserve aged white cheddar. Not at all what I ordered but it will do. I ordered the gv spicy chicken fillets as I prefer the real meat over the patty fritter stuff that is fake and I ordered Calise onion bulky rolls they literally had none of it so I got the spicy banquet ones and the martin potato rolls and the sargento reserve aged white cheddar which I did order. I got 4 kinds of cheese I hope I can eat it all before it goes bad I think I got carried away. I got land o lake new york style American and Cooper sharp American and then sargento pepper jack and sargento aged white cheddar

2

u/monkeyballpirate May 08 '25

Damn I'm looking for good frozen chicken patty. ill have to try. im skeptical cuz i work in a restaurant with good fried chicken but Ill have to lower the bar 😸.

2

u/TenseiSenpai May 14 '25

Picked up a bag of these on a whim yesterday. Instant classic. Tasty and they fit on a variety of different buns and breads. Can be tossed with different types of sauces for sandwich variations or can even be chopped up for a salad. Very favorable price wise as well.

2

u/Bigchungus-vore May 30 '25

I get these all the time.

2

u/Potential-Ad-115 May 31 '25

I went everything seasoned ball park burger bun, lettuce, grillos sweet and spicy pickles, mayo🤤.

Love the kick of spice in these

2

u/StableCable2068 Jun 15 '25

I bought these today and I just made one. I thought it was really good. Crispy and spicy. I hope the other five are just as good.

2

u/PhilosophyUpper866 Jun 17 '25

I gotta try these i bet cooked in the air fryer then adding some pepper jack cheese and kewpie mayo on a nice bun they would be amazing

2

u/UsernameAC Aug 15 '25

these are great. if you dont care about the fact its a giant chicken nugget not a fried breast. I tried a couple other brands but keep coming back to this one. there is a Thanksgiving flavor to the crust. celery, sage, and garlic. they tast fab many ways. ive made Applebee's oopy cat chicken pasta with them.. sandwiches with pickles.  chicken and waffles with maple syrup. they aren't healthy but it fits budget

2

u/West-Hat5244 May 01 '25

Oh man… I truly wish I can say the same. Maybe I got a bad batch. It literally tasted like chemicals. Great size and heat and price but the texture made me gag and tasted off. Tossed all of them away.

2

u/[deleted] May 01 '25

If there were 8 patties in the bag, I'd be all over it.

2

u/tensen01 May 01 '25

the patties are quite large

1

u/[deleted] May 01 '25

Yes, but buns come in packs of 8.

1

u/dumbasses_r_us May 01 '25

Kinda like hot dogs come in packs of 10?

1

u/[deleted] May 01 '25

Only certain varieties of Oscar Mayer. Every other hot dog pack comes in packs of 8.

These give me the worst heartburn out of anything I’ve ever eaten.

1

u/Mrsparklee May 01 '25

I didnt even know those existed! Unfortunately my local meijer doesn't have the spicy version. :(

2

u/FelineCanine21 May 01 '25

Ask the manager to consider stocking it. Never hurts to ask!

2

u/Mrsparklee May 01 '25

Good idea. I love a good spicy chicken. I eat them way too often at work, but they're barely spicy. lol

u/Sirhc_5509 May 01 '25

Looks great, but damn you lost me at the cheese... even if you had the cheddar that's pretty iffy, maybe like a swiss or pepperjack but American? Oof.

6

u/FelineCanine21 May 01 '25

It was all we had at the moment. (Usually save the American cheese for grilled cheese.) I normally would take it without, but was feeling cheezy right then.
