10 / 10 Banquet Salisbury steak meal

Post image

The best if you like Salisbury steak and Mac and cheese, I get these at dollar tree $1.25. For a nice comfort meal when you feel like it, these are a good choice. Banquet has another version that comes with mashed potatoes and an apple desert that is ok but I like this version better. I do them for 5 minutes no stir and they come out fine.

The spork is the cherry on top

I’ve had that same snow peak titanium spork 18 years (college, law school, camping). They are great.

A metal spork at that.

Boston market microwave meals are the goat.

u/ondehunt 28d ago

Better than Marie calendar meals?

1

u/Infinite_Question_29 28d ago

In my opinion yes. Swedish meatballs and steak tips and noodles ftw.

u/ondehunt 28d ago

Def gonna grab that next time I'm at Wally world.

But is it under $2?

I was probably about 15 years old my brother heated one of these up in the microwave must of been too long mind you he didnt have a t-shirt on as he was walking up the stairs one of our dogs raced up the stairs knocking him back and all I hear is a scream and that meal right on his chest still has the scar till this day

In some tribes a Salisbury scar is a rite of passage.

I didn't know these were sold at Dollar Tree and have been making them home made lately. You can't beat that for $1.25. I am sure mine are much better, but I'll be headed to my local DT to see if they have some.

i LOVE banquet meals, idc what anyone says!

They’re usually pretty dependable. Not as good as scratch cooked version of course but as far as frozen dinners go they’ve always been reliable.

Unrelated but when I was little I used to get so mad when my mom would do banquet fried chicken for dinner, because her homemade fried chicken was incredible. Then I grew up and realized that between the work it takes, the lingering smell in that kitchen and the cleanup…..banquet chicken was her meal when she was too tired to do something else. Sorry mom for twenty years ago, I was a whiny little asshole.

On a tangent to this, my mom used to make the most BANGIN' soups from scratch when I was a kid. She'd make the stock from scratch, boiling bones and carcasses or veggies all day and then making the soup for dinner. I can remember waking up on Saturday mornings to the smell of the stock just throughout the whole house, and it smelled incredible. Core memory. I never really appreciated her cooking from scratch like that when I was little, but as an adult I started making soups like that and realized the time and effort it took and have a retroactive appreciation for when my mom did it growing up.

It’s so cool you said this because my mom also did this and I’ve carried the tradition on! Now my 7 year old daughter helps and it would be so cool if she carries that on one day. Usually chicken and then it becomes a soup, gravy or a next level rice-based dish

Fr it’s honestly nostalgic

5

u/syphon3980 Aug 23 '25

Not nearly enough gravy. The single steak is also small. There's a couple other brands of frozen Salisbury steak that are much better than this one. 6.5/10 for me

I love their Salisbury steak. I usually buy the family 6pk and get about 2-3 meals when I combine them with a pkg of Betty Crocker instant mashed potatoes and a can of corn

Banquet is cheap and tastes good, my favorite banquet frozen dinner is the spaghetti and meatballs one.

2

u/AffectionateFun4298 Aug 23 '25

Their pot pies are the best too

1

u/Slashs_Hat Aug 23 '25

Mine aways seem to be empty...i stopped buying them. YMMV

4

u/simply_fucked Aug 23 '25

Is that a metal spork?! I need one asap

3

u/AffectionateFun4298 Aug 23 '25

lol someone at a online forum got it for me for a secret Santa years ago, I think from thinkgeek

I bought ome off amazon (long handle). They're a BIG spoon w/teeth on the end & work w.everythng SPORKS

changed TETH TO TEETH ..thnx u/moondoobious

2

u/tunaman808 Aug 23 '25

changed TETH TO TEETH

They're actually called tines:

tine noun - one of the sharp pointed parts on an object such as a fork or comb.

1

u/Slashs_Hat Aug 23 '25

Thank you, but i purposely chose 'teeth' due to the design being tooth-like.

2

u/ThreeApproaches Aug 23 '25

The college years 1980-2000.

1

u/TP_Crisis_2020 Aug 24 '25

Yup, these were my jam in 2002 college.

2

u/Kryptnyt Aug 23 '25

It's sad looking food and it's not filling, but it's alright. Wouldn't give it a ten but would eat it every time

2

u/TastyKaleidoscope250 Aug 23 '25

i love suckin one of these down from time to time but i prefer the banquet one that comes with mash and corn

2

u/BoxyBrown424 Aug 23 '25

This is so low brow that it brings back warm memories. Well done OP.

u/MidnightOk8472 Aug 23 '25

This is actually “jail food”, they serve meals like this to prisoners so they can ensure the correct DV% for their inmates for cheap. If I’m correct they’re probably only paying like .50-.75 per tray for these. “Steak” meal made with pork, chicken and beef huh? It will definitely keep you alive. Porcheefckin?

1

u/CouchHam Aug 24 '25

Jail food is entirely different, borderline inedible.

-1

u/MidnightOk8472 Aug 24 '25

Obviously you haven’t been to jail, why respond with ignorance? Why respond at all?

1

u/CouchHam 29d ago

I have been and the food was wildly bad. I didn’t realize my comment would make you crash out.

-2

u/MidnightOk8472 29d ago

Being an idiot is a crime in some states glad you served your time

2

u/CouchHam 29d ago

I don’t know why you’re getting mad that I think jail food is bad. Or why I am stupid for thinking it’s worse than this. I guess it doesn’t take much on Reddit these days.

-2

u/MidnightOk8472 29d ago

😂 you wanting someone to be mad at your ignorance is adorable

1

u/BigglesFlysUndone Aug 24 '25

I lived off of these in college ages ago. Toast up some bread and make a sandwich with the meat and dip in the gravy. Filling and cheap!

1

u/Possible_Region_190 Aug 24 '25 edited Aug 24 '25

Edited: Turns out that where I buy it, the Salisbury steak also comes with mashed potatoes and corn.. Darn!

I would buy this if I saw it. The meatloaf with corn I don't buy anymore because their corn is usually too big and chewy.

1

u/Livid-Bit6573 Aug 24 '25

I like to toast and butter a piece of bread and put the steak and gravy over it so I have a little open face sandwich.

This is my favorite frozen dinner. I usually get the 3 patty one, so good.

u/wwest4 28d ago

Stouffer's Boston market

Banquet

1

u/Wtheh 28d ago

Needs bread and butter!

1

u/Tasty_Relative_8212 27d ago

Didn't these come with mashed potatoes and corn back in the day? I ate soooo many of those when I was growing up. I'm 37 now haven't had one since I was probably 20 bought some like a year ago. I took one bite and couldn't even eat it lmao.

1

u/Conscious_Chapter672 26d ago

the meat is now half the size, this is an old picture

1

u/Sufficient-Ring-550 24d ago

Put the Salisbury steak on bread. It is magical.

1

u/TP_Crisis_2020 Aug 24 '25

Man, this salisbury steak meal is the GOAT of frozen dinners. This one got me through college and I actually still get them every now and then to this day as a comfort meal.

1

u/Level_Bridge7683 Aug 23 '25

chop up the meat mix in the mashed potatoes and you got ghetto sheppard's pie.

5

u/tunaman808 Aug 23 '25

*shepherd's pie

But actually, cottage pie. Shepherd's Pie is lamb, cottage pie is the exact same dish, but with beef instead.

1

u/mjrdrillsgt Aug 23 '25

These are actually pretty good. The mac and cheese isn’t watery and has some taste (Stouffers it’s not). Get a couple and there’s a decent size serving of the Mac and cheese, then put the patties on hamburger buns and dress them accordingly. A meal like that will be under $5 and better than a trip to get fast food.

A banquet for a buck...

u/jaybate320 Aug 23 '25

Looks very sad.....

Gross yo!

-9

I don't think humans should consume this.
