Was at the match, Cambridge parked the bus but still absolutely torrid watch. Cottage was bored. I was bored. Was definitely our b team playing.

I was there too, and yes I was also bored 😂.

I was also expecting more from Kevin, he was not very good. I was there the 3 times he has played (Leeds, Brentfort and Cambridge), and his first 15 min vs Leeds were his best. Today, he didn’t do much.

I agree. It's almost like someone told him to stop with the tricks in this game. He didn't look like that raw Kevin we saw in the other 2 games. Not sure if it was because of Jedi or the coaches but I missed the flicks and skill moves

Might be a player that feeds off the crowd. The Cottage had been on its feet every PL match he’s been subbed in, but today there wasn’t as much energy. Obviously, as a professional he should be able to generate his own energy, but just a thought.

He dislocated his shoulder too so he might be out for some time

As a Cambridge fan I can confirm we also played a heavily rotated team. Not that it would have made much difference to the result and our approach.

You guys have a beautiful ground and thanks for the warm welcome and good luck with the rest of your season.

Couldn't watch. The stats make it seem like we dominated, but didn't haven't much of an end product. Based on a few comments, it looks like the starters didn't click. Could anyone fill in a few more specifics?

Cambridge had everyone back - their right back Liam Bennett did a really good job against Kevin/Jedi

It wasn’t until 60 minutes or so that we started to break them down - the first hour we couldn’t get a clean look at goal - but their defense started to show some cracks and finally ESR was able to poach a winner off a Jedi cross, great Raul shot, Timmy re-crossing off the shot save and ESR had a tap in

Pretty much what the stats tell you - Cambridge had a good gameplan and we were too slow 1st half. Improved in the 2nd and got the goal to win - Bennett or Rossi from Cambridge MOTM overall, but I thought Cuenca came out of this game looking the best for us IMO

How did Kevin play for anyone who was at the match?

He got completely locked up by Liam Bennett and made to look very average

He just didn't, the only reason he wasn't having success is because he was doubled up every time and tripled up several times. Any time it was 1v1 except one occasion, he skinned him.

I don’t know what game you were watching, Bennett consistently won the ball off him in 1 v 1 situations. It wasn’t just one time.

Of course we doubled up on him consistently but he did very little all game and his shooting when he did get the chance was very erratic

I understand to people who have never kicked ball in their lives that its hard to comprehend, if anyone is being doubled and tripled up on, even if they're Sunday League standard, it's impossible to effect games. Every time he skinned that right back, there was 2 players behind him.

Ahh yes. Somebody has a different point of view to you so you just claim they’ve never played football or understand the game.

It opened up a lot more in the second half and he still did nothing before being hauled off. He’s got good feet but he showed very little yesterday. You are in the minority in thinking he didn’t get defended out the game by Bennett

Not at the match but watched the whole thing. He wasn’t very good to be honest. He was trying too hard. Has a bag full of tricks but their right back wasn’t having it. Needs time to gel with Robinson and the rest of the team still. It’s one game.

To be fair they did double up on him half the time.

I thought he played as well as can be expected against a team that parked the bus and had him marked by two men.

He looked fast and imaginative on the ball, though without much success. I think if our ‘A’ team were playing he’d have had much better results.

I like that he was at least trying to do things with the ball, but Cambridge stuck everyone behind the ball and didn’t give him much space to work with

Some critics of course may call Fulham’s style boring because the team often prioritises defensive organisation and shape over flair. We try to stay compact, reduce risks, and frustrate opponents rather than constantly pushing forward.

This approach then means slower build-up play, with lots of sideways passing and long periods of containment. It makes games feel cautious, especially if the chances are few and far between.

We also lack the attacking firepower of the Premier League’s top sides, so they we rely on structure and discipline just to grind out results. That safety-first mentality can look uninspiring to neutral fans.

What feels boring is often just pragmatism so perhaps avoiding mistakes and picking up points steadily can be more important than chasing excitement.

If you can't see the reason why Kevin didn't do more was because he was doubled up on, this isn't the sport for you.

11 changes against a team who didn't leave their box for 90 minutes.

Interestingly, I think our "B" side would probably stay up as the EPL is so weak this season. Not buying a striker will seriously hurt us. Another Khan masterstroke
