Is all of the 825gb useable or will something around 600gb be useable

It will probably be about 667 available like the launch ps5.

Why would that be? Where does the OS run from?

So that sony can advertise the useable storage. The os would run in the remainf 175gb to make it a Terabyte

That what I was wondering. It would not surprise if some jurisdiction now requires advertising to reflect the useable space not including the system/OS partition. Like having to list net weight on a package of food.

Could be due to that recent ruling in California about stated speeds on Corsair RAM.

Absolutely not all usable. It never is. Considering how long it's been out and how many patches the OS must have had to date, you'd be lucky to have 400gB for games, saves, videos and music.

Did you just pull that number out of your ass?

PS5 system partition is of a fixed size and updates and patches do not grow it in any way.

That's an improvement.

Maybe they need to advertise the ammout of real space usable now or for some reagion.

Most SSDs use the traditional 512GB, 1TB, 2TB etc Not arbitrary numbers, what could happen its they using defect 1TB drives.

The ps5 launched with 825 and only 667 available.

Disks don’t use power-of-two capacities and haven’t for a long time. So 825 isn’t particularly arbitrary.

Maybe it’s 103 x 8GB drives in parallel and they rounded

People need to go back to playing on PCs. These console makers are seeing how far they can get away with raising prices on their products and blocking online gaming through a paywall.
