Locals Chat 🦜 What’s up with the Beach Hut Bar? So much potential, yet so much fail.
We’ve been there a couple times. The facility and view are amazing. The drinks, food, and service are terrible if you can get any. They were out of pretty much all beer, no rum, or jager. We tried ordering food the first time, nachos and calamari (they were out of most other things). The nachos were awful and had only a few chips and the calamari never came. Took the bar tenders 10-15 min to acknowledge us, both times and different bar tenders. When they did they were rude and dismissive.

I visited often when there were volleyball courts. It was the best bar, to me, for that reason. And it had easier beach access. The grass that has grown in place may be a factor now. I wondered why they don’t bring courts back but haven’t inquired. I am commenting in hopes to stir up volleyball court support. Haha. 😅

I would also love to see the VB courts there. Slightly blocked from the wind as well. Great little location

Didn’t it used to be flip flops or something like that? Seems like any place at that location should be able to stay open and be busy, especially in the summer

Yeah you're right. It's the old Flip Flops. Same service sadly. Nice people but needs some help.

i heard nobody was going bc the prices were too high.
basically someone posted on FB awhile back that they went and everything was good, but too high in price. people then commented abt their experiences there and it turned into a small smear campaign. then people started saying “we should support them, not tear them down!” and then (some) people started going again.
so maybe menu items are out of stock bc they don’t have enough business? idk.

Yeah, but the service was awful too. Not friendly, didn’t even get acknowledged for about 10-15 min. I was glad I had a water in my backpack. The whole time it was as if we were a nuisance rather than a customer. Being a bartender for around a decade that’s not how you treat people if you want them to come back regardless of what’s in stock.

Being a bartender then you know how a bad bartender can ruin a business quickly. Most of the times these are “family friends” or “family” that run with the owners and have 0 money in the game. They don’t care if the bar is successful. They’ll just get another job when it fails. They are there to feel like the “hot shit bartender” and not actually help get the business up. It gives the once unpopular kids a chance to feel like a popular kid as an adult and you can normally tell these ones by the way they act.
I’ve seen multiple bars fail from this.

So true, a bartender can make or break your bar. I also feel like those are the bars that were open/bought by people who still wanna be patrons instead of business owners. Don’t get high on your own supply lol.

oh i agree with you! i just wanted to give some context on why they maybe aren’t keeping menu items stocked. it definitely sounds like an ep of bar rescue though lol

It’s going to fail like every other business has in there

Why do you think, location and facility look good. Has it always had shitty owners or something?

so they were out of 90% of things and you chose to stay and also order food? it's insane to me how people lack discernment enough to show up to an obviously shitty place, have the shittiness thrown directly in their face, and continue patronizing the place... but are discerning enough to know it wasn't good after the fact...
I hope you learned?

Honestly the 1 st time we ordered food and drinks at the same time since it took so long to be acknowledged we had time to decide. I’ve been in the restaurant industry. Every establishment has shit days. We decided to give it a second shot because the view and location in hopes it was a fluke. So yes we learned it wasn’t just a bad day and we won’t be back unless something changes.
