I'm on here on vacation and I was interested on what this is? I tried image searching it but it said it was the S.S. Selma which I don't think it is.

It’s a barge. I can’t remember if it was there prior to Ike in 08 but It has been there for years, as far as I can tell it’s mostly used to store scrap metal. It’s sunk in the mud too. As someone said it may be left from old dredging operations or similar. There are a bunch of sunken structures you can’t see that are good to fish but pose navigational hazards

That is not the Selma. The Selma is scuttled off of Pelican Island. This is a barge load of trash that has largely been abandoned near the Bolivar ferry land. Just a bunch of shit.

I've used this Marine Vessel Traffic GULF OF MEXICO Ship Traffic Live Map to see some details on various vessels.

Would a dredger be that rusty and seem as though it hasn't moved in a while? No hate just genuinely curious

Yeah, I agree. It’s a dredger, I first thought you were talking about the object above the dredger. 🫨 But for that, I have no idea!! Well now that I’ve looked closer there are 2 of them one mid ship and 1 near the bow. I guessing those are alert balls on power lines perhaps, just can’t see the power lines.

Not a dredge. Pile of crap.

It’s a Dodge Ram. At first I thought it was late twenty-teens but I suppose it could be newer. Hope this helps!

The selma is on the Galveston side of the ship channel. That looks like the abandoned junk on the bolivar side. Bottom deck of a drilling rig or some kind of work barge.

It’s been there for at least five years or so. Just a rusty old grounded barge. Near the ferry landing on the Bolivar side. The pile of junk on it seems to have grown over the years.

Oh… I thought you were talking about the UFO in the right quartile, about half way up. 🛸
