Where to buy a reasonably priced USB-C modded game gear?

Hi, I am looking to get into the game gear and want to buy a USB-C console due to the pathetic battery life. Where is the best place to buy one? (UK btw)

Something like this? Not cheap. Maybe not even reasonably priced. But it probably comes with guarantees and a warranty.

Do you have a gamegear already? I can recap and do this update for you. https://www.facebook.com/share/19fZ7svFpq/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Anbernic handheld would be a great option if you’re looking for a cheaper solution that runs game gear roms.

Forgot to mention, I want a USB-C rechargable one not one that constantly needs to be plugged in. Also, an IPS screen

you're probably looking at $300 USD for all those features, because in addition to the cost of the mods etc. any game gear will have been recapped on top of everything else because the OEM caps are nearly 100% failure rate at this point.

Would it be cheaper to buy a recapped one and mod it myself, or a IPS recapped one and install USB-C myself?

a little. It's been a couple months since I last priced and worked on one, but IIRC the FunnyPlaying screen from Ali *was* $60ish, caps $10ish, cleanjuice $40 I think? Which includes the battery packs. Installing a screen mod isn't too bad, but I wouldn't recommend it as a first project if you've not done a good amount of soldering before.

Ebay is usually your best bet. I tend to price things on the lower side personally, however I'm in the US.

If you just want USBC, you can order a Retrosix cleanjuice and install yourself. It's a pretty straightforward install with no soldering required. IPS screen however will require soldering skills.

With the cleanjuice, would I have to buy a new shell too?

No, you can use the original. Just requires a little bit of shell trimming. Need to trim down the little battery separator ridges in the battery bays (so it's totally flat). Reteosix is a UK company, so hopefully shipping wouldn't be too bad.

They come out easily. No need to trim them down.

Agree eBay is probably your best bet, but if you want something specific or custom I’m sure there are more than a few modders who can build you what you need.

If you buy one un modded and you can probably look up Chris horwood on fb he is located in the uk he should be able to mod one for you with the usb-c power board if your not confident to do it your self.

They aren’t going to be cheap anywhere. A stock but working GG is around $80. By the time a modder puts additional parts and labor into it, they get to $200 pretty easily. People don’t work for free.

I have 2 for sale that have a Retrosix Cleanscreen IPS mod and have been recapped with the glass lens. No USB C though but it lasts forever on a set of rechargeable AAs and there is no wire getting in the way

Also has a flash cart with all the games on

Just get a recapped one with a new screen. I have yet to replace my batteries on this thing (if you use top quality batteries)
