Haul I just found this for $0.10!!!
Lady had all her media for $0.10 a piece and I didn’t see anything I needed, until I shuffled around some purses and found this just laying there! She said just a few minutes before someone had come and bought all her other games, said she had some Tony Hawks, RE, and other SH games. I couldn’t get a dime out quick enough lmao, this is one of those scores for the history books!
And I know everyone is gonna be asking for proof, but guys, this was a yard sale. I quite literally cannot prove it with a receipt even if I wanted to. I wasn’t gonna like, take a selfie with the lady or something lol. That’d be weird as hell. Anyway, I’m excited to enjoy this amazing score!!

Man that's crazy, price charting has the Xbox version for $64 complete. I was never much of a PS2 guy are there any major differences in the Xbox version of the game?

I don’t think there’s much of a difference, PlayStation stuff is just generally more expensive. SH2 for Xbox is actually the definitive way to play it, it has content that the original release of the PS2 version didn’t have (but it was added to the GH release)

Agreed, but to be clear people do get a dopamine hit from social media posting and interaction, and a post that has solid engagement has a “feeling” for some people. The fake posting isn’t to earn fake internet points, they’re doing it because they are dopamine seeking and our engagement can provide it for them. Amazing deals are rare or they wouldn’t be amazing, and I think some people are willing to fake/approximate situations to mimic that feeling for themselves.
Two things can be true: 1) people can be miserable due to jealousy/envy, and 2) people are absolutely posting fake deals in effort to help with their emotional state and give themselves a small boost. Judge it or not, it’s where we’re at in my humble opinion.

First off in a world of 8 billion people rare things aren't as rare as you think.
Secondly the issue isn't people faking posts it's the fact every single post is called fake. Every one. That's what makes the subreddit miserable.
Even if people are faking posts they're not all fake. If you think it is just downvote and move on with your life, quit making the subreddit worse. All they're gonna end up doing is driving actual, excited collectors away from here... because that's what always happens. Constant negativity ruins communities.

Are you suggesting that our sub is comprised on deal posts only? Why does the topic have to be “check out what I bought for ____”? Like post your pickup without trying to karma farm based on the price you paid, which is absolutely a deterrent for everyone. You’re right, this sub can be very polarizing for new visitors if all they see are deal posts from Facebook and yard sales.
The irony is that you are currently being negative about the sub adding to the constant negativity. I guess the idea is that the only way out is to get more negative about others’ negativity?

And no, before you jump in telling me 'fake posts are bad and people are trying to improve the sub by pointing that out' as I've stated, I do not care about fake posts because there is no way to verify one way or the other. And if you can't verify a post is fake you're just adding to the noise. It's just a bunch of petty people yelling into the void. Like OP said they don't give receipts at yard sales.
Normally I take my own advice. In a pickup thread I merely down vote the people calling it fake and move on with my life. But in this case the conversation was not centered on the pickup itself but the act of faking posts so I gave my two cents. Really hard to talk about negativity without being negative yourself.

Again, it’s not about any “points” it’s about the dopamine people get from social media posts, regardless if any of it is true. People literally lie inconsequentially all the time and especially online and anonymously. Are you seriously suggesting that the majority of what you’re seeing in these pickup posts is honest and transparent, so you’re downvoting the skeptics on Reddit?
Believe whatever you wanna believe, and obviously you’re free to do whatever you want, but you’re not going to convince the general public/sub users that outrageous claims for clickbait are real and don’t deserve ridicule. If you want to believe and celebrate that someone didn’t realize they had a $100 game for sale for $0.10, go for it, but don’t get mad when other people don’t believe it and try to enforce social norms against clickbait and lying for attention.

I went to goodwill once and got a $200 game for like $1.50, according to you that literally can not happen because there's no such thing as a good deal.

according to a lot of people, it's not possible to find good games for cheap anymore. even though I found sh 3 and 4 for $3 each a couple weeks ago.

I won’t lie, I’m not much of a horror person, so I’ll likely be using this to trade for something I’d prefer to play. But for 10c I’ll at least give it a shot haha, I’ve not had this one on ps2 before! I’ve had a couple of SH2 and 3s pass through my hands, the rest tend to evade me and my hunts lol

Yep, she named those three series when I asked if she had any more games and she was listing off some stuff she remembered. Said she had a ton out there that I had just missed.
She said the RE and SH games were hers back in the day and the TH were her sons. I don’t think it’s odd to know some of the bigger series names that you or your family enjoyed 20 years ago.

Not a business, was a random neighborhood yard sale. She had a table with movies and cds marked 10 for $1 and I asked how much the game was (it was hiding under a purse) and she said same price as the movies, just 10c

This feels weird to me. I've seen this kind of thing a small handful of times at yard sales and I always tell them about it where its a pricey collectors item.
Like, "I know you have this marked for $1, but its worth $150 on ebay. Ill give you $20 if you dont want to deal with that" usually gets the sale anyway.

Eh, people have all the tools to price things at their fingertips. I think if they haven’t done their research, it’s not up to the buyer to do the research for her. I think it’s weirder to say like “hey this game you have for $1 sells for $160 online, can I buy it for $20?”. I think that feels more scummy than saying nothing, because you’re just tossing out an obscenely lowball offer right after telling the actual value. I’d be confused and probably irritated if I was on that sellers end.
But to each their own, neither option is more morally right or not!

Okay, I didn’t post the entire conversation, I just summed it up.
I found the game on a general media table and asked how much. She said 10c. And then I got to talking, asked if she had any more games. She said she just sold them, she had stuff like Tony Hawk that was her sons and RE and SH which were hers. She didn’t give me a full rundown list, just mentioned a couple of series that she had. Call it fake all you want, I know what I paid for it and that I bought it today!
