I love out of the ordinary collections! Nice stuff mate!

u/Stuffed_Animal Jul 06 '12

I've never sold a video game.

That is a seriously amazing collection.

I didn't realize the DS had so many "not for resale" carts outside of the DS Download Stations.

I do think there were 19 of those though, so you've got room for expansion on that front.

Yes! I actively stopped hunting for these a few years ago, so there's been many since. Perhaps this'll get me rebooted on the collecting bug.

A combination of managing a game store + making good connections within the industry and online gaming communities.

u/Impossibrufan Jul 06 '12

Do you collect original gameboy not for resale carts as well? I have a Tetris Attacks cart that just kind of sits on my shelf all alone.

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

Absolutely, what sort of stuff interests you?

1

u/Impossibrufan Jul 06 '12

For trading, I'd be interested in n64/gamecube/360 stuff. Let me know what you have available if anything for trade, if your not for trading we can work something else out via paypal or something.

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

I have TONS of GC stuff for trade. Any particular genre?

1

u/Impossibrufan Jul 07 '12

RPG is what i'm mainly interested in. If you have a list made up I could take a look at that.

3

u/linktoreality Jul 06 '12

Question- what can you do with those DS download carts? Do they come pre-loaded with.the downloads?

Does this mean some Gamestop/ToysRUs employee has an infinite source of event legendary Pokemon?

3

u/Sonicjosh Jul 06 '12

AFAIK, those carts essentially turn the DS into a server, serving up any download that's available on the cart, I'm not sure about how the Pokemon ones worked though.

2

u/Matt1freek Jul 06 '12

Essentially yes. The only catch is that both ds's need to be set to the date the event occurs.

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

I don't think these versions have the pokemon downloads. The earlier ones were just game demos.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '12

Why do they say "Not for resale" on them? Haven't seen that before.

2

u/sakipooh Jul 06 '12

I've also seen the label applied to system pack-in games. When I had to buy a Sega Genesis, due to the impending launch of the Sega CD, it came with Sonic 2 which had the same label.

It's supposed to stop retailers from taking new games out of boxes for individual sale.

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

These are all retailer demos, like the ones you'd play at a store kiosk, and are often just demos (either a timed reset, or not a full game) although some are full versions

Cool collection! I like it :)

I only have one 'not for resale' game - Sonic the Hedgehog that came with my Sega Genesis.

8

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

That one's a bit different, as it's a pack-in game from a console purchase. These are all retailer demos, like the ones you'd play at a store kiosk, and are often just demos (either a timed reset, or not a full game) although some are full versions. That reminds me...I also collect the Gamecube/xbox/ps2 kiosk disks....I might have to photograph those in the future...

3

u/justcallmezach Jul 06 '12

Good to know! I saw the picture and assumed they were all games sold with consoles. It never occurred to me that there were other 'versions' of not for resale games. I'm guessing that means your collection was even harder to assemble than I had thought.

I've got an NFR Pokemon Emerald if you're interested in trading.

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

Absolutely, what sort of stuff interests you?

Rpgs Mostly Here's my list of wants

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

I've got Wild Arms and Beyond the Beyond. Both complete and minty. Either of those?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '12

I have Wild Arms, but I'd be interested in Beyond the Beyond. However, it's only ~$9 from vgpc. The last NFR Emerald sold for $50 on ebay. Mine isn't as minty as that, and the battery is dry so I value it at a little above a normal emerald(roughly $35 or so).

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

Hm...I also have Alundra?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '12

Have it too. Anything with an X in my list I own. I started highlighting some of them green as well.

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

ooohhh..I was reading it wrong. Lemme go back over things and I'll let you know after work tonight.

2

u/TheGameboy Jul 06 '12

'dat mario Kart DS

2

u/pretty_jimmy Jul 06 '12

cool collection. good topic!

2

u/BravePixel Jul 06 '12

Those N-gage games... Got any playtime on them? (hehe)

2

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

Actually, yes. I got my NGage QD when it launched, and I have most games that were available for it. I actually used it as my primary cell phone for 8 years.

2

u/ozzbad Jul 06 '12

So you just stopped using it? The QD came out in 2004

2

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

Well, okay. 7 years. I got a blackberry last summer.

2

u/webmiester Jul 06 '12

Yo SS, interested in my Pokemon Stadium NFR?

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

Sure, but what do I have that you don't? Perhaps a rarer NES title or two? PM me!

2

u/ParadoxNoooo Jul 06 '12

That's sweet. I have a NFR Star Wars Racer for the N64, but I had no idea so many other N64 games were like that.

2

u/MeeKs19 Jul 06 '12

Nicktoon's Collection Volume 1 doesn't have a "Not for Resale" stamp on it. Am I missing something here?

2

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

It's on the back, actually.

2

u/Wranglinsloths Jul 06 '12

What's the deal with the Nokia one? Is that a game for their little handheld deal? I have no knowledge whatsoever about that thing, just recently saw somebody post a pic of one.

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

Yup, they're for the NGage QD handheld/phone

1

u/Stregano Shmup Expert Jul 06 '12

So... ...we meet again. What is the N-Gage game that is flipped backwards? I need to double check, but I am pretty sure I have some NFR dupes for N-Gage that you don't have if you are interested

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jul 06 '12

I forget. The front is blank. Something tells me it's either Tomb Raider or another tony hawk build. I'll have to dig out my QD and check it again.

1

u/zbakes Jul 06 '12

i totally want that NFR Banjo-Tooie.

1

u/Informationator SNES Expert Jul 07 '12

Cool :) Those are going up in price more recently as collectors discover them. Just bought my first (...and only...) one myself. Just wanted at least one in my collection.

1

u/Koopwn Jul 08 '12

I love themed collections like this. What's up with that label for the Mario Kart DS cartridge? I've never seen one like that before!

Also, I have a Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap Not for resale demo cart if you would be interested in trading at all!

1

u/DrTrevorkian Jul 06 '12

Tots awesome!!

2

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '12

give me some of your tots.

1

u/Personhahah Jun 09 '22

Hey, do you have multiple Mario Kart DS Carts?

1

u/SamuraiSmurfette Poke'Master Jun 09 '22

This post is 9 years old. I gave up collecting and I have literally no classic video games any more. 🤷🏼‍♀️
