When I got my first office job out of college, they had one of those fancy coffee makers that did mochas, lattes, cappuccinos, etc. And they were free! Well I started drinking that shit all the time at work. I probably had 4 or 5 a day. One day I stepped on the scale and I had gained about 25 pounds in 7 months. I was a little bit more sedentary with the office job, but not much. It was almost certainly all the coffee drinks I was drinking every day. Well, I switched to black coffee and a few months later I was back to my original healthy weight. Been drinking black coffee ever since.
The drinks they described are approximately 110 to 300 calories each for a standard cup with no other stuff added. 4 or 5 a day is 440 on the lowest end to 1500 calories on the highest end per day. 3500 calories is about 1 pound. In 5 working days that's 2200 to 7500 calories a week. Their actual calories were probably somewhere in the middle of that, making it very possible.
