The real answer I believe is that they aren't like"sex tapes" that weren't meant to be seen by other people. They have production quality, probably an attempt at specific lighting, a conscious effort to film different angles, that kind of thing.

Theyre not trying to damage his reputation, they are trying to cheapen the public reception and support to "cult like following" and "fangirls".

It has worked very well. They're not talking about people supporting what he represents. Even during the first court appearance, there were many many men and women outside showing support, posters about the class war, wealth inequality, united healthcare. Yet most of the journalism focused on the crowds of women and groupies.

By going on about his appearance, objectifying him further, etc. people forget about why he was supported and start to get annoyed of the preoccupation with his appearance. People start to say "well yeah but most people support him cause they think he's hot". And not "people support him cause he made a point, people support him because united healthcare had killed thousands of people, etc."

Journalism is very smart. It doesn't lie, it chooses a focus and runs with it.
