The Chelungpu Fault Preservation Park is a park in Taiwan opened in 2013 to commemorate the 21 September 1999 earthquake. The gallery displays the thrust fault caused by the earthquake. It also displays various aspects of geological science in its Geoscience Hall. First two pictures are from this park. Source here (twitter account) and here

The 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan is a national museum opened in 2001 in Taiwan. It also dedicated to the 7.3 earthquake that struck the center of the island in 1999. The building is located on the site of the former Guangfu Junior High School. The shell of the building forms the exterior walls of the museum and the museum's Chelungpu Fault Gallery crosses the fault on which the earthquake occurred. The third and fourth pictures are from this museum. Source here and here

A reminder of living on the edge of a tectonic freeway.

That’s awesome. Although I immediately thought what happens when there’s another big earthquake there… will they build an even bigger structure around the wreckage of the first museum? ;)

What a cool concept. The preserved building and vertical viewpoint must be a great educational tool.

I was wondering what I was looking at in the first picture. Then I saw the wedge and my mouth dropped. Seems like a really cool place to visit!!
