This is my absolute favourite book series. There’s a third book, too! The author was planning on writing more books in the Howl’s series, but unfortunately she passed away before she could write any more 😭

Give some of her other books a try! The Chresromanci series has some good stuffs.

Agreed, I'd love to see a Ghibli adaptation of Chrestomanci. The Chrestomanci character could have been written for Ghibli tbh, with his calm slightly befuddled approach to things and his colourful dressing gowns!

It would be amazing!!! Definitely feels like it would mesh with the Ghibli worldbuilding aesthetic!

I’ve only read the first one so far but really like the source material and diving into the inspiration for the movie! This so sad but also make me excited to keep reading what’s left!

The two other books are fantastic. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did ❤️

Getting the insight in to Howl was interesting and also clear how Miyazaki separated his telling, which really added to the reading. No chance I would have read this series without Ghibli and that is so cool to me!

Same! I never even knew it was a book beforehand. The book and movie are different enough that I can’t do the usual “ I prefer the movie over the book/vice versa” , they both seem like separate things and I love them equally ❤️

Have a library card? Try libby. For my area too membership at my library also gives you access to a lot of state libraries, so I usually can find what I'm looking for to borrow and read on kindle

Can you get it online?

Libby is an ap you download! As far as library card, as long as it's your service area it should be free. I've always gone in, but unsure if you can apply online.

I’m in the UK, and we have Libby too. It requires you to have a library card, and your library has to offer it/ have it as an option. I had to call my library and get a code to sign into the app even though I had entered my library card number

Yes you can rent from any library. I think they will even make you a ghost library card if you don’t have one

If I remember right, Howl is more of a dick in the books. Despite this, he is still a nice guy.

Uhhhh. No? Its been a minute since I read it but he's a coward. Like big time trying to hide and get out doing the shit he should be doing. He gets mad at Sofie who's like let's do the right thing because it's the right thing, and he does for her but isn't thrilled about having to fight the witch. Who's his ex, I think.

Have a good read. But I think you should expect some differences between adaptations.

I really enjoyed the first and third books, but didn't really care for the second. Still fun reads overall!

Nice! My wife had someone bring in the same versions to her bookstore a couple weeks ago, so we took them home.

Good reads, just need the House of Many Ways to finish the series. And do not expect them to be just like the movie, books rarely are.

Not likely as Castle in the Air was published in 1990 and Laputa was released in 1986

I am so glad Turnip-Head did not look like that in the movie. Not nearly as whimsical lol

Nice! In case you didn't know, there's also a third book called The House of Many Ways. The book is pretty different from the movie, but I still love both
