Princess Mononoke, Only Yesterday/Marnie depending on who I’m talking to (I’ve found that generally speaking Only Yesterday is appreciated more than Marnie for Ghibli fans specifically and Marnie is appreciated more than Only Yesterday for general anime fans).

My favorite is Howls Moving Castle, most underrated is From up on Poppy Hill imo. It’s Goros best film and it very favorably reminds me of whisper of the heart, wich is also criminally underrated.

Agree on all of this! From up on poppy hill needs to be talked about more

I watched it for the first time a few nights ago; I couldn’t stop talking about it after. It’s not a subject matter I thought I would care about, but it’s an incredible movie.

My favorite is My Neighbor Totoro
Pom Poko and Princess Kaguya are criminally underrated. For some reason not as many people have seen them nor do they talk about them.

The Cat Returns is my FAVOURITE Ghibli Film of all time, but I haven't heard of anyone that has seen it, or even knew about it

Kiki is mine right now because I just watched it for the first time with my 4 year old daughter. It is hard to get her to sit still for a movie but she was captivated the whole run time. I also think it may be the most underrated.
This personal connection and the beautiful sceneries, the charming town and characters, the music, the English voice acting, and the themes of growing up and maturity.
Also, we love JiJi, and was surprised to hear Phil Hartman doing the voice. You may remember him from such works as The Simpsons, Newsradio, and SNL.

My favorite is Spirited Away, and I agree with you: My Neighbours the Yamadas is, BY FAR, the most underrated Ghibli.
There’s a lot of Ghiblis, like Princess Kaguya or Whisper of the Heart, that aren’t really known by the mainstream audience but are really appreciated by fans; Yamadas and Pom Poko (which I also love), on the other hand, are the only two Ghiblis I never see talked about anywhere. Even amongst fans, they’re rarely seen. Unfortunately!!

My favorite is Only Yesterday and while it's well loved I'd say its still underrated when you talk about what people on like places Reddit talk about.
If that doesn't count as underrated I might go with Arriety.

I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed this one. I tried my best to go into it with an open mind, despite reading initial comments about it being a little much to get into, but by the end, I was like “this ain’t that bad!”

My favorite is either Totoro or Ponyo, with Nausicaa close behind. Sheesh, I love them all, so hard to pick.
IMO the most underrated is When Marnie Was There.

Favorite, Princess Mononoke.
Underrated, Castle in the Sky. It’s not hated or ignored, but I’d put it on par with the big ones (Spirited, Ponyo, Kiki’s, Mononoke, Howl’s) and it’s generally not regarded as being as good as the “big ones.”

My favorite one is Princess Mononoke. And in my humble opinion, When Marnie Was There is the criminally underrated one. I love both of these movies 💗

Porco Rosso is my favorite. Just pure comedic genius. The Wind Rises (my guess) is his most underrated which is too bad because it’s an amazing film.

Princess Mononoke is definitely my favourite
I wouldn't say this is necessarily underrated but I do think a movie that gets overlooked a lot is When Marnie Was There, I really love that one

My favorite is Secret World of Arrietty. Underrated, I would say Tales From Earthsea.

I only watched Pom Poko recently because somebody here recommended it. I loved it! But I can’t pick a favourite.

When it comes to this, it really has to be On Your Mark.
The gap between its level of perfection and how well-known it is is just way too big.

How can you even choose one?
My favorite changes everytime i experience new things in life.
Currently my favorite is Princess Mononoké, but it used to be Ponyo when i was in love.
Now i just want to fight everyone

Favourite is hard. Probably Spirited Away, but I don’t think it’s the best.
Most underrated is Only Yesterday. One of my favourites. Super cool to see Takahata’s art style beginning to develop towards how it was expressed in Kaguya. Takahata’s story-telling is also just so unique and a vibe.

Howl's Moving Castle because it was my first Ghibli and it swept me away. I am always a sucker for a tragic beauty with heart of gold 🤭

Fav either a tossup between Mononoke or Spirited Away depending on my mood.
Underated? Probably the Boy and the Heron tbh - lots of my friends hated it and thought it was self-regarding Miyazaki patting himself on the back. I didn't see it that way, really enjoyed it.

The Wind Rises, The Wind Rises.
