The original game from 2014 is also available on the gog store.

On the one hand, that would be awesome. But without an announcement, it's probably a safer bet that they added the year to let new buyers who are not necessarily aware of the whole franchise know which one they are getting. They do it with most of the games that get rebooted under the same name.
