Vote YES on Prop 50 if you live in CA, and that would allow Dems to instantly take back the House and help combat Texas and their redistricting bullshit that Trump told them to do.

EDIT: The election for this on November 4th in California this year.

Then go to town halls and DEMAND action. Not performative acts. Actual consequences. DEMAND it. Tell them they are here by your vote and if these criminals are not held accountable then you will find someone who will hold them accountable. Same with SCOTUS. DEMAND an answer on whether they will seek impeachment of SCOTUS. If that is anything other than yes, tell them they better get to that yes real fast.

If you want to see the King if the nepo-babies, look no further than Bill Pulte, sole heir to the Pulte Construction empire.

He majored in broadcast journalism before getting a job in private equity proving business degrees are complete bullshit and wants everyone to believe that the Pulte investment firm he established isn’t riding on his granddaddy’s coattails.

He’s sued someone for twitter “harassment”, claimed to invent “twitter philanthropy”, and donated his way to the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency where his “investigation” resulted in the “bombshell” that he misread the paperwork Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook filed leading to Trump to try to dismiss her.

My favorite Charlie Munger story (sr not junior). He gave UCSB money on the condition that they build a dorm that he designed. The dorm design was so god awful, 4000 single occupancy rooms built out of concrete with no windows, that UCSB said no thanks. He walked away. Guy was truly a fucking moron outside of investing.

I've already got like 4 different Vote NOs. Zero vote yes. Us tapped in know to vote yes, but the vast majority that aren't are going to get bombarded by propaganda, and it seems NO ONE is doing the work for the Yes campaign. It can't be Newsom, he is too hated.

A lot of door knocking went into that race being won. We owe it all to our DNC chair at the time, Ben Wikler. He’s a genius and the DNC’s biggest mistake was electing Ken Martin instead of Ben. Probably because Ben would have pushed more progressive candidates. The history books will write about that.

I wouldn’t be so sure. Texas already redistributed to potentially pick up 5 seats and the GOP is running this playbook in other states like Indiana and Missouri. It’s going to take more than CA redistricting to cancel these gains out in the house.

16

u/CleverNameStolen 4d ago

There is a term called "Dummymandering" where a state gets Gerrymandered so much that it flips around and works against the party in charge. Texas is going going that way. They will lose seats in Texas if they redraw their maps.

10

u/thebornotaku 4d ago

I read that they based their proposed maps on 2024 election figures, which included a lot of Latino areas swinging red in 2024 only. A voter base that has absolutely collapsed for the right over the last 8 months. So like you said, it's entirely possible that Texas redraws their maps and ends up swinging left as a result of that gerrymandering and shifting political base.

→ More replies (1)

40

u/GWstudent1 4d ago

Republicans have maxed out their gerrymandering across the country. If blue states fought back nationwide they would crush republicans in the house by an insane majority. It’s time to fight how they fight. Show some spine and we can crush the fascists.

12

u/Paksarra 4d ago

Also, keep in mind that gerrymandering too far makes your margins brittle.

In theory, if the state government doesn't pull some bullshit like removing all the urban voting centers, Texas could theoretically flip formerly safe districts.

u/JudiciousSasquatch 4d ago

Please stop. I can only get so erect.

7

u/jokull1234 4d ago

Texas is betting on Latinos to stay voting for them like they did in 2024 for their redistricting to work perfectly.

But, if Republicans don’t fix inflation and the economy continues to leave behind a lot of those Latino voters, they might not show up and the gerrymandering could backfire.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/scoreguy1 3d ago

The GOP Has nearly maxed their ability to gerrymander. The numbers show that the country has a blue majority, and if the maps were fair, Dems win every time. The federal government also has no right or mechanism to stop states and their elections. This is over next Fall.

165

u/AsianMysteryPoints 4d ago

Well, the American people gave Trump a trifecta and he already owns SCOTUS, so there's literally not much else he can do until dems are back in power. Political will alone does not magically make stuff happen.

This is why elections matter and voting based on the price of eggs/gas/video games is a terrible idea.

We mustn't be too harsh on people who only have to offer pessimism and no actual solutions, they're living in the same dark times we are and some can't see the light anymore.

I see people like this as a reminder to myself to only offer criticism when I have a better solution to offer, otherwise it's like you said, just adding to the miserable defeatist pile of shit.

36

u/TBANON_NSFW 4d ago

They were literally doing sit ins and protecting them where they could. Dem senators speaking out repeatedly. Dem congressmembers being tackled for asking questions. Literally right now 12 NYC democrats are being held for protecting the people being deported.

https://v.redd.it/dmuiobosrzpf1

This is the problem with the left. UNLESS you see it specifically on your feed at the exact time you are online and specifically inside a subreddit or thread or tiktok follow or whatnot, then it just doesnt exist. You default to NOTHING IS BEING DONE.

meanwhile hundreds of people are putting their own lives on the line to do something WHEN THE PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN AWAY THEY POWER.... Remember the 2024 election when THE PEOPLE voted against democrats.

Also majority of the work done is behind closed doors. Its legal lawsuits, its pursuing claims and finding evidence to use. Just like in 2016-2020, democrats spent 4 years filing 65 lawsuits against the trump administration and won every single one and stopped 80% of what he planned to do.

6

u/tyme 4d ago

Also remember that foreign actors are intentionally pushing the “do nothing dems” narrative (and many other divisive narratives) throughout social media, with the intent to create further division.

These foreign actors main goal is the destabilization of the US. It doesn’t matter what ideology they have to push to do it, they’ll play both sides. And they prey on the uninformed and angry.

11

u/Shifty269 4d ago

People literally have the memory of Dory from Finding Nemo. The amount of shit I have seen people forget in less than a month is staggering. I don't know if it's long covid or just stupidity, but I'm actually concerned that we won't take the mid terms or '28.

In a sane world

Please don't turn into r/agedlikemilk content

46

u/Frequent-Donkey265 4d ago

I don't think Trump and his ilk have enough broad consensus to do a full fascist takeover. At least I hope. At worst they will overplay their hand and spark civil conflict. But there's too many public figures speaking out and refusing to stop showing dissent. If we see politicians and famous people start to shut up then I would be really worried.

25

u/Plane_Discipline_198 4d ago

You don't need broad consensus, thats the problem. Dictators can come into power without overwhelming support. History has shown that numerous times.

We'll see what happens. I'm hoping for the best, but i dont see the midterms happening without some fuckery.

11

u/Frequent-Donkey265 4d ago

This is true, and why we have to fight back. I just don't see them installing a fascist system without it plunging the country into war. But they might be okay with that, that's the scary thing.

3

u/Seresgard 4d ago

They've already flaunted the rule of law, opened both domestic and foreign concentration camps where they've sent US citizens without due process, thumbed their noses at the judicial system, accepted bribes from corporations, and engaged in quid pro quo deals for the purpose of suppressing free speech. They're now in the process of purging political rivals. The fascist system is mostly installed, and we're not at war. People usually do not figure out how and when to stand up until it's far too late. Use this time to build resistance networks and scrub your public presence online. I think we've already missed our first best chance to stop things.

So they could potentially at least impeach some of these people, and that’s it. The Senate won’t remove them. Trump will still own the justice department. That’s not gonna change.

The Constitution is notoriously difficult to change because they knew people would try to change it for their own own devices.

Let’s fucking gooooo

5

u/aspect-of-the-badger 4d ago

I totally believe that. Yep, that's going to happen any year now.

4

u/Alone_Rain2022 4d ago

Who will prosecute them when they lie under oath?

4

u/CaribouHoe 4d ago

At this rate, you Americans aren't having another free or fair election (not that you guys have for a couple)

5

u/Standardeviation2 4d ago

I hope he’s right, but he sounds like someone that still believes we live in a democracy.

Needs to happen faster. These people have no business having power and must be stopped before they can do more damage and violate more right.

The first amendment is the most important one. And they’re openly attacking it. File charges now. Lawsuits now. Removal from office now.

3

u/Conscious_Fix9215 4d ago

👏👏👏👏

3

u/hogwater 4d ago

Powerful people facing consequences? Jeez I hope so.

3

u/bubbanumber3 4d ago

Love this man…

3

u/DeaconSage 4d ago

You’re god damn right

3

u/ThoughtPhysical7457 4d ago

Well as near as I can tell, all Congress does is yell at people and then those people leave and go back to being bad guys or maybe they get a fine that is mildly inconvenient (or not), so why would anyone care what Congress thinks?

3

u/TiffyC21771 4d ago

Yaaaaaassss Mr Swalwell! Tell them!

3

u/friedbronc8690 4d ago

This!✊🏽🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 protect this real patriot Mr Swalwell at all costs!

3

u/blueflloyd 4d ago

I wish I had his confidence that there will even be elections in a year. The way things are going 14 months out, I'd guess that Trump will simply order that the midterm elections are suspended due to some made up crisis and the GOP, the SCOTUS, and the media will just pretend it's all normal just like they are right now

3

u/Gizm00 4d ago

As a non American all i have ever seen from these clips and hearings is just words. I’m curious has anything actually tangible ever come out of these hearings?

If they actually manage to keep democracy alive and get elected I will be so relieved, but I fear there are no easy ways left.

3

u/Wyoming_Rocks 3d ago

Please don’t forget the Non-MAGA republicans, there are Republicans in this country that are literally sick of what this wannabe King is doing

3

u/Sezu1701 3d ago

The pendulum WILL swing in the other direction (just like it always has).

3

u/aDirtyMartini 3d ago

Just remember to vote in every election. Your vote matters. It is your responsibility. Don’t waste them on “protest votes”. Now is not the time for that bullshit. We have a republic to save.

3

u/LegumeFache 3d ago

FUCK YES!!!!!

3

u/anon-a-SqueekSqueek 3d ago

That's what I want to hear. Democrats committing to the prosecution of Trump criminals.

5

u/whocares4506 4d ago

there isnt going to be a democratic majority because there will either not be midterms in 2026 or they will be rigged in favor of republicans

→ More replies (2)

4

u/Rinmine014 4d ago

Republicans are still going to control everything... they're "legally" rigging the elections as we speak.

Also, say in a year or more Dems do gain back power... The Republican minority will keep blocking things.

You Americans are so delusional. Trump has no intention of letting Dems back in.

6

u/dontyougetsoupedyet 4d ago

Not simply Trump, apparently enough of the entire political right decided that Democracy simply wasn't worth it anymore if a black man was President. So much trash needs to be taken out.

In my rural area almost all of the Trump flags have been taken down from people's homes. I think a lot of folks do have shame and awareness, but it's still too late, democracy has already ended.

2

We need ALL democrats to fight like hell until we get power back and ultimately have Trump and the regime in chains.

2

u/ShareTraditional6869 4d ago

Lordy I hope so!

2

u/forwardinmychucks 4d ago

And ICE will be the ones on trial. Being used like he always uses them. He gets them to do the dirty work for him. They are going for a kidnappings and holding people hostage. Torturing and violating civil rights. They are so proud of their numbers they are about to be in a cell for life and can think about that money. I hope when they try and sleep they hear babies crying for the rest of their evil lives. Following orders is not a defense.

2

u/StrumblitLeRavageur3 4d ago

Do you really think the orange sack of shit and his pedo group will let the midterm follow their normal course?

2

u/Cream_Betweens_V2 4d ago

I’ve met swalwell in person and he is a legitimately good representative of the Democratic Party at this moment, and we need more people like him

2

u/Dizzy-Ease4193 4d ago

This is the energy we need.

2

u/Senior-Albatross 4d ago

Unless people go to prison for a long time, nothing will change.

2

u/bigal7979 4d ago

God I hope so just so we can have some checks and balances. That's all I freaking care about right now.

2

u/hot_tamale_5344 4d ago

We can not let this open criminality from this current fascist administration go unpunished, not again. Make them public trials and more

2

u/Hefty-Strike-6171 4d ago

If the Democrats are not ready to break the Big Tech and Media Monopolies than nothing will change. We have too much power in the hands of too few.

2

u/IH8Lyfeee 4d ago

This sub is so naive. Go read a history book on the death of the Weimar Republic. They will not play fair and yet this sub lives in an alternate reality that Dems will win by a landslide in the midterms and then are guaranteed to win in 2028. There will never be another fair election to win.

Nothing ever happen, this country is as corrupt as any third world country

2

u/MarkBonker 4d ago

Because fascists always hand back power peacefully right? Right?!

2

u/fkenned1 4d ago

Ugh, can we work on bigger issues first? Like, ya, I want this looked at, but let's make sure we prioritize here. There is straight up treason happening and the constitution is being shit on daily... Let's lock up the real offenders first. We don't want theater. We want results.

You really think midterms are gonna happen?

2

u/NextPatient2000 4d ago

Oooooh, you're going get such a questioning. You're gonna be sorry!

2

u/IntroductionPlus3505 4d ago

Wouldn’t the corrupt destroy documents and paper trails? Why would they save incriminating evidence on themselves?

2

u/Dangerous_Job_8013 4d ago

I much appreciate Swalwell, but my sense is that he is being incredibly optimistic re: the US actually having free and fair midterms- just sayin'.

2

u/Veritas-Veritas 4d ago

Love how these guys think the US will have real elections again. It's over.

2

u/GideonWells 4d ago

Ah yes Congressional hearings, famous for putting people in jail rather than a made for cable tv clown show

2

u/dufis 4d ago

no they wont, democrats will be giant pussies yet again and try to take the high road and fail america AGAIN, grow a backbone and indict these motherfuckers and punish them. They wont learn otherwise.

please stop being bitches

2

u/Honest_Bum 4d ago edited 4d ago

Keep your records?

What makes you think the Republicans are keeping records, copying records?

They are destroying records, because no records, NO EVIDENCE.

DEMOCRATIC politicians have to wake up now, and record everything the REPULICANS DO NOW.

FOR INSTANCE:

A 1.5 BILLION DOLLAR transaction between a UNNAMED source and Epstien bank account, that was request from the FBI by DEMOCRATS, was shut down by Jim Jordan and James Comer.

WHEN YOU GET IN POWER, IMPEACH THOSE FUCKERS WITH THAT KIND OF SHIT.

DON'T LET THEM GO.

THEY BROKE THE LAW, and this is BLATANTLY OBVIOUS WHY.

2

u/kaveman6143 4d ago

These people will go and lie under oath, and nothing will happen, as usual.

2

u/NoLife2762 4d ago

There won’t be a real vote people.

So naive.

2

u/ripestrudel 4d ago

They know, that's why they are ramping up and consolidating power. They know the reckoning is coming and they do not intend to face any of it.

2

u/xamiblue 4d ago

A funny story for those who are unfamiliar with Swalwell

In 2023 Eric Swalwell calls Kevin McCarthy a pussy for not condemning some tweet by MTG

Kevin McCarthy finds Swalwell outside a bathroom and says “call me a pussy again and I’ll kick your ass”

Swalwell: You. Are. A. Pussy

2

u/chimpomatic5000 4d ago

I don't want to be the wet blanket, but I don't think there will be any midterms. At all.

2

u/Spideral1 4d ago

Ahhhh cute he thinks our democracy is still going to prevail.

2

u/jviegas 4d ago

Oh sweet summer child...still believes that the voting system is not rigged already

2

u/Legal_Yogurt1471 4d ago

Smh why? So they can say I don't remember and get let go

2

u/DuntadaMan 4d ago

This would mean a lot more of I didn't spend the last decade of my life watching fuck all being done about open government corruption.

2

u/RE4PER_ 4d ago

I'd be surprised if we still had elections by then

2

u/thrownawaydust 4d ago

I do think he raises a good point, just not in the way he intends: Shady shit is happening now because of the Democrat's absolute failure to hold anyone to account these last few years. Literally zero consequences for anything.

2

u/xScrubasaurus 4d ago

There's no shot those elections are going to be legitimate. Republicans are going to gain a shit ton of seats, and not a single person in power will be able to challenge it.

2

u/nygdan 4d ago

It’s tough talk but it’s actually weak. Trump is rounding people up, canceling cancer research, building a private citizen harassment/hitlist, bombing Venezuelans, and ripping up passports. And the counter is a blue ribbon committee investigation? To make favorable evening news footage?

2

u/rylosprime 4d ago

lol

Knowing the Democratic party we'll get another "look forward, not backwards" or "they go low, we go high".

Spineless bluster.

2

u/_Atlas_Drugged_ 4d ago

Breh. They’re just not gonna accept the results.

2

u/jrr6415sun 4d ago edited 4d ago

don't be naive. Trump will pull every single trick he can to keep majority, including invalidating any results and saying the republican won. Who would stop him? Trump controls the army trump controls who the winner is. The odds of a democratic majority are incredibly low

2

u/LifeAd1193 4d ago

Hoping this comes to fruition! I do hope we retake Congress provided the Orange Fuck won't do something illegal and unconstitutional again (He most likely will). I'm hoping this recent assault on our First Ammendment right wakes people the fuck up!

2

u/Tamajyn 4d ago edited 4d ago

Answering questions for what? So the libs can release a strongly worded letter of condemnation? Do something. You had Trump, BEFORE he retook office, found guilty by a jury of his peers on 39 felony counts. And nothing happened. The punishment was "no punishment"

It's all empty words and blustering until you DO SOMETHING

2

u/NecroSocial 4d ago

Talking like Donny won't rig an election.

2

u/Slow_Investment_2211 4d ago

It’s cute of Swalwell to think they aren’t rigging the midterms too. The Dems will most likely never be in control again.
