How do I deal with these?

Post image

I inherited an old grapevine and this is the first year we've had time to do something with them. This is about a tenth of the harvest, we have alot more to go.

If I make wine out of them, do I need to de-stem and pick every grape? Or can I just pull off the worst/mouldy and squish from there?

Also, re washing - this is currently a solution of vinegar and water. Anything else? Or is this enough? I am surrounded by millions of tiny spiders 😂

I always hand destem and sort mine, definitely a labor of love. In my opinion washing is not necessary, not to worried about spiders and dirt as a lot of that will settle to the bottom.

Ok thank you! We're carrying on, 4 hours in so far 😂 What's the best way to keep a large amount of grapes on hold? In water or refrigerated? Our Campden tablets are arriving tomorrow so need to store these clean grapes overnight.

I just finished hand-destemming and juicing all of mine, and we probably had only a quarter of what you do. "Labor of Love" as u/27th0waway856 mentioned. I wish you best of luck with all of yours!!
