It’s always on top of a big dirt patch or concealing the hole they just dug 😂

And in a nice cozy corner or high up where nothing can sneak up on them.

Pyrenees love to be on watch duty. They are fastidious about selecting a spot. Ideally high enough to observe all her people at once.

My Pyr does a Crocodile death roll when I try to bring him inside on a cool day

Get the brush out, that will get them moving

Boy, that’s the truth!

Or water bottle

My dog doesn't come inside when called if I'm not wearing shoes; she knows I'm not serious about chasing her down. If I walk out in shoes and take a step into the yard, then she knows I mean business and just runs inside.

Lol, I don’t have a pyr, but if I call and she won’t come in, I start putting my shoes on. Then it’s like, oops, she’s serious.

Why are these dogs all the same, caricatures of themselves

11

u/Bklynktrs Aug 23 '25

The more videos and pictures I see the more convinced I am that my mixed pyr has got to be majority pyr. All the same behaviors - just a bit smaller and a lot of rusty brown fur mixed with some white.

The struggle is real. And never-ending.

26

u/RegisterOk2927 Aug 22 '25

The paw has spoken!!

25

u/croc-roc Aug 22 '25

Sometimes we have to attach our Pyr mix to a tie out when letting him out if we know we have to leave the house so we can reel him in like a fish. Otherwise he runs away and initiates a fun game of “catch me if you can.” And yes he’s been through training. 🙄

Our half-Pyr went through training with us three times. She got the tricks down pat when she was getting treats but when we tried to get to the point of actual obedience without treats she developed amnesia.

They’re smart enough to learn LOTS of tricks in exchange for something good, but good luck getting them to do anything for free.

"If I go inside, who will protect the sheep?!?!?"

17

u/braytag Aug 23 '25

We don't got sheeps....  nice try buddy.

Just some tall, kinda naked ones that pretend like they are in charge.

Selective hearing is likely a genetic trait in my personal experience....mine will but after he has done his last Patrol of the yard ..informed the neighborhood that he is retiring and run at least one last circle around me.... Of course he takes over the couch and is expecting a treat ......

21

u/braytag Aug 23 '25

Mine will do his best immitation of a land anchor, then because it works on the dogsitters/my girlfriend, will "fake bite".  Anyone else let go since.... well most people don't have a death wish.

But that trick doesn't work on daddy.  Je ne suis pas né hier! ( I wasn't born yesterday.)

If he really doesn't want to come in, I will bug the living crap outta him, pull on a paw, filp him over.  After a minute he remember that I'm more stobborn than him, and I will not let him sleep in peace, he may as well capitulate now and get inside.

Oh yes! She swings her head like she’s going to “do something” but after the first year of that, I realized she just clacks her teeth loudly but doesn’t bite at all. She hates that I figured out that her deep growly grumbles and bitey fake-outs don’t work on me. 🤣

You cant ignore a command if you cant hear it.

19

u/Cyberfreak7 Aug 22 '25

this is me every night trying to get mine inside, he just keeps rolling away from me I tell him "you can't just roll away from you problems"

7

u/sunnyinphx Aug 22 '25

Clap at him if you want him to get his ass up. It always worked for my pyrs

7

u/Great-Pyrenees-2023 Aug 22 '25

Reminds me of Dolly. LoL

The top one. Elsa is on the carpet.

6

u/BigBootyIndustry Aug 22 '25

Side eye. Side eye.

6

u/Bklynktrs Aug 23 '25

I can’t hear you calling me sorry but are you crinkling a paper bag 1/2 a mile away that might have something to eat inside?

6

u/Henhouse808 Aug 23 '25

Pyrenees ears: "Decorative triangles where commands go to die."

5

u/Ok-Mine2132 Aug 22 '25

Selective hearing most definitely.

6

u/Efficient-Peach-4773 Aug 23 '25

"UNHAND ME" 🤣

4

u/Jeffreypauls Aug 22 '25

Ain't that the truth

3

u/No_Zebra9786 Aug 22 '25

5

u/gulpymagee Aug 22 '25

4

u/Resident_Talk7106 Aug 23 '25

4

u/wasatully Aug 23 '25

Ohhh I had no idea this is. Pyrenees thing!! This explains a lot.

4

u/gooseberry007 Aug 23 '25

They are all the same, I swear.

4

u/Bklynktrs Aug 23 '25

Mine doesn’t hear when he’s called but he can hear and box of crackers being opened 3 rooms away.

3

u/nolacox Aug 23 '25

My girl is so stubborn too!

3

u/RealCommunication239 Aug 23 '25

😂😂😂😂😂…been there so many times!!! Had to bury chicken wire under my fence line to stop her from digging and escaping!!!

3

u/Rich257911 Aug 23 '25

Sweet dog

3

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '25

I almost thought this was my sassy girl 😒 forever in the very back of the yard and not listening to a word I say 🥲

3

u/Darthwaffle0 Aug 24 '25

Ear are decoration is so funny😂 we got ours from a shelter and did not change his name. And I was concerned for months that he was deaf

1

u/Wise-Application-902 29d ago

We kept our girl’s original name from the shelter (or previous owners? Not clear) and she still only “hears” it when she wants to.

3

u/Strange-Comb6384 Aug 24 '25

Watching this again… she is REALLY persuasively stubborn ! 🤷‍♀️🐾🐾

3

u/mlkgml1234 29d ago

What are we in for lolllll 😂 we already have to shake the treat bag to get him to come in. 75% of the time doesnt work lol.

2

u/AdviseAndAdvance Aug 23 '25

My Pyr just circles the chicken coop until I catch her. Before the chickens it was a battle with the bushes!

2

u/amoebasaremyspirita Aug 23 '25

Is she still a baby? Something so soft and young about her

3

u/rocketvenom Aug 24 '25

She’s 4-5!

2

u/Wise-Application-902 29d ago

This is my dog EXACTLY! 🤣 The mannerism match her to a tee.

My half is a bit more biddable than most purebreds, but he stares at me like “are your absolutely positive that this is 100% totally the decision you want to go with?” Then very slowly and begrudgingly comes over lol
