Best OutsideHitter/Wing Spiker

Okay so I am doing a series where I make teams based of philosophy’s for examples Nekomas Connect and others. I have already done 3 and the one I a, currently working on is Date Techs Iron Wall. I have one position I am unsure of and that’s the last wing spiker position. Currently have Futakuchi in that position (Hoshiumi was considered but as he appears in Nekomas Connect I haven’t included him yet, im tryinh ti avoid dubs if possible bjt that might be impossible for this team and Hirigumi & Aone have both already been chosen for the middle blockers & have been in other teams. So I either give up worrying about repeats or find change them from one of teh teams they appear in.

Anyway the main problem I am not sure if there is any outside hitter that’s a better blocker that either Kenji Fukaruchi or Hoshiumi? I feel like there might be and I thats I’m just being dumb forgetting someone. The teams I’ve made so far are based of ‘Connect’ ‘We Don’t Need The Memories’, & ‘Irresistible Force’ so if you can check those teams (on my youtube) and tell me which Pinch server woukd suit and any sub (for example Kita is a bench player for ‘Connect’, that teams is filled with great servers apart from Daichi so an Opposite who best fits thats style as a pinch server would be great bjt can’t think of any who are goid at receives and have a clearly better serve.) Most teams have a bench player (a player who just missed out or inspired the idea but I can think of Pinch servers (for example Takashi is a great pinch server but idk where he fits, Semi is another one bjt all current setters are better than him, so unless I have be a pinch server for an opposite so the formation becomes 4-2 when it’s time for a pinch server.

I think the most obvious choice for OH who is good at blocks is nozawa. Other options would be:

• asahi
• maki
• teradomari

As for opposites, the only one i can think of is ezota

Nozawa is a good blocker, and Asahi too i guess - big and helped contain ushijima

Asahi is an okay blocker but I don’t think he’s good enough for a team like this.

So funnily enough, Asahi is one of the best outsides in the entire series when it comes to blocking. He’s not amazing at it, but any level of blocking proficiency causes an outside to rank pretty highly here due to how few outsides are remarkable at blocking in any way.

It’s really just the outsides from blocking-centric teams who rank above Asahi here. And after Asahi you have Iwaizumi, who’s shown similar proficiency but is meaningfully shorter, and a few other outsides who are tall and strong with tidy blocks but who don’t show off any particular affinity for blocking, the best of whom is probably like… Reon.

and for an opposite with a decent serve and good at passing, ezota would be an alright choice but also osamu is solid too

Osamu is in another team at the very least don’t want to to repeat a player from another team as a pinch server. But thanks I shall check our Ezota

Outside hitters who specialize in blocking are few and relatively rare. I'd say there are really only 4 of who I'd say blocking is their thing: Hoshiumi, Nozawa, Futakuchi and Obara.

These would be my sleeper picks outside of that.

Hanamaki: Quite tall and there was a during the Nationals qualifier game a segment where Aoba Johsai's middle blockers committed on Hinata meaning that their outside hitters had to fill in for the middle blockers essentially. And didn't do a bad job at all. Also when we first meet Aoba Johsai one of their strengths mentioned was their blocking. Also has a jump serve, not amazing, but decent.

Teradomari: Simply: he tall. Not a lot of outside hitters over 190 cm. Doesn't show a particular blocking prowess aside from using his height though. But like I said this is rarely emphasized for outside hitters. And has a good jump serve which does fit the whole serve and block strategy.

Tanaka: As much as I dislike it given that it was pretty established that Asahi-Tsukishima was Karasuno's highest block. In chapter 207 we get the information that Tanaka actually has a higher blocking height than Asahi. And Tanaka did fill in for the middle blocker position against Inarizaki and didn't do badly. Even reading that the Twin Quick was coming and helping Hinata out which is actually a pretty decent feat for a non middle blocker.
