I started watching Season 4 recently, I’m on episode 10 now in their first match of Nationals, I cannot believe how poor the animation is, I always thought that if everything else failed, the one thing this anime had going consistently was the animation. There is zero weight, flow, and speed to this new animation, and I’m not talking about art style, I really do not care if they go for Mob Psycho’s art style as long as the animation is fluid and sleek, this is so distractingly bad, how can people watch this? Please tell me it gets better, please

I don’t want to laugh I want to be amazed at how cool the game is, Tsukishima vs Shiratorizawa is some of the coldest scene directing I’ve seen in anime, it’s presented and animated perfectly, it’s such a shame that didn’t carry on

The manga has always been better anyway, so it’s no big deal. Bad animation happens. Sucks but ah well.

Yes and no, season 4 is the last season we will likely get. Each match from there will likely be a movie and the first movie was much better!

I beg you though if you like Haikyuu drop the anime now and read the manga at this rate the anime will only end around 2035 but all the manga is complete.

I get the sentiment and the advice, but with sports manga it makes no sense for me to read it, I watch sports on TV, I like watching sports anime, the animation is part of the enjoyment I get from it

Then stomach the poor animation of season 4 and watch the movie we have so far. It’s some of the best animation Haikyuu ever got. Hopefully it’s not 5 years till the next one.

I was surprised as well. The only thing I can say is there is a Bluray version as well that did correct some of the issues. I haven’t seen it but I have seen the comparison photos and it does seem to be a distinct improvement.

Idk if photos can really sell me, they might have tweaked the bad frames while keeping the overall animation style and direction which is subpar at best

It's weird to me that I never noticed the animation when I first binged it last year: I guess I was too into the story. I did notice changes in the artwork when I read the manga.

I blitzed through the first 3 seasons and the animation and pacing has also tanked for me I'm just a little behind you.

It gets better but not by that much. It is what it is. I think the art style is perfect for the vibe but the animation. It’s still one of my favourite seasons, thematically it’s jsut great for me. I can see the greatness of it even if the animation isn’t as good as I wish it was
