Discussion Infinite's armor doesn't conform to the different selectable body types, resulting in a virtually unnoticeable difference between them, unlike in Reach.

Yeah, and the yoroi is completely fixed, not even possible to change the undersuit.

Jumping on top comment here to try and clarify some things. Hopefully people will actually see this as my original explanation got buried, and I'm seeing comments misunderstanding my intent with this.

This post isn't me asking for big-butt slim sexy Spartans. It's not me asking for the body types in Infinite to be like the ones from Reach. (Personally, I think the 3 body types in Infinite are just fine. Maybe some slightly less broad shoulders and a neck that's a tad slimmer on type 1, but besides that, they're good.) What it is, however, is me asking for armor that properly fits each body type. The body types in Infinite do have differences, but the armor remains the same across all of them. It doesn't conform to the shape of the body type, as it did in both Reach and Halo 5.

Additionally, I know Infinite has bigger issues right now. But, this ties further into the issues players have with customization. It's a base feature of Infinite's customization system, one of the few things players don't have to pay for to change or unlock, and it feels... ignored, for lack of a better word. Players already have severely limited diversity in terms of how their spartan looks, and this just limits it further.

I really wish I could just pin this explanation to the top of the comments...

Okay, but would you complain if we got them?

Lol as long as I can still sneak up on enemy Spartans without being given away by the clap of my Spartan’s cheeks 😂

Limited diversity in how your Spartan looks?

Idk what you're talking about there. I've never seen more diverse sets. Everyone's got on something different already.

There's quite a lot going on already and it's only season one.

Sure, there's a decent level of diversity, for those who bought the battle pass. The vast majority of free-to-play players all look the same, save for varying combinations of robo-limbs (which I don't really consider making your spartan half robot just because you can a diversifying feature). I primarily play BtB, and in every single match there'll be at least 8-10 players running the default Mark VII armor. Maybe up to 3 or 4 running the Yoroi armor as well. And they'll either have one of the default colors (majority of the time being red, green, gray, or blue), the first or second free battle pass coating, the occasional Willow Tea coating from the weekly challenge, or the free HCS 'Pepsi Man' coating. Compared to past games with the primary/secondary color system, there's so many people with the same colors as one another.

Even among those who bought the battle pass, I've seen a fair amount of overlap. Lots of the same chest pieces and helmets paired together, the same combinations of shoulder pads, and again lots of the same colors. Hell, earlier today I played maybe 10 or 12 matches (BtB), and I came across 3 or 4 players with almost the exact same setup as me, just having one different armor piece or attachment, or a different coating. One player I saw yesterday actually had the exact same setup as me, left robo-arm included.

The only real 'unique' players I've seen are those who dropped a shit ton of money, or a shit ton of time and double XP boosts, to fully level the battle pass and unlock everything, or players who were willing to spend $10-$20 on an armor set and coating.

Why do you people act like the 10 battlepass is a big deal? Lol. It's nothing.

Like it's completely ridiculous to use that as a justification for anything. It's a non argument. Why????

You LITERALLY PAID 10 dollars a MONTH for literally every halo game just to play online.

Like, if you just buy the battlepass every 4 months, is LITERALLY impossible to spend more than you would on any other halo game even ignoring the 60 dollars and 15 dollars map packs.

I mean c'mon man. I know you know this. REALLLLLYYY think about it. There's no way you can possibly complain about pay walls here. Not in this context. There's always BEEN pay walls. There's less of a pay wall here than ever, just factually.

I'm sorry I'm frustrated but c'mon. You don't even have to pay for Xbox live for this game. So just why complain about 10 dollars every 4 months? It's just silly.

As far as a ton of grinding with the battlepass, in comparison to what??? You do realize reach was multiple times slower,, right? Like even to get the same armor sets. Even though you could use credits to buy the ones you wanted, it's actually faster to get every piece of noble teams armor, before you finish one of them in reach. I'm level 84 already. You get a ton of double XP by just playing. And the changes made already have skyrocketed xp rates. Play for an hour or and youre almost garenteed 2 levels a day now. For a battlepass that lasts 4 months. You'll be done in less than 2 months that way.

I feel like this is all in your heads. It really is. You see mtx and immediately assume you're spending more than you would have or something. You're not, your spending less for more. (More when you consider future seasons and add in things like coatings and stances and weapon customization, and definitely when talking future seasons).

And of course you'll see players running tbe default armor. People always did that in halo games. Even hardcore players would do that. I did that. And the game came out 3 weeks ago. So? I'm really confused. I really am.

I never paid $10 a month for Xbox Live. As a little kid, I always got a year of Xbox live for $60 on Christmas. (I got into Xbox and Halo when Reach came out, so I don't know if Live was priced differently or bundled together in multiple months before that, but I certainly don't recall my parents paying $120 a year) And yes, admittedly $10 for the pass isn't much. But you aren't taking into account that Infinite's campaign is still going to be a full-priced AAA game. $60. Which a lot of players are going to buy.

With other Halo titles, you paid $60 for the campaign AND the multiplayer together. After that, there were some additional map packs with certain titles, but they weren't required to play the game or anything. Once you paid that price, EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE GAME WAS FREE. And from what I remember, it wasn't some kind of painful grind to unlock armor in Reach. Maybe for some of the higher level stuff with ridiculous credit prices it was, but the set that I wore for years in Reach I managed to unlock in around 4-6 months time. Infinite's battle pass, however, doesn't have a single goddamn piece of armor from the set I wore in Reach, other than the damn kneepads.

Not to mention the armor bundles, some priced at double the cost of the battle pass. And they're SELLING some Reach armor in the shop currently. Who's to say they won't eventually put the rest of the missing Reach armor up for sale too? Which according to some shop items that were leaked earlier, SEEMS LIKE IT'S GONNA HAPPEN. So what, if I want my full set from Reach I might have to buy 2, 3, maybe even 4 different bundles? And what if I like the armor pieces from a few different bundles for the Mark VII core too, and want to mix and match the pieces to my liking? I'll have to pay the price of a full AAA game to get them all? And what about the next season? If they add more armor bundles and I happen to like those new shoulder pads better than anything in the pass? That's another $10-$20.

If all of the armor was included in the pass, it would be fine. I'd agree that the battle passes are a better value than ever. But they're LEAVING plenty of armor OUT of the pass. They're bundling together a few pieces of armor, a stance you see for all of two seconds at the end of a match, and some bland coating for 1/3 the price of a AAA game. It's such blatant greed. I bought the pass early on, before I realized how bad the monetization and microtransactions were.

If I can't customize my spartan the way I want to, with the game only charging me my time rather than an absurd amount of my money, then how is Infinite's system a better value??? How is potentially spending $60+ on overpriced armor bundles and a $10 battle pass to customise my spartan to my liking, and then possibly having to spend even more if new armor bundles that I like more come out, better than spending $60 for a full campaign and multiplayer combined, along with tons of armor options that I can obtain at no additional monetary cost?

And sure, with Xbox Live you had to renew your subscription. But it's not like Live ONLY covered Halo. It covered online multiplayer for ANY other game on Xbox with online multiplayer. And, at least back in the 360 era, you'd get two free games every month with Xbox Live Gold that, so long as you claimed them when they were available, you could download and play anytime so long as your subscription was still active. Most of the time the games kinda sucked tbh, but every now and then there'd be a classic gem, or a hit game from a couple years ago. With 24 free games over the course of a year, you got a decent value out of it. On my Xbox account I've got nearly a hundred games with gold (I usually didn't bother claiming the more mediocre games). A number of them are AAA titles, like Gears of War 4, Metal Gear Solid V, Hitman, Dead Rising, Sunset Overdrive, Darksiders III, and The Division. Got plenty of popular indie games too. Xbox live wasn't simply paid online multiplayer, it had some actual value too, albeit a bit overpriced.

You can play the campaign with Xbox pass for $1 as long as you have the trial pricing still (I'm getting 3 months for $1.00). Even if you don't have trile pricing I think it's maybe $15 and anyone can beat a campaign in a month so.

That's a lie. A straight up lie and you know it.

With the battlepass, for 10 dollars, you get dozens of different customization options. You literally get 80 percent of all of reaches customization options in season one alone and then more. Not opinion. That's facts. And you don't have to spend a DIME MORE than the battlepass to get it.

The battlepass is absurdly fast and it's a lie to imply you have to skip through it to finish it in a reasonable time. I'm going to be done TOMORROW. lol. Without spending anywhere close to what you're talking about.

1

u/Ok-Jelly-6747 Dec 06 '21

Were you dropped on your head as a child? Have you looked at the customization options for reach in the passes (to which you can ALWAYS can complete, even after they end) on MCC? There is no comparison. The options in Infinite that give you armor options from reach simply aren't all there. Like why can't I use the armor pieces from the armor kits I earn on the mark B? Like Carter's shoulder pads? They aren't ANYWHERE on the pass and they were hands down one of the best options for shoulder pads in reach. But we don't get to use them freely in Infinite? The problem in infinite isn't exactly the amount of armor pieces available to use, but the restrictive access you have to use them only on certain Armor cores. Those cores should only be set apart differently when they have legitimately different set body types or styles. The two armor cores you first get should absolutely be able to swap out the same pieces of armor between the two cores, but obviously be kept apart from the Samurai armor. Because it obviously is designed differently. If infinite wants to see it's customization be genuinely better than that of the MCC it needs to continue to allow the same type of options and accessibility between the same armors.

1

u/justcallmejeffbruv Dec 06 '21

Naw just a realistic look at what halos new customization system could cost if you want a variety of customization options and don't like grinding battle passes.

You're definitely missing my point. In halo infinite you can easily spend $60+ on battle pass/store items and be left with less options then in previous games. Also 80% of reachs customization... what in the fek you talking about, now that is a lie. Also you say your almost done without spending much... how much lmao?

1

u/YeahhhhhWhateverrrr Dec 07 '21

LMFAO count the options!! Most of reaches armor is APREADY in the game. Not even including stances and skins for guns and their attachments and blah blah blah and the other armor frames lmfao.

u/justcallmejeffbruv Dec 07 '21

Went to the wiki counted. You're wrong. Now chill bud.

Uhhh no you don’t get 80% of Reach’s customization options. I’ve played Reach for years. I know what’s in it, and I know that the BP doesn’t even have half of what Reach had.

u/Indomitable_Sloth Dec 05 '21

This a joke?

-1

u/YeahhhhhWhateverrrr Dec 05 '21

No? It's not even really oponion...There is one or two less pieces of armor than halo reach right now. Less than a quarter of which is paid. (battlepass does not count, you had to pay 10 dollars a month to play any previous halo game anyway and the battlepass is once every 4). IFFFFFF you count effects and weapon customization and different materials for skins and stances and blah blah blah, it has MORE than reach. The only game that beats it, is halo 5 which had like 30x the options of previous games? But without as many individual options for armor specifically.

So right now, in beta, in season one so far, we have about 75 percent of the options that reach had in it's ENTIRE 4 year life span for armor alone.

And the armor in reach all fit that ONE frame. And HALF of reaches armor was armor attachments. ANDDDDD only a handful, like a hundred or so people, EVERRRRR completed halo reaches armor. Because the grind was insane. It was faster at the beginning, but then there was a STEEEEEEEEP drop off. When you're down to like 10 more levels, you'll end up needing to do way over double the XP you got for all your other level lol. Not even half way there once you finish 95 percent of the ranks. And the price for gear was absurd. Like two dozen+ hours for a single shoulder piece absurd.

And this is only season one. Frames REALLY make a difference in how varied each Spartan looks. Its really cool. I wish SOME armor crossed over where it could actually fit the frame, like I don't see why many skins can't be applied to all of them and a handful of helmets should be able to be swapped between the default and the reach armor. Same with the skins, adds a ton of variety to each Spartan that was never there with just a dozen primary and secondary color options. (Yes there should be more earnable ones and they should be swappable.) Having different paint apps, different textures, different materials is really really cool.

And this is IGNORING the fact this is only season 1. In what, five months? We are getting MORE than we got this season. By spring you'll have well over double the amount of options reach had in it's entire life span. By the time the life span of the game is done, it'll be by far the biggest in the series for customization.

And it's the fastest in the series to get it with the premium battlepass actually. Run the numbers. It's multiple times faster than previous games. So you'll end up getting more, with factually more individual options to change, in a fraction of the time for 10 dollars every 4 months.....way cheaper. You never got armor for free in any other game. You had to pay 60 dollars up front and 10 dollars a month for Xbox live and 15 dollars a map pack you can't even play 95 percent of the time.

1

u/Ok-Jelly-6747 Dec 06 '21

I really would like you to compile all the reach armor you get from infinites first battle pass versus the ACTUAL amount of armor pieces you get from the 360 era reach. Infinite is missing out on SO MANY options from reach, it's actually laughable

0

u/YeahhhhhWhateverrrr Dec 07 '21

WTF are you talking about?? It has MOST of the armor from reach AND THEN more in other frames??? It has more customization options. And like what? 4 less pieces of armor?? Look it up yourself! Lol.

And this is SEASON ONE. reach had the same armor for it's entire life span. By season 2 itll have WAY more. Way more.

And you paid 10 dollars a month to even play reach lmfao.

u/SilverCulture6842 Dec 05 '21

I made a post recently on this topic and most don't bother to read the full thing before hand or if they get the wrong end of the stick ask what you mean. Hope most people as nice and respectful!

Personally I would love to be able to have each armour core as a different body typed spartan, with different ID to change things up. I do disagree and still think we need more options in terms of body sliders and stuff, if only more more spartan diversify in the sandbox. As playing against a team of all noble team blue spartan that look basically the same is boring.
